Chapter 503 Extra: Falling for the Nemesis (6)

Song Chuyi shrugged and straightened up.

    "Not really."

    "I'm a CEO, after all."

"Who'd dare invade my personal space like this?"

As soon as the words left his mouth, the atmosphere suddenly felt warmer.

Gu Yongnian's expression remained unreadable, though the sudden relaxation of his brows seemed to hint at something.

Song Chuyi leisurely sipped his milk tea. Seeing that it was almost time to leave work, he quietly stepped out to take a look.

As expected of a major company—even at 5:30 p.m., few had left yet.

Gu Yongnian noticed him going out and returning, his movements suspicious. Tapping his fingers lightly on the desk, he sent a message to Wang Assistant.

Wang Assistant soon approached Song Chuyi and asked respectfully, "Assistant Song, did you find what you needed?"

Song Chuyi cleared his throat and waved his hand.

    "Nothing, nothing."

After speaking, he glanced toward Gu Yongnian again and lowered his voice.

"How late do you usually work?"

Wang Assistant's expression remained unchanged. "Assistant Song, Chusheng Group doesn't require overtime."

"Here, we leave at 6 p.m. and start at 10 a.m."

"Boss Gu makes sure everyone can sleep in."

Compared to a standard nine-to-five, everyone preferred the ten-to-six schedule.

    Song Chuyi: "..."

    That explained the empty offices.

"I didn't expect Boss Gu to be so considerate." He was already considering whether to change Song Group's hours to start at 10 a.m. as well.

After all, starting at 9 a.m. meant having to wake up around 7 a.m. Still...that's pretty early.

As Song Chuyi pondered, Wang Assistant spoke again, "Assistant Song, Boss has instructed me to help you choose a suit. You'll be accompanying him to tonight's charity auction."

He gestured politely. "Please follow me."

"Sure, sure." Song Chuyi nodded eagerly and followed Wang Assistant to the adjacent walk-in closet.

Most of the suits in the walk-in closet belonged to Gu Yongnian—almost all in uniformly dark colors, nearly identical.

With just a glance, Song Chuyi could tell these suits were a size too big for him. Gu Yongnian was several inches taller and more built, so it made sense his suits would be larger.

But surely Gu Yongnian wouldn’t make him wear an oversized suit to the auction, right?

As he was thinking this, Wang Assistant led him to the innermost wall of the room.

The suit selection here has more color options than outside. Apart from white, which contrasts with black, there are even playful colors like blush pink and bold red.

They'd been tucked away in the back, so Song Chuyi didn’t notice them when he first came in.

Moreover, the suits here are slightly smaller than the ones outside, almost as if... as if they were tailor-made for him.

This feeling became even more pronounced after Song Chuyi tried one on.

While trying on the suit, he casually asked, "Wang Assistant, were these suits custom-made for Boss Gu when he was younger?"

Wang Assistant gave a slight bow. "Song Assistant, that's Boss Gu's personal business. I wouldn’t know."

"Oh?" Song Chuyi froze mid-motion. "Is changing suits in the company also Boss Gu's personal business?"

He suddenly took a step forward. "Is it a private matter, or did Boss Gu order you not to talk?"

Wang Assistant kept a straight face, his tone firm.

    "That’s Boss Gu's personal business."

Song Chuyi let out a low laugh. "So, these suits were secretly bought by Boss Gu?"

Wang Assistant clammed up—any more would give it away.

After all, these suits were all custom-ordered by Boss Gu, a new set every month, starting two years ago.

At first, Wang Assistant had wondered why his boss was ordering suits a size smaller. Now, seeing how perfectly they fit Song Chuyi, he understood. Now it all made sense.

They were completely tailored to Song Chuyi’s measurements. He wondered how his boss got hold of Song Chuyi’s body data.

No, no, he shouldn’t think about it—if he kept going, his boss would come off as a total creep. Wang Assistant shook off the ridiculous idea.

Seeing Wang Assistant avoid eye contact, Song Chuyi connected the dots.

He glanced around, counting at least twenty suits, all clearly custom-made by professionals.

This definitely wasn’t something that could be done in just a day or two.

Gu Yongnian was a walking contradiction.

Song Chuyi couldn’t help but laugh. "This one will do."

Wang Assistant avoided eye contact, nodding repeatedly.

    "Understood."

Song Chuyi wasn’t in a hurry to put on the suit right away. Instead, he told Wang Assistant to package it, planning to change in the car later.

After finishing everything, he sauntered back to the office.

Gu Yongnian was still buried in paperwork and didn’t glance up at the approaching footsteps.

Only after completing his work did he raise his eyes to Song Chuyi.

Not spotting what he was looking for, he frowned.

    "Not your style?"

Song Chuyi propped his chin on his hand, his striking eyes fluttering.

"How did Boss Gu know my body measurements?"

A flicker of panic crossed Gu Yongnian's eyes, only to be quickly masked by a cold expression.

"You’re joking, President Song. They're just clothes I had custom-made when I was younger but never wore."

    "If you don’t like them..."

He paused, as if searching for the right words in his mind.

Just then, Song Chuyi finished his sentence.

"If I don’t like them, should I throw them away?"

Gu Yongnian pressed his lips together, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed the unspoken words.

    "Suit yourself."

    His voice was icy.

Song Chuyi chuckled. "I picked one and already asked Assistant Wang to pack it for me."

    "I’ll change later."

This time, Gu Yongnian responded quickly.

    "Mm."

He closed the file in front of him, checked the time, and stood up.

    "Time to go."

Song Chuyi responded and followed him.

The charity auction was set to start at 7 p.m., and it was already 6 o’clock. With it being rush hour, they needed to leave as soon as possible.

When they got in the car, Song Chuyi realized Assistant Wang was behind the wheel today.

In the passenger seat lay the packaged suit he had chosen. He automatically opened the passenger door as he got in.

Gu Yongnian hesitated beside him, his right hand hovering, just two centimeters from his arm.

Just then, Song Chuyi bent down to reach for the packaged suit.

He moved quickly and didn’t notice Gu Yongnian’s raised and then lowered hand.

With the suit in hand, Song Chuyi turned to Gu Yongnian with a smile.

"You don’t mind if I change in the car, Boss Gu?"

Gu Yongnian gave him a look, didn’t respond, and got into the car.

Song Chuyi slid into the back seat after him. After the door closed, he opened the suit package and placed it on his lap.

Gu Yongnian immediately pulled out his phone, apparently checking emails.

Song Chuyi didn’t mind. Using his left hand, he fiddled with the hem of his T-shirt.

Since he was going to wear a suit, a T-shirt wouldn’t work.

He took hold of his shirt’s hem and lifted it slightly, exposing a sliver of pale skin at his waist.

Gu Yongnian froze. He set his phone down and looked at Song Chuyi, saying in a low voice, "Slow down. I’m feeling carsick."

    A transparent excuse.
