Chapter 5: The Insomniac CEO’s Canary Gone Wild (5)
byChapter 5: The Insomniac CEO's Canary Gone Wild (5)
Song Chuyi felt an itch in his ear and raised his hand to pinch his earlobe.
The originally fair skin turned red after a few rubs, looking enticingly vivid under the dim light.
Gu Bing’s eyes darkened slightly as he loosened his tie with one hand.
"Did Zhao Cheng say anything else when he asked you to stay by my side?"
This question caught Song Chuyi off guard.
Recalling the memories of his original body, he shook his head. "He didn’t say much."
"He just said to take good care of you."
As he spoke, he secretly glanced at Gu Bing.
Gu Bing lacked nothing; the butler and servants at home took excellent care of him. Why did he need him to serve him?
Humans were indeed strange.
"Is that so?" Gu Bing’s voice was sexy and low, carrying a hint of drowsiness.
Song Chuyi nodded earnestly. "Yes, that’s exactly what he said."
"He said I’d get paid if I made you happy."
As he spoke, he leaned forward, coming close to Gu Bing.
"Brother Gu, are you happy?"
Gu Bing’s eyelashes lowered slightly. Song Chuyi was too close, close enough for him to see his own reflection in Song Chuyi’s eyes.
His face was pale, with faint dark circles under his eyes, and a gloominess seemed to seep from between his brows.
He was momentarily stunned.
So this is how he looked in Song Chuyi’s eyes?
"Brother Gu?"
Seeing that Gu Bing wasn’t responding, Song Chuyi leaned closer.
He placed his left hand on the sofa, his wrist touching the outer side of Gu Bing’s thigh.
Gu Bing snapped back to reality and glanced down.
Even through his suit pants, he could feel the warmth emanating from Song Chuyi, contrasting sharply with his own coldness.
Gu Bing narrowed his eyes. "Why are you so close?"
His voice was slightly cold. "Sit up straight."
"Okay." Song Chuyi straightened his posture, placing both hands on his thighs, like a well-behaved student waiting to be fed.
Gu Bing’s lips twitched slightly. The stress from work seemed to dissipate a bit due to Song Chuyi’s simple obedience.
"Come here."
Song Chuyi obediently leaned closer again.
Gu Bing lowered his gaze, not saying anything further.
The warmth from Song Chuyi’s presence on his right side made him feel a bit dazed. Knowing it was unattainable, he still found himself inevitably drawn into it.
Sleepiness washed over him, and his exhausted body finally found a moment of respite, pulling his relaxed nerves into darkness.
Song Chuyi didn’t hear Gu Bing speak for a while and turned to look at him.
Gu Bing had actually fallen asleep!
"Xiaotong, Xiaotong!" Song Chuyi called out in his mind. "Gu Bing actually fell asleep sitting up!"
System: "Really? Not bad, Host! You’re truly amazing!"
"As long as the antagonist sleeps well, he won’t be in a bad mood and won’t destroy the world!"
The system seemed to envision a flood of points pouring into its little bag, its voice tinged with excitement.
"You’re the best, Host!"
Song Chuyi: "Hehe, when can I go to sleep?"
Xiaotong: "Well, you can sleep once you complete your task, right?"
Song Chuyi: "Hmm, what does completing the task mean?"
Xiaotong was also a bit confused. "I don’t know either, but I’ll receive a notification when you complete your task!"
"I’ll let you know then!"
At the current progress, the host might complete the task within a month!
Xiaotong began to imagine a glorious future of continuous battles with the host, reaching the pinnacle of system life.
It let out a silly laugh, and Song Chuyi also laughed silly.
Being able to sleep after completing the task was definitely something to be happy about.
Before Song Chuyi could even enjoy the moment for a few minutes, Gu Bing's eyelashes fluttered, and he opened his eyes.
Song Chuyi: !!!
He quickly reached out to cover Gu Bing's eyes, speaking urgently, "Why did you open your eyes? Go back to sleep!"
Gu Bing: ...
He closed his eyes again.
After waiting a few minutes without any further movement, Song Chuyi let out a big sigh of relief and lowered his hand.
"You need to sleep well," he whispered softly.
Gu Bing, who was already awake, was somewhat surprised. Had he been asleep just now?
It seemed so; he had a blank stretch of memory. Was this what deep sleep felt like?
Gu Bing kept his eyes closed quietly. Beside him, Song Chuyi was doing something, making admiring sounds under his breath.
Though the sounds were very soft, they echoed loudly in his ears.
Most importantly, the warmth on the right side had dissipated.
Song Chuyi had moved away from him.
Gu Bing slowly opened his eyes and looked to the right.
He saw Song Chuyi with both hands resting on the edge of the car window. The short sleeves had risen slightly due to the raised arms, revealing a slender, pale waist.
The loose jeans now clung tightly to his hips, accentuating their roundness.
From his angle, he could see the slightly pink earlobes, which stood out even in the dim light.
Song Chuyi hadn't noticed that he was awake and continued looking out the window.
The car was speeding on the highway, and even if there were any beautiful sights outside, they would flash by too quickly to be seen clearly. It was unclear what Song Chuyi was admiring.
Gu Bing remained silent, quietly enjoying the view.
Song Chuyi, who had been listening to Xiaotong talk about the pinnacle of unification one moment, suddenly saw Gu Bing's open eyes reflected in the car window the next.
He turned his head sharply.
Gu Bing was caught off guard by the sudden eye contact.
"Why aren't you sleeping?" Song Chuyi leaned on the sofa with one hand, making his slender, pale waist more noticeable.
"Not sleepy," Gu Bing replied calmly. "Where did you go today?"
Song Chuyi rubbed his nose, "Today... you didn't call me."
A hint of darkness flashed in Gu Bing's eyes.
Even if Song Chuyi didn't say it, he guessed where he had gone.
He must have sneaked off somewhere to sleep.
During the day, he took advantage of Gu Bing's work to sleep, and at night, he dragged him out to watch the sunrise. He wondered who taught him these tricks.
Gu Bing's lips curved slightly, "Never mind, forget it."
Song Chuyi nodded vigorously, "We should be arriving soon."
"It's colder by the sea, I brought you a jacket."
He picked up the bag beside his feet and patted it, "I asked Grandpa Wang to prepare a jacket for you."
"Housekeeper?" Gu Bing's eyes flickered, "When did you get so familiar with him?"
If he remembered correctly, Song Chuyi had only been at his house for a day.
In his impression, the old butler and Song Chuyi had no interaction, yet he was already calling him "Grandpa Wang"?
"Yesterday!" Song Chuyi said confidently, "Grandpa Wang is so nice; he even supervised you eating breakfast."
"He also sent me your meal plan and your preferences."
As he spoke, he pulled out his phone and scrolled through it, "Brother Gu, you're really picky about food."
Gu Bing's lips twitched, "He sent you my meal plan?"
"Yes!" Song Chuyi looked at him strangely, "I bought your lunch and dinner yesterday."
He suddenly leaned closer, resting his small hand on Gu Bing's thigh, applying a slight pressure.
"Brother Gu, you..."
