Chapter 75: Daddy~~I’m pretty~~Or is it Mommy~~Pretty~~
by 黎家七七Chapter 75: Daddy~~I'm pretty~~Or is it Mommy~~Pretty~~
Dongdong is an outgoing kid. He really likes Chenchen and somehow ended up right next to him without anyone noticing.
He is only half a year older than Chenchen and still struggles to speak clearly. "What... is your name? How old are you?"
Chenchen gets really shy around strangers. When he was in the village, he didn’t play much with other kids. It’s unclear if he became a bit more outgoing after seeing more of the world or if he just likes Dongdong.
Children have their own way of communicating, and these two, who couldn’t speak clearly, managed to talk without any barriers.
Chenchen held up two chubby fingers and said in his baby voice, "Chenchen~~two years old~~."
Dongdong leaned closer and looked into his big eyes seriously. "Chenchen, you're so pretty. Are you a girl?"
Chenchen shook his head and suddenly seemed a little angry, puffing out his baby cheeks. "No way~~I'm not~~I have short hair like Daddy and Uncle Shu~~I have a little boy part~~."
This was probably the longest sentence Chenchen had ever spoken since he was born.
Usually, kids this young can’t tell the difference between boys and girls, but Su Taotao had explained gender to Chenchen. She told him that she was a woman and Chenchen was a boy, so he should bathe with Uncle Shu or Daddy.
As for the "boy part," Dad explained that to him. Dad told him that only boys have it and girls don’t, so he shouldn’t get too close to girls.
Chenchen’s logic was that Mommy and Grandma both have long hair, so they’re girls;
He and Daddy and Uncle Shu all have short hair and a boy part, so they were boys.
Dongdong had never seen such a pretty boy as Chenchen before. He was also a child with strong logical thinking and his own ideas. He disagreed and shook his head.
"My mommy has short hair, and you're pretty. Only girls are pretty..."
Hearing this, Su Taotao and Xia Zhiqiu couldn’t continue their conversation.
Dongdong’s language development was better than Chenchen’s. Kids really need to spend more time with each other to develop their language skills faster.
Dongdong was the only one, so far, that Chenchen was willing to talk to besides his family.
But if they continued, their little friendship boat might sink.
Su Taotao squatted down and hugged Chenchen, smiling at Dongdong. "Our Chenchen may be very pretty, but he’s just like Dongdong, a boy."
Since 'boy' might not be the most common term here, Su Taotao would say "boy" at home but be slightly more careful outside and say "little boy."
Dongdong looked at Su Taotao with confusion, then at his own mommy, and then at Fu Yuanhang.
He found that this person, who looked like a big brother, was also very pretty, his big eyes filled with great doubt.
Can only girls really be pretty?
Xia Zhiqiu also squatted down and, following Su Taotao’s example, hugged Dongdong. "Dongdong, apologize to Chenchen. Chenchen is very pretty, but he’s just like you, a boy. You can’t say he’s a girl anymore."
Since both Chenchen’s mommy and his own mommy said so, Dongdong believed them even though he had doubts.
He reached out to hold Chenchen’s hand. "I’m sorry, Chenchen. I won’t do it again."
Su Taotao said to Chenchen, "Dongdong didn’t mean any harm. Can you forgive him, Chenchen?"
Chenchen puffed out his baby cheeks and nodded. "I forgive you~~."
Su Taotao continued, "Chenchen, if someone asks if you’re a girl without any malice, you don’t need to get angry. Just tell them you’re a boy."
If someone tries to upset you by saying you look like a girl, you don't need to get mad either. If you really get angry, wouldn't you be falling into their trap? So, if someone says that on purpose, you just won't play with them, okay?
After Su Taotao finished speaking, Dongdong became anxious. "Dust's mom, I... I didn't mean to..."
Su Taotao smiled and gently touched Dongdong's head. "Auntie knows, Dongdong is a good child and didn't mean it."
Dongdong knew that Su Taotao had saved him and had a good impression of her, so he felt relieved after hearing her say that.
He took Dust's hand and said, "Let's play together."
Dust, unusually allowing someone outside the family to hold his hand, curved his big eyes. "Let's play together~~"
The two kids held hands and walked ahead, with Fu Yuanhang close behind them.
The two mothers looked at each other and smiled.
The two dads had already moved a load of stuff up and down, drenched in sweat. Zhang Chuncheng, who didn't pay much attention to exercise, was even more out of breath.
He gave Fu Zhengtu a thumbs-up, who remained cool. "Fu, you're the best."
Fu Zhengtu didn't say anything, picked up the fan on the ground, and looked toward Su Taotao.
Su Taotao glanced at him and couldn't help but take out a handkerchief to wipe his forehead.
"Go up first; Dust has finally made a friend, let him play a bit longer before going up."
Fu Zhengtu gently squeezed her hand and took the handkerchief into his own hand. "Let Dust walk by himself later, don't carry him."
Su Taotao said, "I got it, go up first."
After Fu Zhengtu left, Xia Zhiqiu came over and said, "Fu is really good to you."
Su Taotao was stunned for a moment, then smiled and replied, "He's quite good, and Zhang treats you well too."
They might not be romantic, but they're great with their families and kids.
Xia Zhiqiu smiled softly at Zhang Chuncheng's back and said, "He's a bit of a roughneck."
Su Taotao said, "I almost forgot you've had a long train ride and need to rest. Let's head up now."
When it was time to say goodbye, the two kids clearly didn't want to separate.
But Su Taotao promised to make a birthday cake for Dust tomorrow and invited Dongdong to come over.
The two kids happily parted, looking forward to tomorrow.
Su Taotao was very happy that both children had made good friends and that they were neighbors.
At bath time, Dust asked his dad, "Dad, am I pretty or is Mom pretty?"
Fu Zhengtu was speechless as he looked at his son. "Why are you comparing who's prettier with Mom?"
Dust lowered his eyes, looked troubled, and shook his head. "Dongdong said I'm pretty, like a girl. Mom said some people might say..."
Dust was smarter than kids his age but also more sensitive than them.
From what Mom says, there will be more people saying that in the future.
He hates it when people say he looks like a girl.
Fu Zhengtu dried the little guy off, his rosy lips and pearly whites making him look a bit too pretty. He then helped him get dressed, thinking about how to build his confidence.
"Mom's pretty," Fu Zhengtu suddenly said.
After his bath, Chenchen’s eyes sparkled like stars as he fluttered his lashes at Dad.
Fu Zhengtu continued, "Then just tell them you’re a boy and not as pretty as Mom."
Just then, Su Taotao, holding a coconut and fanning herself with a big palm leaf, gave a speechless look.
"Fu, what kind of nonsense are you teaching our son in the bathtub?"
