    Chapter 140: Bad Gege

Chenchen rarely went out with his father this early in the morning.

The child's prediction of his own abilities was quite accurate. With an empty stomach and low energy, he really only walked "just a tiny bit" before he couldn't go any further.

Sitting in his father's strong arms, watching the sea and listening to the sound of waves with a conch shell was one of his favorite games. He would occasionally place the conch shell on his father's ear, letting him hear the sound of the waves too.

The route that Fu Zhengtu usually completed in a few minutes took nearly twenty minutes with Chenchen as a little tag-along. Fortunately, he had left early; otherwise, he would definitely be late for work.

Now that he didn't go home for lunch, if Chenchen didn't accompany him to work, the time he could spend with his son in a day was actually quite limited. He had missed a lot of time with him before, and now he was trying to make up for it, bit by bit.

As they approached the cafeteria entrance, Fu Zhengtu was called out: "Fu, good morning."

Fu Zhengtu stopped and turned around.

Cheng Jianguo, with bloodshot eyes and a haggard face, jogged up with his son: "Fu, thank you for last night."

He had stayed up all night cleaning up the mess, while Wu Lihua cried and yelled in his ear all night. Early in the morning, he brought his son to have breakfast and would later have to report to the leaders. It seemed as though he had aged ten years overnight.

When Chenchen saw Cheng Hongyi, his chubby little hand instinctively tightened around his conch shell, and he glared at him.

Fu Zhengtu nodded: "It was nothing."

Cheng Jianguo: "It may have been nothing to you, but for us, it saved us from a disaster. Thank you, and I will make sure my wife leaves the family quarters soon, so we won't disturb everyone anymore."

After saying this, Cheng Jianguo left with his son.

Fu Zhengtu frowned. Who was his wife? What did her leaving the family quarters have to do with him? Why was he telling him this?

Only after Cheng Jianguo and his son had walked away did Chenchen puff up his cheeks and mutter: "Bad Gege~~"

Fu Zhengtu hadn't noticed the child's expression earlier and was surprised to hear him curse. He asked, "Who is the bad Gege?"

Chenchen, holding his conch shell, pointed at Cheng Hongyi's retreating figure and said in a childish voice: "Bad Gege~~ broke Chenchen's big shell~~ Mama took me to pick~~ tied with a rope~~"

He paused, tilted his little head, and thought for a moment, then held up his conch shell and said: "Tied with a rope~~ won't break~~"

Fu Zhengtu remembered the day Su Taotao took the children to the beach to pick conch shells. She had mentioned that Chenchen's shell was broken, and he had thought it was Chenchen's own carelessness. He hadn't realized someone else had broken it.

Mentioning the safety rope reminded Fu Zhengtu that Su Taotao had asked him to make a safety seat for Chenchen, but he hadn't had the time yet.

"So that's why you didn't want to go to class with Uncle?" Fu Zhengtu connected the dots and understood why Chenchen didn't want to go to class with Fu Yuanhang.

Chenchen nodded, touching his conch shell: "Can't break it again~~ won't find another one~~ this one and the original one~~ not the same~~"

Chenchen already knew that there were no two conch shells exactly alike in the world. But since his mother had spent so much time helping him find this one, and she said it was more beautiful, he decided to keep it.

Fu Zhengtu patted his son's little head: "It's okay. Whenever you want a conch shell, Daddy will take you to find one."

Chenchen shook his head, smiling with his eyes: "No need~~ this one is fine~~ Mama tied it with a rope~~ won't break~~"

Fu Zhengtu's heart softened, warmer than the morning light on the sea. He patted his son's head and said nothing more.

At the cafeteria, Fu Zhengtu found Cheng Jianguo: "You said thank you earlier?"

This was the first time Fu had initiated a conversation with him. Cheng Jianguo was flustered and nodded woodenly: "Yes..."

Fu Zhengtu coldly glanced at him and his son, then said indifferently: "Then please make sure to keep your son in check. Once he hit my brother, and another time he broke my son's conch shell. I don't want a third time."

After Fu Zhengtu finished speaking, he didn’t care about the mix of green and red on Cheng Jianguo’s face, which looked like he had just stepped off the stage after a big performance. He turned on his heel and walked away without a backward glance.

Cheng Jianguo’s bloodshot eyes were red with fury as he glared at his son, gritting his teeth and lowering his voice to say, "You’ve really gone too far! A few of you ganging up on one person wasn’t enough, and now you’re bullying a two-year-old child! Do you just ignore everything I say? Do you want to go back to the countryside with your mother?!"

Cheng Hongyi, a half-grown child, saw his father’s furious glare and was genuinely scared. He sniffled, teetering on the edge of tears but too scared to let them fall. "No, it wasn’t me. It was Li Junxiong who pushed me. I accidentally bumped into his toy car and broke his conch. It wasn’t on purpose, and I apologized..."

The last sentence was said very softly because his apology at the time had been half-hearted.

Cheng Jianguo: "Who is Li Junxiong? Why are you still hanging out with these bad kids?"

Cheng Hongyi really started crying now, immediately shifting the blame: "It’s because Mom hangs out with Auntie Yang that I play with Li Junxiong."

Cheng Jianguo: "Auntie Yang? Li Junxiong?"

Cheng Jianguo suddenly remembered: "Li Dongqing’s husband and child?"

Cheng Hongyi didn’t know Li Dongqing and shook his head at Cheng Jianguo: "I don’t know, but it’s the Auntie Yang who often hangs out with Mom."

Cheng Jianguo gritted his teeth so hard they nearly ground to dust: "Why is it them again?! Li Dongqing is such a decent person, how did she end up with a husband and kid like that? You’re not to hang out with them ever again!"

Cheng Jianguo then thought of himself. He considered himself a decent person too, yet he also had such a wife and raised a son like this?

The more he thought about it, the more sorrow overwhelmed him, and his already red eyes grew even redder.
