Chapter 261: This Young Man Has Great Ideas
by 黎家七七Chapter 261: This Young Woman Has Great Ideas
After their lunch break, Su Taotao told Fu Yuanhang to take Chenchen back for a nap, as she had something to discuss with Fu Zhengtu.
Chenchen clung to his dad, refusing to let go.
Su Taotao had no choice but to bring them all back to the factory.
Fu Zhengtu's arrival drew a lot of attention from the staff.
Those who had seen Fu Zhengtu before and those who hadn't yet, upon hearing of his arrival, found excuses to come and take a look.
Dong Shengping went home at noon to see his pregnant wife, while the energetic Xiao Lu was on duty at the guard post.
He watched the family of four longingly, unable to look away.
Once they were in the office, Su Taotao told Chenchen:
"You and your uncle go rest on the sofa for a bit. Mom and Dad need to discuss something."
"Okay~~" The little boy obediently climbed onto the sofa, rested his head on Fu Yuanhang's lap, and closed his eyes to rest.
"Fu Zhengtu, Officer Zhang, who handled the case when Dongdong was almost kidnapped last time, was also at the scene today.
He was the one who led the team to find the hidden entrance from the mountain to the opposite side of the road."
Su Taotao roughly sketched on the blueprint:
"I made sure to take a good look when I came back. It's probably around this area. I can't go to survey the terrain yet.
If I'm not wrong, there's probably an air-raid shelter on the mountain, and this hidden passage might lead directly from the shelter to the opposite side of the road."
Su Taotao then drew a dock not far from the opposite side of the road:
"This is an external harbor. The merchant ships from our island's dock can't berth here, so our products aren't convenient for water transport.
This place is different, though. The products from the new factory can be shipped by water to coastal cities across the country."
Su Taotao made a few more marks on the simple map:
"I'll check out the air-raid shelter's location later.
If the location works, I plan to connect the road to the factory side, so we can directly transport goods to the dock through the hidden passage.
Handcarts can do the job, saving a lot on transport costs."
This was an idea Su Taotao had after Officer Zhang and his team found the hidden passage.
Land transport means first taking the goods to the train station or post office, then sending them to different parts of the country.
But water transport is different—it's direct point-to-point delivery, saving a lot of time.
Of course, this transport method only works for coastal cities. Goods for non-coastal cities still have to go by land.
The hardest and biggest part of the project, Ling Cong and his team had already accidentally finished for them. Su Taotao only needed to connect the road near the factory, which wasn't a big project.
As Su Taotao talked, her eyes lit up with excitement.
Fu Zhengtu loved her confident and happy demeanor the most.
He nodded: "That's a great idea."
Su Taotao smiled with her eyes narrowing: "I think it's pretty good too, but I need to do a site visit to see if it's feasible."
Fu Zhengtu: "The air-raid shelter is very close to the back of the mountain, so it wouldn't be hard to connect it."
Su Taotao's eyes lit up again: "Right, you went to check out the terrain before building the base, so you must know."
Fu Zhengtu said: "I remember it roughly. Your idea is feasible."
"That's awesome!" Su Taotao was excited. "I even think we can turn the shelter into a warehouse. It stays warm in winter and cool in summer, perfect for storing goods.
We can add a door on the factory side to store the goods.
And another door on the other side to ship nationwide.
That's perfect!"
Fu Zhengtu looked at her in surprise. He thought Su Taotao was a business genius, always coming up with brilliant ideas that others wouldn't even dream of.
"Is it no good?" Su Taotao asked.
Fu Zhengtu reached out and ruffled her hair, nodding with a smile: "That's perfect."
Su Taotao took out the draft of the plan: "Alright, it's settled. I'll tweak the plan. You can head back first."
Fu Zhengtu: "..."
Su Taotao looked at Fu Zhengtu: "Once I have the exact measurements, I'll hand it over to you for design. I also need a sturdy, impenetrable wall, with room to expand later.
The factory and living area must be separated, leaving space for future growth.
What if it grows into a huge factory with thousands of workers? Then we have to follow the base's setup, ensuring all necessary facilities are included."
Fu Zhengtu looked at her and nodded: "Okay, I understand."
He'd been part of the base's construction, so he still had this confidence.
They agreed and discussed the details for about ten minutes before ending their lunchtime meeting.
Chenchen had only planned to lie on his uncle's knee for a while, but unexpectedly fell asleep.
Fu Yuanhang's leg had gone numb, but he didn't want to move, afraid of waking him up.
Fu Zhengtu carefully scooped up Chenchen and held him in his arms.
Su Taotao, while her mind was still clear, immediately started optimizing the plan.
Fu Zhengtu walked up to her and gently knocked on the table, whispering: "Take a break."
Su Taotao whispered back: "I'm not tired."
Fu Zhengtu closed her plan and put it back in the drawer.
Su Taotao glared at him, compromised, and leaned back in the chair to rest with her eyes closed.
Fu Yuanhang listened to the conversation between his elder brother and sister-in-law, eager to soak up new ideas.
He doesn't know much.
Su Taotao dealt with a lot of tasks today and fell asleep in a daze.
When she woke up, the three men at home were already gone.
She stretched her shoulders and neck, rested for a bit, and felt much more refreshed.
She was even more productive in the afternoon.
She was so busy that she didn’t look up until Auntie Zhong knocked on the door: "Come in."
Auntie Zhong came in, holding Zhou Shiyan's resume:
"I've met him, and both Zhi Qiu and I think he’s impressive. We scheduled the next interview on the spot and asked him to return tomorrow morning."
Su Taotao nodded: "Alright, let Xiao Lu know he’ll be in charge of this person from now on.
By the way, does he have a particular role in mind?"
Auntie Zhong shook her head: "No, he said he’ll go along with the factory’s plans. He’s young but very dependable."
"What about the earlier plan to go to the capital? What did he say?" Su Taotao asked again.
Auntie Zhong said: "He was honest and straightforward:
First, he said he couldn’t get used to the capital’s climate;
Second, he found the factory’s laid-back atmosphere stifling, with life stretching predictably toward retirement, and he didn’t want to end up like the old-timers just waiting to retire;
Third, he wanted to stay near his parents and avoid being so far from home.
I think he’s being very upfront."
Su Taotao smiled but didn’t say anything.
These days, it’s rare to find young people with such forward-thinking ideas.
Zhou Shiyan is definitely someone with potential.
Auntie Zhong sighed: "I couldn’t help but think of our Jiji, who put up with such a tough work environment for years without complaining."
Su Taotao said: "Everyone has their own goals and ideas. It’s about what works for them, not what’s right or wrong."
Auntie Zhong nodded: "That’s true. This young man has a lot of ideas and will definitely click with you."
Su Taotao nodded: "Let Xiao Lu mentor him for a bit, and then we’ll move him to my team."
"By the way, how’s Jiji’s matchmaking coming along?" Su Taotao couldn’t help but ask.
...
Post-holiday slump on the 10.7, almost missed an update. Let’s call it a night for now. Good night.
