Chapter 120: All Talk and No Action

In the following time, Su Taotao had Fu Zhengtu running around with her orders.

She had him lighting the fire, peeling garlic, shucking oysters, and stir-frying minced garlic. She sat back, fanning herself with a large palm-leaf fan, playing the boss who did nothing.

Without Fu Yuanhang's help, dinner would have taken much longer.

The smell of garlic-baked oysters was even more intense than grilled lobster. The scent drifted through several courtyards, making everyone drool, even the adults next door were practically in tears.

Last time they grilled lobster, Su Taotao promised Fu Yuanhang she'd send some oysters to Uncle Mu next time.

When the first batch was ready, Su Taotao had Fu Yuanhang deliver one to Uncle Mu and Dongdong's family.

The box looked full, but the oysters were so big there weren't many. Sending out seven halved their stock, leaving about two each for Su Taotao's family.

"Next time, get smaller ones. The big ones take too long to cook and aren't as tasty or satisfying as medium ones."

Fu Zhengtu nodded: "Okay, I understand."

Actually, Zhou Zhengyun gave him this box of oysters, or rather, he 'snagged' them from Zhou Zheng. Oysters of this size are not common.

Earlier, when they brought over the watermelon, Auntie Zhong and Xia Zhiqiu were already embarrassed, having enjoyed many of Su Taotao's treats.

Auntie Zhong's eldest son, Mo Jiazhe, had just come from the north with a lot of nuts. They planned to send some to Su Taotao's family, so they had the kids take back a pound of hazelnuts for Fu Yuanhang.

At first, Fu Yuanhang refused, but Auntie Zhong insisted, saying she'd have to make another trip if he didn't take them. Uncle Mu even threatened to skip his food next time, so Fu Yuanhang finally took them.

Su Taotao, knowing Auntie Zhong's son was back, was happy to see the hazelnuts and accepted them with a smile, asking if he'd thanked Auntie Zhong, which eased Fu Yuanhang.

Xia Zhiqiu had made sugar cakes during her break and wanted to send them over, so she had Fu Yuanhang take them back too.

Su Taotao also loved the sugar cakes and enjoyed them very much.

Now, Su Taotao had him deliver the oysters, and Fu Yuanhang realized he didn't need to be so polite with Uncle Mu and Dongdong's family.

Auntie Zhong and Xia Zhiqiu, getting the oysters, almost said the same thing: "I knew Little Su/Taotao was cooking up something tasty again. The smell has everyone in the family area drooling."

Auntie Zhong and Xia Zhiqiu knew Su Taotao wasn't petty. If she gave you something, it was because she really wanted to share, not out of obligation or for appearances, nor for return gifts.

If they had something new and wanted to give Su Taotao some, she'd happily take it. But if they forced a return gift on her, she'd be unhappy, so it was better not to.

So when Fu Yuanhang brought the oysters, Auntie Zhong and Xia Zhiqiu just said thanks and took them.

Is there anything better than sizzling baked oysters? Yes—baking another batch.

If cooking oil weren't so precious, Su Taotao would have used more, making them even better.

    "Mommy~~ these oysters are delicious~~"

Fu Zhengtu cut them smaller for the child, who ate them one by one, praising his mom's cooking.

Su Taotao took out a handkerchief to wipe the little guy's mouth, who was enthusiastically cheering: "You think everything Mommy makes is delicious."

    Chenchen nodded: "Yeah~~ Mommy's cooking~~ is the best~~"

Su Taotao chuckled: "You even know about being the best, you're amazing."

    Chenchen slowly nodded: "I know~~"

Su Taotao asked the two other men, "Which do you like better, oysters or lobster?"

The two men answered in unison, "Both are delicious."

Su Taotao said, "Garlic butter makes everything delicious, but unfortunately, we're almost out of oil at home."

Fu Zhengtu replied, "I'll trade for some oil coupons with them tomorrow."

Many bachelors at the base don't cook, so they have plenty of oil coupons, and Zhou Zheng has some.

Su Taotao said, "Try to get as much as you can; roasting takes a lot of oil."

    Fu Zhengtu agreed, "Okay."

Su Taotao remembered the child safety chair and table and discussed it briefly with Fu Zhengtu.

Fu, being sharp, caught on right away and nodded, "Okay, I'll start making one."

After dinner, the brothers tidied up the kitchen, and Fu Zhengtu asked Fu Yuanhang about his art lessons. Fu Yuanhang went into detail about everything, from the teacher's ceremony to how the classes were going.

Fu Zhengtu listened with a smile, amused by the idea of onions, garlic, celery, apples... who would’ve thought?

The effects of the roasted oysters showed up later that night when they used Family Planning Supplies. That night, Fu was more passionate and energetic than usual.

Su Taotao, who was all talk, was nearly worn out by him.

Her earlier tough talk in the kitchen turned into muffled moans, completely overwhelmed by Fu. She had no choice but to give in. Su Taotao secretly vowed never to give Fu roasted oysters again, as they made him too fiery. She decided it’d be better to brew him some herbal tea to cool him off.

Monday kicked off another busy week. Today, the construction team was coming to start work, and Su Taotao had to rush to the site early, waking up even earlier than Fu Zhengtu.

She groggily opened her eyes and found herself clinging to Fu Zhengtu like a koala, with a thin layer of sweat where their skin touched.

As she moved, Fu Zhengtu woke up, closing his eyes and pulling her closer with one arm, "Why don’t you sleep a little longer?"

Su Taotao nuzzled his chest, her voice soft and drowsy, "The construction team’s starting today, and there’s a lot to handle."

Fu Zhengtu kissed her forehead, "It’s not that big of a rush. What do you want to eat today? I'll go buy breakfast; you sleep a bit more. I'll call you when I get back."

Su Taotao shook her head, "Not hungry, just craving some mung bean soup."

Fu Zhengtu said, "I'll make it."

Su Taotao lay on him, mumbling, "No time, just grab something. I'll have an egg and some soy milk."

"Not even a jianbing?" Fu Zhengtu asked.

"No, once a week is enough," Su Taotao said, her lips moving against Fu Zhengtu's chest muscles, almost like a kiss.

Morning makes men easily riled up, but Fu Zhengtu restrained himself, gently squeezing her hips to get her to move, and got up first.

As usual, he checked on the kid first, then went downstairs to wash up and went out for a run to buy breakfast.

Su Taotao didn't linger in bed; she got up shortly after Fu Zhengtu left to get herself ready. A white shirt or skirt wasn’t suitable for the construction site.

She found a pair of semi-new black pants and tucked a blue shirt into them, then tied her hair into a loose bun. After all, with a hat on, the hairstyle didn't matter much, as long as it didn't interfere with work.

She looked every bit the stylish and capable young female entrepreneur of the 1970s.
