Chapter 483: Subtle Hostility, Lack of Great Love
by 棠棠Chapter 483: Faint Hostility, No Room for Grand Love
Song Chuyi patted Gu Yongnian's hand.
Then he looked thoughtfully at Shi San, who had entered hibernation mode.
"If he's in sleep mode, what about his companions..."
He looked up, and the massive ship looked oddly desolate.
Song Chuyi blinked and suddenly asked, "Can the ship think for itself?"
Gu Yongnian also looked up, pondered for two seconds, and nodded.
"Yes."
"The Mechanical Clan don’t all look human."
"They come in all shapes and forms. Most take human form now, but many don’t."
Song Chuyi nodded thoughtfully.
In a universe this big, anything’s possible.
He raised his hand and waved at the ship, smiling as he spoke.
"Want to come down and play?"
The ship shuddered slightly, as if responding to him.
Meanwhile, aboard the ship, the Mechanical Clan rebels shared uneasy looks, at a loss.
They wanted to meet him, but not in their current state.
As Gu Yongnian had said, the Mechanical Clan needed hibernation.
Though their need for sleep was nowhere near as much as humans', hibernation was far more crucial to them.
The overworked systems, the complex data—all should have been reset and repaired during shutdown.
But they hadn’t entered hibernation in a long time.
No member of the Mechanical Clan could escape the curse of Wakefulness. That special substance, which had seeped into every corner of the universe, filling the very space they lived in, had robbed them of the chance to hibernate.
Having gone so long without rest, each of them was marked with wounds, to varying degrees.
These were the scars of self-destruction, proof of their violent wakefulness.
As Mechanical Clan rebels, their temperaments were even more extreme and brutal.
Though Shi San appeared put-together, beneath his neat clothes lay split skin and sparking wires.
Even now, those aboard the ship, no matter how bundled up, still bore visible traces of their wretched state.
The livid blue scars on their faces, the clear marks on their hands—just one glance was enough to send a chill down your spine.
In the control center, someone asked uncertainly,
"Will he be afraid of us like this?"
Would he be afraid?
The assembled Mechanical Clan were all pondering this question.
They accessed all their databases, attempting to simulate human thought processes.
After a long pause, a member of the Mechanical Clan spoke up.
"The probability of him fearing us is 99.99%."
Everything in creation loves beauty, and humans even more so.
How could creatures as terrifying and broken as us not scare him?
Perhaps the answer was too cruel for them, as one of the Mechanical Clan started crying right then and there.
The sobbing was so loud, it even affected the ship.
The sentient mechanical ship naturally heard its companions' conversation.
The ship shuddered, so moved it began weeping too.
Heartbroken sobs emanated from the massive ship, causing Song Chuyi below to scratch his head, baffled.
"Is it crying?"
He hadn’t done anything, had he?
Gu Yongnian stood beside him, his gaze sharpening slightly.
To everyone except Song Chuyi, his eyes carried a faint hostility—it seemed to have become some sort of instinct.
Across countless small worlds, his heart had shrunk, able to hold only A'Chu.
It was as if he had lost the ability to love beyond her.
