Chapter 3: The Insomniac CEO's Canary Has Gone Wild (3)

Gu Bing picked up his phone, glanced at it, then turned it off and put it back into his suit pocket.

    "Song Chuyi."

He called out to the young man in front of him.

Song Chuyi turned around and looked at him, "Boss Gu, what is it?"

"Isn't just climbing the mountain boring?" Gu Bing walked a few steps closer to Song Chuyi. "How about we chat while walking?"

"Sure!" Song Chuyi smiled brightly. "What do you want to talk about, Boss Gu?"

Gu Bing asked casually as they walked, "Which university did you graduate from?"

Song Chuyi recalled for a moment and answered honestly, "South China University, Department of Literature."

"My grades weren't great, and it's hard to find a job in the humanities these days."

Gu Bing's expression didn't change much; he seemed genuinely casual.

"How many people are in your family?"

"Two, just my parents. They both work back home."

Song Chuyi's heart skipped a beat. Could Gu Bing have noticed that he wasn't the original person?

To prevent Gu Bing from asking more questions, he quickly asked, "Boss Gu, how many people are in your family?"

"The same as you." Gu Bing's tone was indifferent. "My parents are traveling around and won't be back anytime soon."

Song Chuyi scratched his head, not quite understanding what Gu Bing meant by that.

He wouldn't meet his parents anyway, so it didn't matter if they didn't come back.

Gu Bing observed Song Chuyi's expression, a hint of darkness passing through his eyes.

"Do you know why Zhao Cheng sent you here?"

"I know, to help you sleep," Song Chuyi recalled. "Oh right, he also said I'm a canary."

Although he really disliked those birds.

They always chirped, often disturbing his sleep!

Not that he had ever managed to fall asleep successfully.

Gu Bing chuckled softly at the young man's straightforward words.

"It seems you don't know how to be a canary."

Song Chuyi blinked curiously, "How should I do it?"

"First, you need to change how you address me." Gu Bing patiently instructed, "Don't call me Boss Gu."

"Then should I call you Boss Bing?" Song Chuyi counted on his fingers, offering alternatives. "Brother Gu? Brother Bing? Golden Master?"

    "Which one do you like?"

He genuinely asked, but to Gu Bing, it sounded like genuine foolishness.

He looked at him with a half-smile, arms crossed, "Really don't know?"

"Hmm..." Song Chuyi tried to guess Gu Bing's thoughts and tentatively suggested, "Sweetheart?"

    Gu Bing: ...

    "Call me Brother Gu."

Song Chuyi promptly called out, "Brother Gu!"

"Brother Gu, are you thirsty? I brought water."

As he spoke, he took out a bottle of mineral water from his backpack and considerately opened it before handing it to Gu Bing.

Gu Bing took the bottle, took a sip, and casually asked, "Do you often go hiking?"

"Yes," Song Chuyi replied, then realized something and coughed lightly. "Not often, just when the job market pressure gets too high."

"Oh right." Song Chuyi rubbed his hands together. "Brother Gu, we haven't discussed the salary yet?"

"How much will I get paid for being this canary?"

He had never done this before, but since a coffee bean was worth one yuan, and he had thousands of them, he figured it should be at least ten thousand yuan, right?

Gu Bing closed the bottle cap and asked with a half-smile, "How much do you want?"

Song Chuyi held up one finger.

"Ten thousand?" Gu Bing's eyes narrowed slightly. "You're not being modest."

Song Chuyi was about to explain that he meant ten thousand when Gu Bing continued, "Ten thousand a month, triple pay at the end of the year."

"Wow!" Song Chuyi exclaimed. Triple pay at the end of the year! What an amazing benefactor!

"Brother Gu, just tell me what you want, and I'll do it!"

He patted his chest, "I can do anything!"

Gu Bing let out a soft tsk and tossed the bottle of mineral water to Song Chuyi, then quickened his pace up the mountain.

The night path seemed narrow and cold, but fortunately, the moon was full tonight, barely illuminating the way ahead.

Song Chuyi held a flashlight, dutifully shining it for Gu Bing.

Time passed quietly, and before they knew it, it was four in the morning.

A faint light appeared on the horizon, making the path ahead visible without the need for a flashlight.

Song Chuyi put the flashlight away at this moment and casually praised, "Brother Gu, you have great stamina."

With fine sweat on his forehead and slightly labored breathing, Gu Bing did not respond.

He glanced at Song Chuyi, who was not even out of breath, unsure if the praise was genuine or sarcastic.

Perhaps feeling thirsty from the walk, Song Chuyi took out the bottle of mineral water, not bothering to check it, and unscrewed the cap to take a sip.

Some water droplets landed on the corners of his lips, giving them a glistening sheen.

Gu Bing paused in his steps.

"Aren't you carrying two bottles of water?"

Song Chuyi wiped his mouth, "Yeah."

He looked at the bottle in his hand, "Huh? Did I drink the wrong one? No worries, no worries, we're both guys!"

After saying that, he took another big gulp.

Gu Bing's eyes darkened slightly. The seemingly carefree teenager knew how to be alluring.

The two bottles had different weights, yet he chose the one Gu Bing had drunk from. Even when caught, he wasn't embarrassed and continued drinking openly.

    He was different from others.

Gu Bing's lips curved into a slight smile as he extended his hand, "Give it to me."

Song Chuyi handed over the half-empty bottle of water to Gu Bing, "Brother Gu, sip slowly; we still have to go down the mountain later."

Gu Bing paused, deliberately turning the bottle so that the spot where Song Chuyi had drunk was on the other side, and he drank from the untouched part.

Song Chuyi didn't notice Gu Bing's small action; he was busy checking the map.

"If we walk for another thirty minutes, we'll be there."

He put away his phone and flashed a bright smile at Gu Bing.

"We'll catch the sunrise just right."

Gu Bing was momentarily dazzled by that smile.

Despite being someone who could be alluring, his smile was pure and innocent, stirring something within him.

By the time Gu Bing regained his composure, Song Chuyi had walked far ahead.

If he hesitated any longer, he might lose sight of him.

Gu Bing quickly caught up with Song Chuyi, and after half an hour, they reached the summit.

Song Chuyi had a few beads of sweat on his forehead, while in the distance, the sun quietly rose from the high mountains, its light casting a glow on him, making even those few drops of sweat shine brightly.

He spread his arms wide, tilting his head slightly upward, his delicate Adam's apple moving gently, and the exposed skin gleaming white.

Gu Bing felt his breathing grow heavier, probably due to the climb.

He forced himself to look away and appreciate the hard-earned sunrise.

In an instant, the sun hidden behind the mountains had risen to the sky, its warmth dispersing the night's mist, making everything clear and distinct.

Gu Bing turned his head to look at Song Chuyi.

His eyes closed, his long, curled lashes were stunningly beautiful.
