by 棠棠Chapter 212: The Little Dan Spirit of the Nine-Tailed Fox Is Super Good at Compliments (16)
After a meeting ended, Yu Tiangong realized that his former friend must be a lovesick fool.
Well, in human terms, a lovesick fool that no remedy could fix.
For a moment, Yu Tiangong felt envious.
His friend seemed to have found his purpose as a demon, while he, despite having been in human form for so many years, still couldn’t find his own purpose as a human.
Feeling a little lost, Yu Tiangong followed the crowd out of the meeting room.
Soon, only Hu Jiutian and Song Chuyi were left in the meeting room.
Hu Jiutian closed his laptop and looked up at the youth floating in the air.
His eyelashes fluttered slightly as he spoke slowly, "A'Chu, come here."
Song Chuyi drifted over casually and poked his cheek.
"What is it?"
Seeing how obedient Song Chuyi was, Hu Jiutian couldn’t help but smile.
He spread his arms wide, his voice tinged with a plea.
"Hug me."
Song Chuyi leaned down and gently hugged him.
Hu Jiutian seized the moment to wrap his arms around Song Chuyi’s slim waist and pull him onto his lap.
His fingertips lightly brushed the exposed skin on Song Chuyi's wrist.
Soft and warm, but shielded by a faint layer of spiritual energy.
He couldn’t truly touch his skin.
This stirred an inexplicable frustration in Hu Jiutian’s heart.
"When can I just hug A'Chu whenever I want?"
He muttered, his eyes gradually turning blood red.
Song Chuyi patted his head. "You can hug me anytime, you know."
"Besides, I’ve got plenty of spiritual energy—might as well put it to use."
Hu Jiutian suppressed the irritation in his heart and looked up at Song Chuyi, smiling gently.
"A'Chu is right, I can hug you whenever I want right now."
But he was actually quite greedy.
What he wanted wasn’t just to be able to hug him whenever he wanted.
There were other things—darker desires he couldn’t voice, for fear of tarnishing the beauty of the young man before him.
Hu Jiutian kept those thoughts buried deep inside, maintaining a calm facade.
He lowered his head and nuzzled Song Chuyi's neck softly.
"A'Chu smells amazing."
Song Chuyi: ...
If coffee counts as smelling good, then sure, I guess. It’s also a smell, anyway.
Not sure if it’s because of being in a spiritual form, but Song Chuyi felt like his whole body reeked of coffee right now.
One sniff and you’d be wide awake.
But some people actually like the smell of coffee, and Hu Jiutian might be one of them.
Song Chuyi blinked and ran a hand through Hu Jiutian’s hair.
"Even if it smells good, you should take it easy on the sniffing."
Hu Jiutian frowned, and the extreme lack of security made him start to overthink.
Why did A'Chu want him to smell it less? Was it... because he disliked him?
The thought made Hu Jiutian feel hurt and frustrated.
He tightened his grip on Song Chuyi, his voice rough with emotion.
"No."
"I want to keep smelling it."
Song Chuyi: ...
"Forget it," he said, resting his chin on his hand. "Go ahead if you want to keep smelling it."
Anyway, he could see that Hu Jiutian seemed to be in good spirits and indeed didn’t seem to need much sleep.
Hearing this, Hu Jiutian felt a bit more satisfied.
He held on for a while but eventually had to let go because his assistant knocked on the door to report on work.
Hu Jiutian went back to work, and Song Chuyi followed slowly. As he passed the break room, he spotted Yu Tiangong.
He paused, changed direction, and floated in front of Yu Tiangong.
Yu Tiangong was startled, his hand holding the coffee cup trembling slightly.
"You..." Yu Tiangong said in surprise, "Did Hu Jiutian let you wander off?"
Song Chuyi gave a soft hum. "Of course. I do what I please."
Yu Tiangong fell silent for a brief moment.
He hadn’t expected Hu Jiutian, now in human form, to have shed his possessive instincts and let this young man roam free.
"What do you want from me?" he asked proactively.
"I want to learn about the Hu Jiutian from the past," Song Chuyi said slowly. "Has he ever left Jing City?"
Yu Tiangong shook his head. "Probably not."
"Back when I first met him, he lived in a bamboo forest just outside Jing City."
"After I transformed into human form, I lost track."
"Maybe he's left at some point in the past few years, who knows."
Yu Tiangong asked curiously, "Why are you asking this?"
"There's something that I'm a bit concerned about," Song Chuyi said, with a thoughtful look in his eyes.
He was still bothered by Hu Jiutian's accent.
Usually, he didn't have an accent when speaking, but why did he always pronounce the word 'mo' (touch) with a second tone whenever it came to touching abs?
Yu Tiangong had no idea what Song Chuyi was thinking and inevitably jumped to another conclusion.
His heart sank, "You look down on him for not being a local fox from Jing City?"
Song Chuyi: ???
"Ha?" Shocked, Song Chuyi could only manage a single syllable.
Yu Tiangong's expression darkened, "I know humans really care about whether someone is local or not, but we are all demons. Since Hu Jiutian has recognized you as his master, why would you still care if he's from around here or not?"
He felt a bit indignant for his friend.
Song Chuyi twitched at the corner of his mouth, feeling completely at a loss for words.
"You... really learn everything, huh?"
"How could I possibly care about that?"
"Jiutian is my most beloved little darling, it doesn’t matter if he’s from around here or not."
Yu Tiangong was about to say something more but abruptly closed his mouth when his eyes landed behind Song Chuyi.
At the entrance of the tea room, Hu Jiutian was gazing at Song Chuyi with an almost adoring look.
"A'Chu." His ears turned slightly red, "I'm your most beloved little darling, do you have any other little darlings?"
Though shy, he still had to ask.
Song Chuyi shook his head hurriedly, "No no, you're my only little darling!"
He floated over and gently kissed his now slightly pink ear.
"Only you~"
Hu Jiutian was even happier.
He glanced sideways at Yu Tiangong, his eyes flashing with impatience.
"A'Chu, don't talk to dirty things."
He took Song Chuyi's hand, "This place isn’t clean; let’s go back to my office."
Song Chuyi smiled and replied, "Okay."
Yu Tiangong:……
Oh man, now he's become a nobody.
It's not like he hadn't picked through trash before!
Love-sick, how pathetic!
Yu Tiangong finished the coffee in his cup and walked out of the break room.
He set his sights on something; he needed to work hard, earn money to look sharp, and prove that he wasn't some dirty thing!
Although he wasn't as good-looking as Hu Jiutian, humans had plenty of cosmetics. With some makeup, he could still look decent.
Yu Tiangong silently resolved to achieve his goal, and at that moment, inside the office, Hu Jiutian had pulled Song Chuyi into his embrace.
"A'Chu, don't talk to other men, okay?"
He said almost pleadingly.
Song Chuyi pinched his earlobe and got a mischievous idea.
"So no talking to guys, but what about girls?"
Hu Jiutian tightened his hold, "Absolutely not!"
