Chapter 459: Little Transparent (13)
by 棠棠Chapter 459 The Invisible One (13)
A flicker of hesitation crossed his eyes.
"I kinda resent you."
You Jian, upon hearing this, wasn’t upset; instead, he laughed.
His laughter was filled with joy, mingled with an unfathomable sense of relief and affection.
"I know."
It seemed he had recalled countless memories, to the point where a tall, handsome figure flickered into view behind him.
Song Chuyi saw that figure and softly sighed.
"Just as I thought."
The antagonist was regaining his memories.
This journey’s almost over, isn’t it?
The moment this thought arose, time, once still, lurched forward.
Everything returned to normal—the lights sputtered overhead, and a cold wind blew outside.
Leaves rustled, and birds chattered.
On the large bed, You Jian drew him close into an embrace.
Song Chuyi closed his eyes and said to Xiaotong in his mind:
"Xiaotong, disengage."
Xiaotong: "Got it, host."
The mission had already ended the moment that tall, handsome figure appeared.
A white light emerged, enveloping Song Chuyi’s figure.
You Jian’s eyes widened in realization, his voice softening and his expression solemn.
"A-Chu, I never blamed you."
As these words fell, the world stilled again.
The person in his arms had vanished without a trace, leaving only You Jian standing there, his expression icy.
He extended his hand, and a tiny orb coalesced within his grasp.
Reality warped—the once-normal scenery dissolved into darkness.
From the void, an enormous hand reached out, seized the orb in You Jian’s grasp, and hurled it into a nearby black hole.
A robotic voice intoned:
"Reset."
The darkness consumed You Jian’s body, transforming it into a streak of white light that streaked into the unknown.
Song Chuyi awoke in the darkness.
Outside the door was the voice of his host body's mother.
"Chuyi, get up and have breakfast. It's your first day of college, so you should get up early."
Song Chuyi answered and sat up, without asking Xiaotong to share the backstory or reading the host body's memories.
He got ready quickly and left the bedroom.
At the dining table, Song Mu and her husband were already waiting.
"Chuyi, come and have breakfast," Song Mu said with a beaming smile.
Beside her, Song's father looked rather stern, but upon closer inspection, there was still a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Song Chuyi walked over and flashed them a bright smile.
"Good morning, Mom and Dad."
The family ate breakfast together, after which Song Mu left for work, while Song's father drove Song Chuyi to campus first.
In the car, Song Chuyi gazed at the perfectly normal human world, his long eyelashes fluttering faintly.
He raised his hand to touch the cold car window but pulled it back quickly.
Upon arriving at the campus gates, Song's father offered some advice.
"Chuyi, if anyone gives you trouble at school, you must tell us, understand?"
Song Chuyi nodded meekly.
Seeing him so well-behaved today, Song's father sighed.
"We know you've faded into the background since you were little, but we truly don’t want you to hurt yourself just for attention again."
"Remember, no matter what, we love you."
Song Chuyi smiled brightly.
"I know."
He opened the car door and waved at Song's father.
"Bye, Dad."
Song's father chuckled warmly.
"Bye, Chuyi."
He watched as Song Chuyi entered the university before pulling away.
At the campus gates, Song Chuyi, who should've been inside by now, reappeared.
He watched the departing car until it disappeared from view before turning away.
Students bustled past him, yet nobody seemed to see him.
Only Xiaotong in his head spoke up just then.
"Host, the Main System says there's no need to complete any tasks in this world, nor to stop the villain from destroying it."
Song Chuyi headed toward campus while responding, "Hmm, what else?"
Xiaotong: "The Main System told me to tell you: Have fun."
Song Chuyi stopped mid-step.
Then he gave a quiet chuckle, "Perfect as is."
Xiaotong: "Host, should I send you the villain's information for this world?"
Song Chuyi shook his head, "No need, this is perfect as is."
Xiaotong: "Host, then we'll just ignore the villains in this world. Just enjoy yourself~"
Song Chuyi patted the little white bun in his mind-space.
"Do we still have energy reserves?"
Xiaotong: "Plenty left."
Song Chuyi nodded, "Xiaotong, feel free to use it—gobble up gossip, crunch on seeds, whatever you like."
Xiaotong: "!!!"
This is amazing!
Xiaotong felt as if a giant pastry had dropped from heaven.
It grabbed hold and started devouring it hungrily.
People have it all wrong—who said pastries never fall from the sky? Look, one just did!
Song Chuyi heard Xiaotong cracking seeds in his mind-space, and his eyes sparkled with amusement. He picked up his phone and scrolled through his schedule.
After locating the right classroom, he walked in without a single glance his way.
No—to be precise, no one noticed him at all.
He was so unnoticeable that even standing right beside others, he wouldn’t be noticed.
Song Chuyi took a seat by the window, picked up his textbook, and began flipping through it.
The class bell hadn’t rung yet, and the room wasn’t crowded, but one person stood out like a spotlight.
He was handsome, tall, and radiated an aristocratic vibe that set him apart from everyone else.
Even in this top-ranked national university, he still stood out.
Just sitting there, he naturally commanded attention.
As students filed in for class, they spotted him immediately.
Murmurs rippled through the room.
"Who's the hottie in front?"
"You don't know? That's Gu Yongnian, who became the school's top heartthrob with just his ID photo even before the semester started."
"This guy is also the sole heir of the Gu family, born into wealth."
"I heard last night his dorm entrance was piled high with love letters. Someone like him is out of our league."
…………
Gu Yongnian absentmindedly twirled a black pen in his hand. What lay before him wasn’t a textbook but paperwork from one of Gu Group's subsidiaries.
He flipped through the files effortlessly, signing his name where needed.
He sat in the first row by the window, while Song Chuyi was tucked away in the last seat of the same column.
They were worlds apart—one impossible to miss, the other nearly invisible.
When the class bell rang, both looked up as the professor entered.
The lecture began. Gu Yongnian divided his attention, only half-paying attention to the lesson while reviewing documents.
Song Chuyi focused entirely on the lecture until it ended, then stood and left the classroom.
Gu Yongnian glanced toward the door, his eyes briefly tracking Song Chuyi.
"Brother Gu, what are you looking at?" a roommate asked beside him.
Gu Yongnian collected his documents, shrugged, and said, "Nothing."
