byChapter 18: The Insomniac CEO's Canary Goes Wild (Part 1)
After Fang Ze left, Gu Bing grabbed Song Chuyi's hand and led him to the hotel room.
Once in the room, he pulled a long face as he fetched the first aid kit and rummaged through it for disinfectant alcohol and band-aids.
Song Chuyi sat on the bed, watching Gu Bing, who had a stern expression but was meticulously disinfecting his wound with alcohol.
The nearly healed wound was thus forcibly coated with alcohol once more.
After disinfecting it, Gu Bing applied a band-aid.
"Does it hurt?"
Song Chuyi shook his head and waved his hand. "No pain."
"Hmm." Gu Bing put away the medical kit. "That Fang Ze isn't a good person; keep your distance from him."
Curious, Song Chuyi asked, "Brother Gu, do you know him?"
"Mm, I installed the system for his company," Gu Bing explained casually. "He runs a casino. He looks refined, but he's actually a scoundrel in disguise."
Song Chuyi: ...
Seemingly worried that Song Chuyi wouldn't take it seriously, Gu Bing added,
"People who offend him end up at the bottom of the sea."
Song Chuyi: ...
"Pretty scary."
Not as scary as Gu Bing, who is planning to destroy the world!
Seeing that Song Chuyi was genuinely frightened, Gu Bing felt relieved.
"But you don't need to worry too much. He knows you're mine, so he won't dare to do anything to you."
Gu Bing reached out to ruffle Song Chuyi's hair, making it messy. A few strands stuck up, and he pressed them down again.
Song Chuyi looked up at him and smiled. "Okay~"
He turned his head toward the window, noticing that the rain had stopped.
Sunlight shone through the curtains into the room.
Feeling a bit dazed, Song Chuyi suddenly asked, "Brother Gu, does your company plan to develop artificial intelligence?"
Gu Bing raised an eyebrow slightly. "We have plans for it; it's the next step for the company."
As a leader in the internet industry, Gu Bing had long wanted to develop AI and had even written half the code.
However, these efforts were being carried out in secret, and no news had leaked yet. How did his little canary find out?
Perhaps sensing Gu Bing's confusion, Song Chuyi continued, "AI would be great. Would that mean I could play holographic games in the future?"
"I'm really looking forward to holographic games!"
At this mention, Song Chuyi became visibly excited.
Gu Bing set aside his doubts and smiled. "With current technology, even if AI appears, it will be difficult to develop holographic games anytime soon."
Song Chuyi immediately deflated.
"Alright."
Gu Bing, moved by this, placed his hand on Song Chuyi's head, providing a sense of security from above.
"But I'll work hard on it."
"Huh?" Song Chuyi felt like he had inadvertently received a significant promise.
Regardless, he was determined to play holographic games in this life!
---
Their trip to Lin City was incredibly brief; they returned to Jing City the same night the weather cleared up.
When they arrived back in Jing City, it was only ten o'clock. Gu Bing couldn't sleep, so Song Chuyi planned to take him racing, but Gu Bing received a call and brought him to a bar instead.
In the private room, Song Chuyi, seeing only two familiar faces, quietly moved closer to Gu Bing.
Zhao Cheng noticed his movement and whistled teasingly.
"Not bad, Song Chuyi. You've become quite adept in just a few days."
"Who would have thought that when I found you, you were so stubborn and refused to comply? Haha!"
Zhao Cheng had his own standards for choosing people, and his sole criterion was appearance.
Although Song Chuyi seemed a bit dull before, his face was undeniably attractive, and he was desperately in need of money—perfect for the role of a "canary."
Looking at Song Chuyi now, Zhao Cheng felt increasingly satisfied. Initially, he had worried that Song Chuyi's dullness might anger Brother Gu, but he hadn't expected that in just a few days, Song Chuyi would become so attached to Gu Bing.
Zhao Cheng marveled and gave Gu Bing a thumbs-up. "You're the man, Brother Gu."
Gu Bing looked down at Song Chuyi, who had moved closer, and his throat moved. "Refused to comply?"
Song Chuyi nodded slightly, thinking Gu Bing would be displeased, but instead, this person laughed and praised him, "Good job."
Song Chuyi: ?
The music in the private room was rather loud, and Zhao Cheng didn't hear their whispered conversation; he only saw them whispering intimately, looking quite close.
He stroked his chin and sighed, "Good thing Lin Xin isn't here, or she would have cried seeing this."
Mentioning Lin Xin, Zhao Cheng found it strange, "That Lin Xin went crazy a few days ago and actually participated in a talent show."
"In the past few days, she's been recording, and it's a closed set, so I don't even know how she's doing now."
Song Chuyi, who had hidden his achievements and fame, smiled innocently.
Gu Bing wasn't interested in these matters and responded indifferently, "It has nothing to do with me."
"Yes, yes, it has nothing to do with you." Zhao Cheng chuckled, "Brother Gu, you're different now, you've got someone, hahaha!"
"By the way, Brother Gu, how's your sleep quality lately? Has it improved?"
Zhao Cheng was very concerned about this issue; otherwise, he wouldn't have believed his boyfriend's suggestion and taken a risky move by finding someone to keep Gu Bing company.
This was stepping on Gu Bing's landmine. At the office, despite his calm exterior, he was panicking inside.
Fortunately, Brother Gu accepted it, and it seemed he allowed Song Chuyi to stay by his side.
But this insomnia problem, he wondered if it had improved at all.
Zhao Cheng didn't expect a complete solution; even an extra hour of sleep for Gu Bing would be considered a blessing from his ancestors.
Now, Zhao Cheng could still recall the scene when Gu Bing went berserk after not sleeping for a week. At that time, he really thought Gu Bing was going to kill everyone.
Zhao Cheng suppressed his shock and waited for Gu Bing's answer.
Gu Bing responded indifferently with a "Hmm."
Zhao Cheng breathed a sigh of relief.
While they were talking, neither of them noticed Song Chuyi picking up the wine on the table and drinking it.
The wine kept in this private room was potent; it didn't feel strong at first, but after a while, it would make one drunk.
Song Chuyi didn't know this, and even if he did, he probably wouldn't care.
After all, he could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk!
But as he kept drinking, Song Chuyi started seeing three eyes and two shadows on Gu Bing.
Unable to resist, he leaned in close, his warm breath brushing against Gu Bing's face, carrying a hint of alcohol.
Gu Bing frowned and glanced at the empty bottle in front of him, a rare look of helplessness flashing in his eyes.
"Drunk?"
Song Chuyi refuted, "Not at all, I can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk!"
He extended one finger and poked Gu Bing's chest.
"Don't slander me, you bad guy!"
