Song Chuyi's heart tightened.
He almost got guessed by Shen Han!
Fortunately, he wasn't really planning to leave; he just wanted a good night's sleep.
"No," he immediately denied, patting Shen Han's hand to reassure him, "Don't worry, I won't leave."
Shen Han lowered his eyes, the long lashes casting a faint shadow that obscured the indistinct light in his eyes.
"Really?"
It sounded like he was asking Song Chuyi, but also like he was questioning himself.
"Of course!" Song Chuyi answered firmly, "I'm your card, how could I ever leave you?"
Shen Han lifted his head, slowly curving his lips into a smile.
"Right, A'Chu is my soul card."
"I would die without A'Chu."
"A'Chu wouldn't want me to die, right?"
"Ugh, ugh, ugh!" Song Chuyi quickly covered Shen Han's mouth, "What are you saying? Don't say that!"
"I will definitely stay with you forever!"
Shen Han's smile deepened, and in the sunlight, a hint of crimson flickered in the depths of his dark pupils.
---
At Shen Shu's place, the second and third leaders of the Bureau of Evil Suppression came to inquire about the whereabouts of the person with the candy skewer card.
Shen Shu had been investigating for a long time but still hadn't found the person with the candy skewer card.
The two men weren't disappointed; they were just looking casually, and it didn't matter whether they found the person or not.
After asking around, they were about to leave when Shen Shu called them back.
"Gentlemen, how is the battle with my Ninth Younger Brother going?"
Due to the influence of the third leader's domain, the heated battle that had been trending on social media still hadn't reached a conclusion.
Shen Shu was a bit curious, no, very curious, which was why he boldly asked.
The second leader turned around first, narrowing his eyes, "That mysterious youth is your Ninth Younger Brother?"
Shen Shu was taken aback, not expecting that they didn't know this, and for a moment, he didn't know how to respond.
But both men were intelligent; seeing Shen Shu's reaction, they already guessed the answer.
"What's his name?" the second leader asked.
"Shen Han," Shen Shu answered honestly.
"And who's the one next to him?" the second leader asked again.
Shen Shu guessed they meant Song Chuyi and gave them his name.
The second leader seemed more interested in Song Chuyi, the one whose prophecy card had given the judgment "unparalleled."
"How much do you know about Song Chuyi?"
Shen Shu paused for two seconds, carefully considering before answering, "He has a lively personality, is good at conversation, but his thoughts are unpredictable, and I often can't guess what he's thinking."
"He and my Ninth Younger Brother are in a romantic relationship, and they have a very good relationship."
"He is very protective of my Ninth Younger Brother."
The second leader wasn't particularly concerned about their romantic status; he was more interested in Song Chuyi as a person.
"Do you know which Song family he belongs to?"
There was no Song family among the four major families of Lin City.
Not just Lin City, but none of the major families in other cities had the surname Song.
Logically, someone with such talent shouldn't have remained unknown for so many years.
That young man seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
Shen Shu shook his head, "I don't know, he never mentioned it."
The second leader asked a few more questions, but seeing that Shen Shu didn't know much, he decided to leave with the third leader.
The scenery in Lin City was beautiful, and after dismissing the third leader, the second leader planned to stay in Lin City for a couple more days.
But he didn't expect to be cornered.
In a dark alley, a masked youth stepped out of the shadows.
The second leader was taken aback, "Shen Han?"
Shen Han didn't seem surprised that the second leader knew his name, or perhaps he simply didn't care.
The second leader frowned, "What are you doing here?"
Shen Han didn’t speak; he only raised his hand.
The narrow alley seemed to make the air feel even more oppressive.
The prophecy card that Old Two had kept close to him suddenly flew out, spinning rapidly in mid-air.
A flash of bloodlight flickered over the card, and in an instant, it fell to the ground.
Old Two’s pupils constricted, his face a mix of fear and shock.
His prophecy card... was actually ruined!
How could this be? Shen Han could actually ruin a card? How did he do it?
Numerous doubts rose in his mind, and his gaze towards Shen Han was now tinged with fear.
Shen Han stood not far away, his eyes calm and unruffled.
“A’Chu doesn’t want me to kill, so I won’t kill you today.”
He spoke casually, as if killing was as natural to him as eating or drinking.
“But what happened today, you shouldn’t remember.”
A flash of red appeared in his eyes.
The Eye of Deprivation stripped away Old Two’s memory of the past few minutes.
Old Two’s eyes gradually became vacant.
Shen Han was satisfied, turned to leave, but then thought of something and looked back at him.
“Why didn’t the Bureau of Evil Suppression stop the beast tide?”
Old Two’s expression was blank. “I don’t know, it was the boss’s order.”
Shen Han frowned, hesitated no longer, and left.
The alley entrance returned to its usual tranquility.
—
Three days later, Song Chuyi received news from the Bureau of Evil Suppression.
Old Two had lost his prophecy card in an accident, so he was expelled from the Bureau of Evil Suppression and became an ordinary person.
Now the position of Second Knight was vacant, and anyone interested could sign up for the competition.
The ultimate victor would become the Second Knight.
Upon receiving this news, Song Chuyi’s eyes lit up. He wondered if Shen Han’s unknown wish might be to become the leader of the Bureau of Evil Suppression?
As an antagonist, how could he not be ambitious?
Song Chuyi immediately patted Shen Han’s thigh. “Shen Han, Shen Han, let’s go and participate in the competition for the Second Knight!”
Shen Han wrapped his arm around his waist from the side. “I’ll follow whatever A’Chu says.”
“Does A’Chu want to become the Second Knight?”
Song Chuyi shook his head. “Not me, you!”
“You should become the Second Knight.”
“Alright.” Shen Han nodded. “Whatever A’Chu wants, I’ll do.”
He moved closer without a word. “A’Chu, since I’m so obedient, shouldn’t I get a reward?”
Song Chuyi was in a good mood and pulled him in for a quick kiss.
Shen Han’s lips curved into a smile, and he took control, applying everything he had learned over the past few days to Song Chuyi.
From sunrise to sunset, and well into the night, Song Chuyi was exhausted and fell asleep without realizing it.
Shen Han, however, was still energetic. He even had the energy to wash the bed sheets he had just changed.
Not long after, he returned to the bedroom, standing at the foot of the bed, looking at the carefree, defenseless Song Chuyi who was sound asleep, his eyes filled with tenderness.
A black card with gilded edges flew out from his chest, hovering in mid-air.
Shen Han focused his mental energy, selecting the power of “prophecy” from among the many abilities stripped by the Eye of Deprivation.
To predict whether A’Chu would stay with him forever.
The card spun, and gradually, words began to appear in the air.
