Chapter 498: Extra Story: Falling for the Rival (1)
by 棠棠Chapter 498 Extra: Falling for My Nemesis (1)
In the haze, Song Chuyi slowly opened his eyes.
He stared at the white ceiling and rubbed his temples.
So this was Gu Yongnian’s fantasy space?
It looked deceptively normal.
Thinking about it, Song Chuyi wasn’t sure what to say.
Gu Yongnian’s mental turmoil had nearly stabilized, but then a new dimension ascended to a higher plane—one dominated by zombies.
After the Interstellar Alliance incorporated it, they underestimated the influence of the zombie virus, triggering manic impulses among many who got zombie-fighting fever.
The formerly stable dynamic between the four major powers was disrupted by the new force.
Chaos came with the territory during power shifts, but Gu Yongnian happened to be attacked by zombies while out getting him milk tea.
Not a scratch on him, but his mind snapped, and he got stuck thinking they were archenemies.
Left with no choice, Song Chuyi worked with the institute’s treatment plan, entering Gu Yongnian’s fantasy space as a mental projection.
Letting out a quiet sigh, Song Chuyi sat up, propping himself up with one hand.
As soon as he did, a tiny black cat vaulted into his lap.
Song Chuyi raised an eyebrow slightly and picked up the cat, cradling it in his arms.
"Mornin’, Xiaotong."
The black cat nuzzled his palm and spoke in human language.
"Boss! Boss! Are we here to stop the villain from destroying the world again?"
Xiaotong seemed excited, squirming eagerly in Song Chuyi’s palm.
Song Chuyi chuckled helplessly. "No world-saving mission this time. This is Gu Yongnian’s fantasy space. We don’t need to stop him from ending the world."
The little black cat went statue-still, staring at its host.
Song Chuyi patted its tiny head. "I’m not sure what to do yet either. We’ll play it by ear."
He grabbed his phone and typed in "Gu Yongnian," and information immediately popped up.
"Gu Yongnian: Majority stakeholder of Chusheng Group, current CEO…"
Followed by a laundry list of lofty titles.
Song Chuyi then searched his own name.
"Song Chuyi: CEO of Song Group."
Just one line—apparently, his identity in Gu Yongnian’s fantasy world was kept oddly vague.
Song Chuyi quickly accepted his role, rolled out of bed, and into CEO mode.
Being a CEO? He knew the drill.
Holding the little black cat, he arrived at Song Group. No sooner had he sat down when his assistant walked in.
"Boss, there's a meeting with Chusheng Group today. Should we send the manager as usual?"
Song Chuyi's eyes gleamed faintly. Chusheng Group? Isn't that Gu Yongnian's company?
"I'll attend personally today," Song Chuyi commanded.
"Hand me the files."
The assistant quickly handed over the files to Song Chuyi.
Skimming through them, Song Chuyi saw that the meeting's central agenda item was the development rights for the southwestern suburbs.
The authorities didn’t want to offend either Song Group or Chusheng Group, so they punted the issue to the two parties to negotiate.
This was already the third round of meetings, with both sides digging in their heels, and no resolution had been reached yet.
After reviewing the files, Song Chuyi made his way to the conference venue.
In the large conference room, he'd barely settled in when the door opened from the outside.
Gu Yongnian, dressed in a black suit with neatly combed hair, made his entrance.
His eyes were icy, exuding cold detachment.
Song Chuyi: "..."
Been ages since he’d seen Gu Yongnian look this cold.
Huh... suddenly he wanted to kiss that icy expression away.
