    Chapter 98: Mommy~~ Am I all grown up now?~~

Su Taotao looked incredulous. Wasn't that something you started learning in elementary school? Or at least in the middle or senior class of kindergarten?

She hadn't even taught Chenchen how to count yet, much less addition and subtraction. How could Fu Zhengtu be so "out of his mind" as to start teaching the child the multiplication table?

Soon, a childish voice floated from the bathroom: "One times one is one, one times two is two, two times two is four..."

    Su Taotao: "..."

As an ordinary mother, she couldn't keep up with the pace of this genius father and son.

"Yuanhang, how old were you when you learned the multiplication table?"

Fu Yuanhang, who was hanging clothes, thought for a moment and said, "The teacher taught it in second grade. Mom didn't teach me ahead of time."

Su Taotao lay lazily on the bamboo chair and sighed, "Do you think your brother has gone a bit crazy?"

Fu Yuanhang shook his head, "No, Chenchen is much smarter than me. He remembers everything he's been taught. I asked him, and he said it's fun. If he didn't like it, he would refuse."

Chenchen wasn't the type of kid to just go along with things. On the contrary, he had his own opinions and ideas. If he didn't like or didn't want to do something, he would have spoken up long ago.

Su Taotao thought about it and realized that Chenchen was just reciting along, not even knowing what it meant. He probably thought he was playing a game with his dad and was enjoying it.

"Yuanhang, have you adjusted to life at the new school?"

Fu Yuanhang: "The classmates are all nice, and the teachers are knowledgeable."

He really liked the current learning environment. Since Su Taotao stood up for him last time, hardly any classmates had picked on him.

Occasionally, a classmate would make a sarcastic remark or two, but he didn't take it to heart.

He and Uncle Mu had his own little group. They attended classes, studied, played ball, and had fun together, living a happy life.

Su Taotao: "What about your studies? Are you keeping up?"

She and Fu Zhengtu had tacitly agreed to treat the time before summer vacation as Fu Yuanhang's adjustment period. They wouldn't pressure him. If he couldn't adjust, he could just repeat fourth grade in September.

Fu Yuanhang nodded, "I'm keeping up. Uncle Mu is a good student, and the classmates he hangs out with are also good. They all lend me their notes."

Fu Yuanhang was naturally smart. Back in the village, he always ranked first in exams.

Although the material was a bit simpler, the learning methods were the same, and the content was interconnected. Listening more, writing more, practicing more, and memorizing more—he didn't find studying difficult.

Su Taotao said, "That's good. If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me or your brother. We're not neglecting your studies; it's just that you're so self-disciplined and eager to learn that there's really nothing for us to worry about."

Fu Yuanhang smiled, "I know, sister-in-law."

Was she worried that he might feel jealous because his brother only taught Chenchen and not him?

If they were constantly monitoring his studies, he wouldn't be able to handle it.

Su Taotao added, "Prepare your art tools. This weekend, I'll take you to Mr. Tang's place. Although Mr. Tang doesn't charge tuition, we still need to observe proper etiquette. I won't say much more, but study hard and don't let this opportunity go to waste. Make sure you can look back on this opportunity with gratitude and pride."

Fu Yuanhang stood tall, "Sister-in-law, I will."

Su Taotao rubbed his head and sighed, "You and Chenchen are both so well-behaved. My temper has nowhere to go."

Other families often had children who drove their mothers up the wall with high blood pressure, especially boys. But in their family, these two were more well-behaved and easier to handle than anyone else.

Another well-behaved child came out after taking a bath, smelling fragrant all over, and snuggled up to his mother to let her smell him.

"Mommy~~ Bai Bai only had~~ one bath~~ not stinky, right~~"

Su Taotao said, "He's too little to bathe often. He can bathe more when he's bigger."

Chenchen, holding Bai Bai, toddled over to the corner and propped it against the wall: "But~~ Mommy, look~~ Bai Bai has grown~~"

That was where Su Taotao recorded the heights of her two kids. She had drawn a scale for each of them just a few days after they moved in, to see how much they would grow in a year.

On Chenchen's birthday, Su Taotao measured him again. In fact, it had only been a few days, and he hadn't grown taller. To cheer the child up, Su Taotao drew a line anyway, saying he had grown taller.

At some point, Chenchen had drawn a line for Bai Bai too. It had only been a few days, and Bai Bai hadn't grown taller either, but since it was now arching its back, it could cover the line. The smart kid said it had gotten taller.

Su Taotao grabbed a nearby charcoal pencil, estimated, and drew a line, saying, "When Bai Bai reaches this point, he can bathe more."

Chenchen glanced at Bai Bai, then at the line, and sighed, "Ah~~", disappointed.

But the kid didn't give up. He patted Bai Bai's head and told it to eat more so that it could bathe with him in the future.

Su Taotao: "..." She couldn't stomach the thought of the kid bathing with Bai Bai.

Well, she'd find a way to explain it later... or maybe not.

    "Mommy~~ have I grown up yet~~"

Su Taotao looked at the scale she had drawn just a few days ago and suddenly didn't know how to explain the concept of time to the child.

She could only say, "You'll be bigger by Mid-Autumn Festival."

"Ah~~" The child blinked, "Then by Mid-Autumn Festival~~ I'll know~~ one times one is one~~"

    Su Taotao: "..."

Chenchen's bedtime routine had changed from listening to stories to reciting texts and multiplication tables.

Under his uncle's puzzled look, the kid recited the Three Character Classic and a few lines of the multiplication table before dozing off.

Fu Zhengtu wasn't as "ruthless." He just tested Chenchen's depth, asking him to recite a few lines, and found that Chenchen's memory was even better than he had thought. Chenchen could remember whatever he was asked to recite.

But the child hadn't learned addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, which were more complex. He even held up two chubby fingers and asked, "One times one is one~~ Daddy~~ one 1~~ plus another 1~~ why is it still 1~~ it should be 1, 2~~"

    Fu Zhengtu: "..."

"This is the multiplication table. One 1 plus one 1 equals 2, but one 1 multiplied by one 1 still equals 1."

The child frowned, not quite understanding.

Fu Zhengtu could only say, "You'll understand when you grow up."

This was why Chenchen asked his mother if he had grown up. At the time, Su Taotao was talking to Fu Yuanhang about life and didn't hear it.

Fu Zhengtu then reflected on whether he should create a systematic enlightenment plan for Chenchen.

But then he thought that Chenchen was still young and shouldn't be constrained too early in his imaginative thinking. It was better to teach through play, allowing him to absorb knowledge unconsciously while still having a happy childhood.

After all, Chenchen always felt like he was playing games with his dad. In his eyes, reciting texts was no different from playing chess, folding paper airplanes, or playing with a spinning top with his dad.

Fu Zhengtu and Su Taotao shared the same educational philosophy, but Su Taotao was from the 21st century, while Fu Zhengtu was truly a man of his time.

It could only be said that Fu's educational philosophy was quite advanced.
