**Chapter 455: The Call from the Admissions Office (2)**

Fu Zhengtu had never had so much relaxing time before. He was a workaholic who rarely took more than three days off during the New Year—and that was only when Su Taotao and the kids were around.

If they weren’t, he probably wouldn’t even know when New Year’s Eve was, working straight through the holiday instead.

Su Taotao hadn’t realized it until she started packing, but everything in this house—from big items like the oven, drying room, and small pool, to little things like wind chimes, pinwheels, and hanging decorations—were all things Fu Zhengtu had made by squeezing out time bit by bit, like trying to squeeze water from a stone, gradually fulfilling his wife and child’s needs and making their home the envy of other children at the base.

Now that they were moving, she felt nostalgic.

“Dad, can we take the oven with us?” Chenchen loved the oven—it was where his mom made all kinds of delicious food.

In summer, they roasted seafood; in winter, sweet potatoes, filling the air with mouthwatering aromas.

Fu Zhengtu ruffled his son’s hair. “We can’t take the oven, but I’ll take you to the beach to collect some seashells. We’ll bring them to the capital and make one just like it.”

Chenchen nodded. “Okay. Then, Dad, can I take all my little toys with me?”

Fu Zhengtu had made Chenchen plenty of toys—Chinese puzzle locks, wooden balls, rocking horses, slingshots, little bows and arrows—you name it.

Chenchen had only packed one corner so far, yet already overflowed two big boxes.

Su Taotao let the kids pack their own stuff, thinking they’d already sent off a lot, but she was surprised how much Chenchen still had hidden away. Looking at it all, she was worried.

But Fu Zhengtu said, “It’s up to you. If you want to take them, I’ll take you to the post office to mail them.”

Chenchen’s eyes crinkled with happiness as he bobbed his head excitedly. “Mhm! Dad, I’ll keep packing and try to send them all at once!”

No wonder Chenchen adored his father.

Fu Zhengtu absolutely spoiled his son, rarely ever saying no to any idea or suggestion, always finding ways to help him make it happen.

Yet despite being raised with so much love from the whole family, Chenchen remained a good-natured kid without being bratty.

Su Taotao was a bit concerned and couldn’t help asking, “How many rooms does the house in the capital have? Will there be enough space for all this?”

They really had a lot of stuff. Just Fu Zhengtu’s books alone had taken up a whole truck when they mailed them.

Zhou Linglan thought for a moment and nodded. “It’s bigger than here. There will definitely be space.”

Though she hadn’t been back in decades, after all, it was a two-courtyard traditional compound—at least three to four hundred square meters. There were several annex rooms on both sides alone, not to mention the main house, side rooms, and the rear courtyard. How could there not be space for Chenchen’s stuff?

The problem was, Su Taotao didn’t know that. She had always assumed the capital house was just a small, well-located bungalow.

She thought that while their current place wasn’t huge, it was at least two stories with plenty of rooms. Chenchen had always bunked with his uncle, so his own room was just for his toys.

Fu Zhengtu had gone all out buying and crafting over the years, and now Chenchen’s treasures filled an entire room.

“Dad, come help! My box is full again!”

Fu Zhengtu put down his work. “Coming—he’d say.”

Su Taotao and Zhou Linglan shared a look and could only sigh and shake their heads.

“Director Su, is Director Su home?”

Su Taotao hadn’t been director in days, so hearing that title at the door threw her for a loop.

Zhou Linglan walked over and opened the door: "You there? What's up?"

The person was the operator from the residential area's phone booth, panting excitedly as she said:

"It's from Capital University's admissions office! I told them to call back in twenty minutes and came straight here to let Director Su know!"

    ……
