Chapter 2: The Insomniac CEO’s Canary Goes Wild (2)
byChapter 2: The Insomniac CEO's Canary Goes Wild (2)
In the study, Gu Bing was in a video conference.
The person on the other end said something that made Gu Bing frown, a clear sign of displeasure on his face.
At that moment, there was a knock on the study door.
He glanced over and said to the people in the video conference, "This proposal won't work; the focus is not clear enough. Redo it."
After hanging up the call, he said, "Come in."
The door opened from the outside, and Song Chuyi’s thin figure appeared before him.
Song Chuyi held a cup of hot milk, his fingertips slightly flushed.
"I heated some milk for you."
Song Chuyi walked to Gu Bing’s side and placed the milk next to his hand.
"You should drink it and go to sleep."
Gu Bing’s eyes darkened as he reached out and grabbed Song Chuyi’s wrist, pulling him into his arms with a slight effort.
"Playing games?"
A faint sneer curled at the corner of his mouth. "A fresh graduate? Innocent?"
Song Chuyi blinked, recalling the information Xiaotong had passed to him.
Indeed, the original body was a recent graduate, but due to studying liberal arts and unable to find a job, coupled with some family issues, he ended up taking this path.
The original body was indeed innocent, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been easily persuaded by Zhao Cheng to meet Gu Bing.
Thinking about this, Song Chuyi nodded confidently, "I am a university student, and I am innocent!"
Gu Bing almost laughed in frustration.
This little canary, emphasizing sleep and bringing hot milk, had such obvious intentions that “innocent” was far from accurate.
He wanted to see what other tricks he had up his sleeve.
Gu Bing pushed the milk aside, "No need for the milk."
He picked up Song Chuyi and headed towards the bedroom, "Since you’re so eager, I’ll satisfy you."
Caught off guard by the sudden lift, Song Chuyi instinctively wrapped his arms around Gu Bing’s neck. Seeing how effortlessly Gu Bing carried him, he muttered, "You’re really strong."
Gu Bing’s eyes darkened slightly.
This little canary knew how to give compliments.
Upon reaching the bedroom, Gu Bing tossed Song Chuyi onto the bed.
Unexpectedly, Song Chuyi did a quick flip and sat up.
"Come on, come on!"
He patted the empty space beside him.
Gu Bing’s lips twitched, "I need to take a shower first."
Given how eager the little canary was, he must have already washed himself.
There was no need to worry about it.
"Okay," Song Chuyi watched Gu Bing enter the bathroom with a longing look, "Putting someone to sleep is quite troublesome."
If he could sleep, he would have fallen asleep right away without needing a shower.
Song Chuyi waited and finally saw Gu Bing emerge from the shower.
His eyes lit up, "The bed is warm now, come on!"
He had been in the bed all this time, making it nice and warm.
Gu Bing’s eyes were deep and unreadable, his thoughts unknown.
After lying down, Song Chuyi promptly turned off the light and then lay on his side, looking at Gu Bing.
Gu Bing remained silent and motionless.
As the benefactor, he certainly wouldn’t make the first move.
Song Chuyi stared wide-eyed at Gu Bing.
His gaze was too noticeable, causing Gu Bing to lightly frown.
Time ticked by, and Song Chuyi still hadn’t made any move.
Gu Bing: ...
"You..." He couldn’t help but speak, "Are you planning to keep staring at me?"
"Of course!" Song Chuyi said confidently, "I want to watch you sleep."
"Watch me... sleep?" Gu Bing repeated, a strange feeling crossing his heart.
So the little canary's idea of sleeping really is just sleeping?
"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Song Chuyi's voice sounded in his ear.
Gu Bing silently closed his eyes.
His insomnia was severe; medication didn't work on him, nor did any psychological therapy. Otherwise, Zhao Cheng wouldn't have taken such an unconventional approach and found him this canary.
Now it seemed that the little canary wasn't effective either.
He closed his eyes but felt no drowsiness.
Gu Bing chuckled inwardly. He must be crazy to actually believe Zhao Cheng's nonsense about a canary helping him sleep well—it was sheer nonsense.
He suddenly opened his eyes and met Song Chuyi's gaze, who had been staring at him intently.
"You..."
He choked, "Aren't we supposed to be sleeping?"
"I can't sleep," Song Chuyi said, propping his chin with one hand. "Can't you sleep either?"
"Hmm." Gu Bing responded coldly and suddenly sat up.
Song Chuyi followed suit, sitting cross-legged and leaning forward, almost face-to-face with Gu Bing.
"Since we can't sleep, why don't we go out and play?"
"Play?" Gu Bing narrowed his eyes. "What do you want to play?"
"Climb a mountain!" Song Chuyi picked up his phone and showed him the location he had researched earlier. "There's a Tang Mountain nearby. If we climb now, we can see the sunrise by five in the morning!"
Gu Bing glanced at the webpage. "You've already researched it?"
"Mm-hm!" Song Chuyi scratched his head. "I originally planned to climb the mountain myself after you fell asleep, but since you can't sleep either, let's go together!"
Since neither of us can sleep, we might as well do something.
Gu Bing stared at Song Chuyi for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled.
"Okay."
Song Chuyi, being a man of action, quickly got up and packed. Soon, he was pulling Gu Bing out the door.
At this time, Gu Bing's driver was already resting, and it would take half an hour to contact him.
Song Chuyi couldn't wait that long, so he volunteered to drive.
Seeing his enthusiasm, Gu Bing tacitly allowed him to be the driver.
Song Chuyi drove towards Tang Mountain, while Gu Bing sat in the passenger seat, his distinctively jointed fingers playing with his phone.
The screen lit up slightly, revealing a message from Zhao Cheng.
"Brother Gu, having fun?"
Gu Bing didn't reply; instead, he turned to look at Song Chuyi.
From this angle, he could only see his profile. He was very thin, making his jawline particularly clear.
His skin was very pale, even under the dim light.
His slightly protruding Adam's apple seemed to move uneasily.
Gu Bing's lips curved, feeling a bit of joy.
Half an hour later, the car stopped at the foot of Tang Mountain.
Song Chuyi turned to Gu Bing. "Boss Gu, let's get out and climb the mountain!"
He had proactively shouldered a small backpack and brought two bottles of water, waiting for Gu Bing to get out of the car.
Gu Bing, dressed in a suit and wearing hard leather shoes, stepped onto the gravel.
"Let's go!"
Song Chuyi took the lead, walking several steps ahead, leaving Gu Bing five meters behind.
Gu Bing's eyes flickered, and he followed Song Chuyi's pace.
His phone vibrated in his pocket, showing a message from Zhao Cheng.
"Looks like this worked! Brother Gu, have a good sleep hahaha"
