Chapter 125: The Night of the Wedding, the Crazy Reborn Antagonist is Back (9)

Half an hour later, Song Chuyi stifled a laugh as he plucked the leaves from Lin Xu's head.

"Lin Xu, looks like your electric wheelchair could use some upgrades."

    "Or..."

He bent down, lowering his voice.

"Maybe we should fix up the path."

Lin Xu pinched a green leaf between his fingers, his voice cold.

"You sure do talk a lot."

He glanced back, noticing faint tracks left by the wheelchair on the narrow path.

Building a proper path would make things a lot easier.

Lin Xu pushed the idea aside for now and turned to Song Chuyi.

"Shall we head down the mountain?"

"Let's check out the mall," Song Chuyi said, pointing to the nearby structure.

The large tent provided shelter from the elements, with several stalls visible inside.

There were stalls selling clothes, furniture, and even snacks.

But due to its remote location, there were no customers besides the staff.

Song Chuyi looked at the tent and remarked to Xiaotong, "Grandpa Lin sure works fast."

Though it wasn't a full-fledged mall, the tent setup made Lin Xu feel more at ease.

Grandpa Lin must have known what kind of person his grandson is.

Lin Xu followed Song Chuyi's gaze and frowned at the scene.

Was there ever a mall here before? He couldn't recall from his past life, so he quickly shrugged off the thought.

    "Let's go check it out."

He steered his wheelchair toward the outdoor market.

    Song Chuyi followed close behind.

The staff greeted them warmly as they arrived.

Plus, the prices here were ridiculously low.

A 1.2-meter table cost only 29.9, yet the quality was just as good as his 29,000 yuan table.

    "When did this place open?"

Lin Xu suddenly asked in a hushed tone.

"Should be within the next few days," Song Chuyi whispered, leaning close to Lin Xu's ear.

    "Lin Xu, is everything okay?"

Lin Xu set down the flower pot and gave a cold laugh.

"These items can't possibly be this cheap, and the staff are acting way too friendly, like they were told to."

"Besides my grandfather, I can't think of anyone else who would go to such lengths."

Lin Xu pursed his lips and wheeled himself away.

"Aren't you going to buy anything?" Song Chuyi asked, catching up to him.

"No, thanks. I need to head back," Lin Xu said quietly.

His feelings were mixed. Since his accident, he and his grandfather had grown distant.

He hadn’t expected his grandfather to open a mall at the foot of the mountain. Lin Xu wasn’t sure how to react.

As he stayed quiet, Song Chuyi suddenly gave his shoulder a gentle pat.

"Are you thinking this mall was opened for you by your grandfather?"

Lin Xu looked up at him, as if asking, "Isn't that the case?"

"Nope," Song Chuyi whispered into Lin Xu's ear with a chuckle, "It was opened for me."

"Grandfather was worried about me walking too much, so he opened this mall at the foot of the mountain."

Song Chuyi moved in front of the wheelchair, one hand resting on the armrest, the other on Lin Xu's knee.

"So if you’re not buying anything, I’ll go ahead and shop."

He chuckled, his eyes crinkling into a warm smile, looking incredibly handsome.

    Lin Xu was speechless.

He wasn’t sure if it was the warmth of Song Chuyi’s breath by his ear or the realization that his grandfather now seemed to care for Song Chuyi as well.

His thoughts were still jumbled when Song Chuyi dashed into the open-air mall, already browsing with excitement.

Lin Xu watched Song Chuyi’s cheerful figure disappear into the mall, lost in thought for a while before pulling out his phone and dialing the last contact on his list.

The call was answered almost immediately, and an elderly voice came through the line.

"Xiao Xu," the voice greeted warmly.

    "Grandfather," Lin Xu replied softly.

Lin’s grandfather hadn’t expected his grandson to call him after two years of silence.

The old man, nearing the end of his life, felt tears welling up in his eyes.

"Good, good, good," he repeated, his voice trembling with emotion.

Lin Xu paused for a couple of seconds, then said, "Take care of yourself."

    Then he ended the call.

But even this short call was enough to touch Grandfather Lin deeply.

He knew his grandson’s personality well, and this call must have taken every ounce of courage he had.

This seemingly simple call could be the first step his grandson was taking to step out of his shell.

He couldn’t bear to give up on his grandson—after all, he was the last hope for the Lin family.

Not long after, Song Chuyi received a message from Grandfather Lin.

"Xiao Song, I heard you and Xiao Xu went shopping together?"

"Great, great, that’s wonderful! I’ve already arranged a meeting to discuss development plans."

"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you both have everything you need."

Song Chuyi thanked him and said a few more kind words, which made Grandfather Lin beam with happiness.

Then he walked over to Lin Xu.

"Lin Xu, I’m done shopping. Let me push you back."

Lin Xu glanced at his empty hands. "What did you buy?"

Song Chuyi pulled a nail clipper from his pocket. "This."

    Lin Xu: …

    Yeah, yeah, great.

He really shouldn’t have expected much from this guy.

This time, Lin Xu didn’t object when Song Chuyi offered to push him.

Climbing back up the mountain was much harder than going down. The mountain path was already tough to navigate, and pushing a wheelchair made it even more challenging.

The descent had taken only half an hour, but the climb back up took them three hours.

By the time they got back to the villa, dusk was settling in.

After they finished their respective tasks, Lin Xu headed back to his bedroom to get ready for bed.

A freshly stoked charcoal fire sat nearby, warming the room and making it feel cozy.

As usual, Lin Xu lay in bed, feeling the warmth of the room, and slowly drifted off to sleep.

    Soon, he fell asleep.

It wasn’t until he heard a sharp “Ouch!” that he bolted awake.

Following the sound, he saw Song Chuyi adding fresh charcoal to the fire. It looked like he had burned himself, as he was holding his hand and wincing.

Even his usually smiling eyes now glistened with unshed tears.

Lin Xu was taken aback, suddenly realizing that the reason he hadn’t felt cold when waking up these past few days was because Song Chuyi had been sneaking in to add charcoal to the fire every night.

    Why would he do this?

Why was he suddenly being so nice to him?

Song Chuyi seemed to notice something and glanced over at him.

Lin Xu quickly shut his eyes, pretending to remain asleep.

Soft footsteps approached, and before long, Lin Xu felt Song Chuyi standing beside the bed.

He even leaned down, his face inches from Lin Xu’s ear.

He was so close that Lin Xu could feel the warmth of his breath against his ear.

It was Song Chuyi’s lips, gently brushing against his ear.

    Then, a soft voice whispered.

    "Sweetheart..."
