Chapter 481: Who Are You?
by 棠棠Chapter 481 Who Are You?
Gu Yongnian didn’t notice Song Chuyi’s gaze—or perhaps he did but didn’t dare to face it.
With his back turned to Song Chuyi, his brows and eyes were shrouded in malice, piercing Shi San with a glare as the latter knelt on the ground.
Obscured by Gu Yongnian, Shi San couldn’t see Song Chuyi.
But at the same time, Song Chuyi couldn’t see Shi San either.
So Shi San dropped the pitiful act, his expression turning icy, with a flicker of anger upon closer inspection.
“If he didn’t come for me, did he come for you?”
“If I recall correctly, Gu Yongnian, you’re supposed to be on Central Planet No. 1.”
“This planet is under Mechanical Clan jurisdiction.”
As he spoke, Shi San pressed a hand against the ground, and a whirlwind erupted from his palm, sweeping across the desolate land. Soon, it uncovered a mechanical disc.
“This is our Mechanical Clan’s insignia,” he said, pointing at the mechanical disc.
In truth, such mechanical discs existed on most planets, as both humans and star beasts depended on Mechanical Clan tech.
The Zerg were the exception—they had no such preferences. With their numerous subspecies, they passed their sleepless days maintaining their subordinate planets by hand, never needing machines.
The Zerg were odd like that, insisting that hard work helped them sleep, yet they never seemed to get a good night’s rest.
Shi San lowered his gaze, not looking at Gu Yongnian.
He knew full well that Gu Yongnian was aware of the truth about the mechanical disc, but he wasn’t afraid Gu Yongnian would spill it.
Even if he did, it wouldn’t matter—because it was the truth.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Gu Yongnian revealed the truth about the mechanical disc.
Song Chuyi, eavesdropping, peeked out from behind him.
In that instant, Shi San quickly raised his head, his face instantly twisting into a pout.
Song Chuyi just stared and said to him, “Hey there.”
Shi San immediately introduced himself, “My name is Shi San—it sounds like ‘thirteen.’”
“You can call me Little Thirteen.”
Song Chuyi: …
He looked Shi San up and down—built like a tank—and couldn’t bring himself to utter the words “Little Thirteen.”
He coughed awkwardly. “Hello, Shi San.”
Seeing that Song Chuyi refused to call him “Little Thirteen,” Shi San’s eyes grew even more pitiful.
If other members of the Mechanical Clan saw this, they’d roast Shi San for pulling this sad puppy routine.
Then again… they’d totally do it too.
They possessed all the data on humans and naturally understood that humans were most susceptible to playing the victim card.
The one who loved humans would likely appreciate it too.
Holding onto this belief, Shisan's eyes—originally as cold as snow-capped mountains—now resembled crystal-clear pools, glistening with tears.
Song Chuyi: "..."
He silently rubbed the gooseflesh on his arms and pressed his lips together.
"Shisan, could you stand up? Let's talk?"
Yet Shisan stubbornly refused to rise, instead gazing at Song Chuyi and asking, "Are you here to pick me up?"
Song Chuyi's long lashes fluttered slightly as he asked in return, "Who are you?"
Shisan froze.
He had never considered this question before. The Mechanical Clan never wasted thought on who they were.
Their existence was like the vast cosmos itself—an unsolvable mystery.
They didn't contemplate the universe's secrets as humans did or seek the reason for their own existence.
But they'd never dream of deceiving him.
Unable to answer Song Chuyi's question, Shisan could only just stare at him, dumbstruck.
Those tear-filled eyes began freezing over, a layer of frost settling upon them, giving him an icy detachment.
