Chapter 7: The Insomniac CEO's Canary Runs Wild (7)

Gu Bing experienced the emotion of "helplessness" for the first time.

Coincidentally, Song Chuyi seemed oblivious to his feelings and simply tilted his head slightly to look up at him while leaning on his shoulder.

"Brother Gu, is it comfortable with me leaning on your shoulder?"

"What do you think?" Gu Bing countered.

    This actually stumped Song Chuyi.

But soon he thought of a solution.

"Xiaotong, Xiaotong, quickly check if Gu Bing is comfortable right now."

Xiaotong promptly replied, "Based on his breathing rate, he seems very comfortable."

As expected of the host, managing to soothe the antagonist so quickly!

    "The host is amazing!"

Song Chuyi smiled with narrowed eyes and said to Gu Bing, "I think you're comfortable~"

The corner of Gu Bing's mouth curled up, and he actually laughed, causing a slight vibration in his chest.

    "You’re quite confident."

Song Chuyi flashed a radiant smile.

Gu Bing's eyes darkened slightly as he turned his head to look out the window.

It had only been a moment, yet outside was already bright, with sunlight illuminating the road ahead and casting the scenery into clarity.

A slight heaviness came from his right shoulder, but compared to the warmth seeping through his shirt, this weight seemed insignificant.

He sighed inwardly, seemingly in concession, "Very clever."

Gu Bing closed his eyes, feeling an unprecedented sense of peace and calm.

The warmth from his right shoulder reminded him that he was Song Chuyi's support.

Strangely, he rarely felt responsible for someone who hadn't done anything, but in this instant, he wanted to be responsible for Song Chuyi.

    He must be going crazy.

The journey continued in silence, and Song Chuyi didn’t speak again, whether asleep or just quiet.

In this tranquility, Gu Bing lost consciousness for a moment, thinking he might have fallen asleep.

Unfortunately, when the car stopped at the entrance, his rationality woke him up, and his body tensed as if sensing work pressure.

Gu Bing opened his eyes and instinctively turned his head toward his right shoulder.

Song Chuyi had already moved away.

He had even distanced himself, leaning against the door with his hand on the handle, ready to open it.

"Brother Gu," Song Chuyi suddenly turned back, "you should fix yourself up."

Gu Bing raised his hand to adjust his clothes. Just as he finished, he heard Song Chuyi say, "Alright," and then light flooded in from outside, falling upon him.

If not for knowing that sunlight was everywhere, he would have thought the light was intentionally shining on him.

Gu Bing got out of the car and closed the door behind him.

"Do you know what to do today?" he asked Song Chuyi.

Song Chuyi nodded vigorously, "I know, I know, Brother Gu, don’t worry!"

"Hmm." Gu Bing responded indifferently and walked towards the company with long strides.

Once at the company, he immediately entered work mode. Occasionally, he would think of Song Chuyi and intended to ask Wang Assistant about him, but every time he looked up, he could see Song Chuyi.

No matter where he was, whenever he looked up, Song Chuyi was always there.

Even during meetings in the conference room, he could see Song Chuyi waving at him from outside.

After several instances, as if confirming that this person would always be around, Gu Bing fully immersed himself in work, even eating lunch hurriedly before rushing off to another meeting.

After finishing work at the company, Gu Bing still had to attend a dinner party in the evening.

This dinner party was held by an elder for his daughter, and the two families had a longstanding friendship. After repeated invitations, he couldn’t find a reason to refuse and thus agreed.

The dinner party started at eight, giving him time to shower and change.

For convenience, he had a dedicated rest room and wardrobe at the company, so after the meeting, he went straight to the rest room for a shower and then picked out a new suit from the wardrobe.

Upon leaving the rest room, he glanced at Wang Assistant standing nearby and frowned.

    "Where’s Song Chuyi?"

Wang Assistant lowered his head, looking somewhat conflicted.

    "Boss Gu, Song Chuyi..."

Just as he was thinking of an excuse, Song Chuyi’s voice came from the elevator.

    "Brother Gu, I’m here!"

He was holding a beautifully wrapped box and waving at him.

Wang Assistant wiped the sweat from his forehead; Xiao Song had arrived just in time.

Song Chuyi jogged over to Gu Bing, gave him a once-over, and chuckled.

"Brother Gu, I bought this for you."

    "It must suit you perfectly!"

Gu Bing raised an eyebrow in surprise as he took the box and opened it.

    It was a wolf-shaped brooch.

He took the brooch out and played with it on his fingertips.

"Brother Gu, let me help you put it on."

Song Chuyi took the brooch, bent down, and carefully pinned it onto Gu Bing's suit jacket.

Gu Bing glanced at Wang Assistant, who had been keeping his head down, and suddenly asked, "Did you tell him?"

Wang Assistant lowered his head even further.

"It was me who asked Wang Assistant," Song Chuyi explained. "I had other plans tonight, but Wang Assistant said you had a dinner banquet, so I inquired a bit more."

"I guessed you didn't have a brooch, so I went and bought one."

As he finished speaking, he suddenly remembered something and asked anxiously, "Brother Gu, can I get reimbursed?"

"No." Gu Bing touched the brooch, a smile playing on his lips, with a tender look in his eyes that even he hadn't noticed. "Since it's a gift from you, why would I reimburse you?"

Song Chuyi's expression froze, as if struck by lightning.

But at that moment, Gu Bing's smile grew wider.

It was rare to see Song Chuyi flustered, which was far more entertaining than signing a big contract.

Ever since Gu Bing said no reimbursement, Song Chuyi became dejected.

Not until Gu Bing left for the banquet hall did Song Chuyi perk up a little.

Wang Assistant, feeling sorry for him, said, "Xiao Song, say some nice things to Boss Gu, and he'll definitely reimburse you."

Song Chuyi's cowlick stood up. "Nice things? What nice things?"

    "Like what?"

This stumped Wang Assistant, as he had no experience in this area either!

"How about you search for some ideas?"

"Good idea!" Song Chuyi grabbed his phone and started searching.

Inside the banquet hall, glasses clinked together as Gu Bing stood in a corner, holding a glass of champagne. His expression was cold and aloof, making people hesitant to approach him.

Standing beside him, Zhao Cheng clicked his tongue. "Brother Gu, try to look less intimidating. Look how many people are too scared to come talk to you because of your cold face."

"Not necessary," Gu Bing replied coolly.

"Sure, sure," Zhao Cheng agreed. "Anyway, you're not one for romance."

"Not true," Gu Bing suddenly contradicted him. "I already have Song Chuyi."

Zhao Cheng was stunned, his eyes widening. "Brother Gu, you... you... you!"

Gu Bing took a sip of champagne, his Adam's apple bobbing, seemingly thinking of someone, and let out a low laugh.

    "He's quite cute."

Zhao Cheng opened his mouth, only managing to utter two words.

    "Holy shit!"

    A miracle has happened!
