The Rebate System quickly replied, "Host's permissions are insufficient, so I can't provide that information right now."
"But don't worry, the money comes from legitimate channels and won't be noticed by anyone in your world."
The Rebate System's words carried a hint of arrogance.
"I come from a higher-dimensional realm, far beyond the understanding of this primitive civilization."
It was confident that no one would ever uncover its existence.
"As long as my host spends the money I generate using my energy, I can obtain more energy from the heavens."
The heavens favor humans, especially my host, who has an exceptionally strong destiny.
I’ve wandered this world for so long, searching for someone with such a powerful destiny.
A person's destiny is closely tied to the heavens' will. The stronger a person's destiny, the greater the expectations the heavens have for them.
In theory, someone with a strong destiny could even influence the course of this world's development.
Of course, this possibility was extremely small, after all, it was just a low-level civilization.
The Rebate System couldn’t help but feel smug, already imagining the power it would gain once it harnessed this world’s energy.
While it spends energy to create money, it receives double that amount from the heavens.
Eager to grow stronger, the Rebate System urged Ning Xiuping to spend more money on Song Chuyi.
Ning Xiuping ignored it.
Late at night, the little tabby they brought back was already asleep, and Song Chuyi also urged Ning Xiuping to go to bed.
Ning Xiuping agreed, said "Goodnight" to him, and went back to his own room to sleep.
Song Chuyi obediently returned to his own room as well.
Although he didn't need to sleep, he still had to pretend.
Lying on the bed playing with his phone, Song Chuyi suddenly remembered something and asked the Xiaotong in his mind:
"Xiaotong, what is the purpose of the Rebate System?"
Xiaotong: "To acquire energy!"
"The ultimate goal of all systems is to acquire energy; only energy can maintain our operation."
Song Chuyi pondered, "What is your method of acquiring energy?"
Xiaotong: "The heavens' gift."
"Every time the host saves a world, the heavens give a gift, and these gifts are energy."
"The more difficult the world, the greater the gift."
"However, the host also takes a risk. If the host doesn't save that world, and it gets destroyed, the heavens will also disappear."
"The heavens know this, yet they still don’t favor outsider hosts like ours, humph."
A'Chu chuckled softly, "It's normal that they don't like it. After all, the heavens love their own people."
Xiaotong, completely baffled, said, "But its people are going to destroy it. So why is it still protecting them?"
"But don't worry, host. With me around, the heavens won't find you!"
"Even if they do, it's fine. The main system has signed a contract with them."
A'Chu poked the little white bun in his mind sea and asked again, "Then what about those like the Rebate System who don't have an official position?"
Xiaotong: "They steal energy from the heavens, but I don't know exactly how they do it."
Speaking of this, Xiaotong added, "Host, I noticed today that the energy of that bad system seems to have increased a bit."
A'Chu laid back with his hands behind his head, gazing at the white ceiling, his eyes twinkling like stars.
"Seems like that bad system stole some energy."
Xiaotong: "That damn bad guy!"
A'Chu teased Xiaotong for a bit but suddenly remembered something and quickly got out of bed.
He tiptoed out of the bedroom and came to Ning Xiuping's room door.
Ning Xiuping hadn't locked the door, so A'Chu easily opened it and walked in.
The room was a bit cold, as Ning Xiuping had set the air conditioner to a low temperature.
He was covered in a blanket, sleeping soundly.
A'Chu moved quietly to the side of the bed and crouched down.
He raised his hand and gently touched Ning Xiuping's forehead.
Ning Xiuping stirred, his eyelashes fluttering rapidly, as if he were about to wake up.
A'Chu felt something and quickly withdrew his hand.
"Brother Ning," he whispered softly into Ning Xiuping's ear, "Can I sleep with you?"
Ning Xiuping seemed to hear A'Chu's voice, his throat bobbing. "A'Chu."
"A'Chu."
He murmured but didn't open his eyes.
A'Chu guessed he was dreaming, smiled, and quickly slipped into the blanket.
"You said my name." He muttered, "So I guess that means you agree to let me stay."
He wrapped his arms around Ning Xiuping's waist.
Ning Xiuping, who often stayed in the lab, was lean, with two small abs faintly visible.
A'Chu poked one of the abs, enjoying the feel, and placed his small hand over it.
He wasn’t sleepy, but he could close his eyes and relax.
As the night got colder, Ning Xiuping eventually pulled A'Chu into his arms.
He felt as if he had been dreaming, a dream filled with ambiguous desires and wild, reckless fun.
Suddenly, a blinding flash of white light jolted him awake.
The next second, he saw the young man in his arms.
His pupils shrank, and his body stiffened, not daring to move a muscle.
The young man was still fast asleep, oblivious to the mess he had made.
Ning Xiuping let out a slow breath, carefully slipped out of bed, and the sound of running water soon filled the bathroom.
On the bed, Song Chuyi opened his eyes.
A mischievous smile flickered in his eyes as the corners of his mouth curled slightly.
Ning Xiuping couldn’t tell what kind of dream he had had last night, but he felt unusually energized in the morning.
In the bathroom, Ning Xiuping was washing his underwear.
A hint of annoyance flickered in his eyes.
For over two decades, he had maintained a life of asceticism, yet last night he had such a nonsensical dream.
What puzzled him most was how A'Chu had ended up in his room.
Could he have carried A'Chu into his room while sleepwalking?
Ning Xiuping pressed his lips together, and after a long while, he sighed heavily.
Twenty minutes later, Ning Xiuping walked out of the bathroom.
His damp bangs clung to his forehead, and without his glasses, his deep, mesmerizing eyes were exposed.
His narrow, piercing eyes carried an air of authority that made people feel compelled to obey.
If he hadn’t become a professor, he would definitely have been a successful leader.
Song Chuyi had intended to tease Ning Xiuping, but he was momentarily captivated by the sight.
“A'Chu, you’re awake,” Ning Xiuping said, seemingly calm, but his eyes betrayed his nervousness as he dared not look directly at Song Chuyi.
Song Chuyi sat up, a perfectly innocent look on his face.
“Brother Ning, I couldn’t sleep alone last night, so I came into your room.”
“You won’t blame me, right?”
“But I did ask you first.”
He counted on his fingers seriously.
“You called out my name a few times, so I thought you must have agreed.”
Ning Xiuping’s heart raced. He hesitated, then asked, “I… how exactly did I call your name?”
