Gu Bing fell asleep.
Not long after the campfire party ended, he drifted off as soon as he got in the car.
Asleep, Gu Bing seemed less cold and sullen, more peaceful.
His handsome face lost some of its sharpness, making him look more like a gentle gentleman, without a trace of a villain.
Song Chuyi didn't dare to disturb Gu Bing, so he took out his phone and started reading a book.
Looking closely, one could vaguely make out the title—“100 Ways to Please Your Benefactor.”
Below it was a line: “Technique 3: Increase physical contact with your benefactor; it helps improve their mood.”
Song Chuyi looked at their still clasped hands and nodded thoughtfully.
Seems this technique works. Note it down!
Gu Bing slept until seven in the morning, and when he woke up, he seemed less icy.
Song Chuyi calculated that he had slept for about three hours today. Although it was still not enough, it was much better than before.
If he kept this up, he would surely get Gu Bing to sleep seven hours every day!
Gu Bing rarely had such a good night’s sleep, which made him more tolerant of his incompetent subordinates during work.
He even refrained from immediately dismissing someone who presented a plan with basic errors, instead pointing out the mistakes and asking them to correct them. His demeanor was surprisingly mild, leaving the subordinate in disbelief.
The subordinate pinched his arm until it turned purple to confirm that their boss had indeed not fired him but only asked him to fix the errors.
This... is it going to rain red?
He quickly informed others that if they had any proposals, now was the time to present them—they wouldn’t get scolded!
Initially, some didn’t believe him, but after a few others confirmed it, many believed and hurriedly presented their plans.
Thus, Wang Assistant noticed an unusually high number of people entering and exiting the CEO’s office today. It seemed everyone was motivated.
Everyone’s work enthusiasm must have been ignited!
Inside the CEO’s office, despite his good mood, Gu Bing’s temper began to fray after seeing so many subpar proposals.
After sending another proposal back for revision, he rubbed his nose and looked around, noticing Song Chuyi was absent.
He frowned. "Where is Song Chuyi?"
Wang Assistant hastily replied, "Xiao Song, ah, no, Mr. Song disappeared after delivering breakfast."
"Disappeared?" Gu Bing narrowed his eyes. "Contact him."
"Yes," Wang Assistant said, preparing to leave to call Song Chuyi.
"Do it here." Gu Bing commanded, "Speakerphone."
Wang Assistant broke into a sweat, hoping Xiao Song wouldn’t upset the boss.
He silently prayed and dialed Song Chuyi’s number.
After a few rings, Song Chuyi answered.
"Wang Brother, what’s up?"
Wang Assistant glanced at his boss and cleared his throat. "Ahem, Mr. Song, where are you now?"
"Outside, I’ll be right back!" Song Chuyi laughed. "Is Brother Gu missing me? I’ll bring lunch back soon~"
Wang Assistant’s heart skipped a beat. Is... is he flirting with the boss?
Oh my god!
He dared not look at Gu Bing’s expression and quickly responded, "Okay."
He hung up the call and, keeping his head down, reported, "Mr. Song is preparing your lunch."
"Understood," Gu Bing said calmly. "Tell him to come straight to my office when he returns."
"Yes!"
Half an hour later, there was a knock on the CEO’s office door.
Gu Bing instinctively frowned, then heard Song Chuyi’s voice outside.
"Brother Gu, I’m back~"
His frown softened. "Come in."
Song Chuyi entered, carrying today’s lunch box.
He placed the lunch box on the side table and walked briskly to Gu Bing, smiling brightly.
"Was Brother Gu missing me?"
He asked straightforwardly, his tone as casual as asking if it was time for lunch.
"What if I say yes?" Gu Bing countered.
Song Chuyi chuckled, his ears slightly reddening.
"That means I miss you too, Brother Gu!"
Pleasing the Investor, Move 4: Always express your longing and dependence.
Gu Bing was satisfied.
"Rest in my lounge after lunch; don’t sleep anywhere else."
Song Chuyi wanted to explain that he didn’t need to sleep, but then thought it might seem odd among humans, so he dropped the idea.
He nodded obediently and softly replied, "Okay."
After all, studying in the lounge is still studying!
"Brother Gu, let's eat first. After eating, I have a surprise for you!"
Hearing this, Gu Bing raised an eyebrow slightly and indeed followed Song Chuyi’s suggestion to eat first.
After lunch, Gu Bing sat on the sofa, playing with the wolf-shaped badge Song Chuyi had given him, his eyes half-lowered, expression cold.
Song Chuyi plopped down beside him, hands behind his back, seemingly holding something.
"Brother Gu~"
He called out in a flattering tone.
Gu Bing’s lips twitched slightly upward, "Go on."
"Close your eyes first," Song Chuyi teased, "I want to give you a surprise."
Gu Bing closed his eyes.
"Ding ding! Look!" Song Chuyi held up a small green book, with the words "Motor Vehicle Driver's License" faintly visible on it.
Gu Bing opened his eyes, looking at it, almost writing a question mark on his face.
"A driver's license?"
Song Chuyi puffed out his chest, "This is a driver's license I got after three days of intense training!"
"To speed up the process, I spent twenty thousand hiring a private instructor just to squeeze in enough practice time."
Gu Bing: ...
"Is this the surprise?" Gu Bing couldn't help but ask again.
Song Chuyi nodded firmly.
Gu Bing fell silent, unsure whether to be pleased that Song Chuyi took his casual remark seriously or disappointed that he seemed to expect something else.
"Forget it." He rubbed his temples, "I shouldn’t have expected anything from you."
"Huh?" Song Chuyi was puzzled, "What did you expect from me, Brother Gu?"
Gu Bing’s lips twitched again, his gaze falling on Song Chuyi’s slightly pink lips.
"Nothing."
He regained his composure.
"Okay." Seeing that Gu Bing didn’t seem very happy, Song Chuyi muttered softly, "I was thinking that now that I have a driver's license, I can drive you around for fun."
"I’ll drive, and you can sit in the passenger seat. That way, no one will disturb us."
Gu Bing caught his words, his eyes darkening.
"Is that what you really think?"
"What?" Song Chuyi didn’t quite catch on.
Gu Bing pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth, his Adam’s apple bobbing, "Just the two of us going out without anyone disturbing us."
He emphasized the words "without anyone disturbing us."
