Chapter 444: The Little Mute Trapped in the Dungeon is Kept (31)
by 棠棠Chapter 444: The Little Mute Trapped in the Dungeon Gets Taken Care Of (31)
Song Chuyi hadn’t expected Si Song to find him so quickly.
But since he’d already told the fried chicken shop owner to ask Si Song for money, it made sense that he’d come looking for him, right?
Song Chuyi blinked and looked up at him.
Si Song lowered his head at the same time, their gazes locking.
“Can you speak now?”
Bringing this up just made Song Chuyi glare at him.
He could have spoken!
If not for the item Si Song used on him, linking their lives together, he would have regained his true form long ago.
Goddamn it, he really wanted to talk.
Seeing no response, Si Song knew the answer.
He reached out and gave Song Chuyi’s cheek a pinch. “It’s okay if you can’t speak. I can speak for you.”
—No, he wanted to speak for himself.
He pushed Si Song away, taking half a step back.
The moment he was pushed back, Si Song’s eyes darkened momentarily.
But it quickly faded, replaced by a subtle smile.
“When did you get here?”
“Why didn’t you come find me? Didn’t you miss me?”
“I’ve missed you like crazy. I’ve been searching for you all this time.”
“It’s dangerous here now. There are tons of monsters. You must stay by my side, got it?”
—
Song Chuyi raised his hand and covered Si Song’s mouth.
So loud! Shut up!
With one hand muffling Si Song’s words, he grabbed his arm with the other and pulled him toward the barbecue restaurant.
Si Song allowed himself to be led inside.
Once inside, Si Song said, “A booth, please.”
After they entered the booth, Song Chuyi started looking at the menu while Si Song watched him and said, “Do you really like eating these?”
“My cooking is pretty good too. Wanna come home with me?” he thought. “I can make all kinds of tasty dishes for you.”
Song Chuyi nodded slightly, choosing not to respond verbally.
Song Chuyi pretended not to hear and finished ordering an assortment of grilled meats before finally looking up at Si Song.
After a moment of thought, he shook his head.
Si Song's previously relaxed expression seemed to stiffen, and even the warmth in his gaze dimmed slightly.
"Why doesn’t A'Chu want to come home with me?"
"Did you take interest in someone else?"
"Who is it? Zhou Bosheng? Wu Xiong? Or Lou Lanyao?"
Song Chuyi looked at him in confusion—why was he bringing this up again?
Was the 'Hypnotic Doll' still affecting him?
That shouldn’t be the case. The instance was already over, so the item should’ve worn off by now.
As if reading Song Chuyi's mind, Si Song asked softly, "If A'Chu doesn’t like or care about anyone, then why can’t you come home with me?"
"I can cook delicious food for A'Chu and protect you too."
"I’ll give A'Chu anything you want."
Song Chuyi: …
He dabbed his finger in tea and scrawled two words on the table: *Too noisy.*
Si Song froze for a moment before a spark of delight flashed in his eyes.
"So A'Chu just thinks I talk too much? You don’t dislike me?"
Song Chuyi: …
He didn’t dislike him, nor was he actually bothered by the noise.
It was just… he just wanted to talk, damn it!
Song Chuyi gave Si Song a pointedly resentful look and reached out, gesturing for him to hand over his phone.
Si Song quickly understood and actually passed it to him.
Song Chuyi quickly typed out on the phone: "I’ll go home with you, but I need to be able to speak."
After typing, he handed the phone back to Si Song, gesturing for him to read.
Si Song studied the message carefully before saying, "Okay, I’ll figure out a way to let A'Chu speak."
"But the outside world is too dangerous."
"Until I figure it out, can A'Chu come home with me?"
Song Chuyi thought for a few seconds before nodding.
Sticking with the villain was the safest option.
But he had one stipulation.
"No nagging."
Upon seeing this, Si Song let out a wry chuckle.
"Alright, alright, whatever A'Chu says."
"As long as A'Chu comes home with me, I'll agree to anything."
Song Chuyi picked up the grill tongs and handed them to him.
Si Song took the tongs and began grilling skillfully.
Say what you will, Si Song grilled like a pro, ensuring Song Chuyi pigged out.
After the meal, Si Song paid the bill and naturally took Song Chuyi home.
Contrary to Song Chuyi's expectations of a big villa, Si Song lived in an apartment belonging to the Fate Association.
He shared the apartment with Zhou Bosheng and others.
The interior followed a basic two-bedroom setup, with nearly identical decor.
Upon arriving, Song Chuyi took over Si Song's bedroom and kicked him out to the guest room.
Not being able to talk made him the boss—no one could make him suffer!
With monsters newly arrived, Si Song had plenty of gear on hand and should have been busy, yet he cleared his schedule for Song Chuyi.
But even so, when orders came down, he had no choice but to leave.
Before departing, he approached Song Chuyi and gave his cheek a playful pinch.
"I got you a phone tied to my spare card. Get whatever food you're craving."
"I'll be back soon."
Song Chuyi nodded, shooing him off.
Si Song smiled helplessly and pressed a kiss to his hair.
From an angle Song Chuyi couldn't see, his eyes turned pitch-black, hiding something inscrutable.
After Si Song left, Song Chuyi lay in bed scrolling on his phone.
Though he couldn't speak in reality, he could still go ham on the keyboard and goof off with his internet buddies!
So Song Chuyi typed furiously, his fingers dancing across the keyboard in a blur.
Xiaotong piped up in his mind, "Host, the mission is complete."
Song Chuyi wasn't surprised by this outcome.
As he had guessed, once the infinite world closed and the monsters descended, people on Aqua-Blue Star would be sitting ducks.
But now, things were different.
Si Song and the others had brought back gear from the dungeons, enough to deal with the monsters for now.
As for the future...
He had faith in human cleverness.
By utilizing those tools and the corpses of the monsters, they are bound to develop many useful things.
This presents a tremendous opportunity for the entire Blue Water Star—it all depends on whether they can seize it.
Song Chuyi sat up, put away his phone, and poked the little white bun floating in his mind-space.
"Does finishing the mission mean I can actually sleep now?"
He distinctly remembered Xiaotong saying that once the mission was done, he could sleep.
Xiaotong: "Host, why don’t you try?"
Song Chuyi thought Xiaotong’s suggestion was excellent. With a grunt of agreement, he closed his eyes and gradually drifted off to sleep.
He was asleep, but not really.
Amidst a swirling black fog, he saw Si Song.
Si Song wielded a tool, fighting a ferocious monster.
The artifacts from the dungeons weren’t omnipotent—taking down monsters still took work.
Especially one as savage and bizarre as the one before him, clearly too much for rookie team members to handle.
Looking through the black fog, Song Chuyi watched as Si Song used the tool to take out the monster.
Something about Si Song fighting set his heart pounding.
