Cheers rose up, drowning out the murmurs of that demon clan member.
But there were continuous voices from the demon clan.
"Oh, Respected Song is so handsome. How can he be so skilled? I want to tie him up and bring him home."
"But Respected Song loves freedom. I can’t bear to tie him up and bring him home."
"Same here, sob. Just being able to see him is enough for me."
"I really want to be Respected Song's dog."
"A husky like you doesn’t deserve him!"
"And you think a golden retriever like you does? Pfft!"
"I like him so much. I want to get closer to Respected Song."
"His sword techniques are so serene. I don’t sense any killing intent, unlike those other sword cultivators."
"I want to be pierced by his sword."
"You’re disgusting!"
"Don’t you want to be stabbed?"
"I do."
………………
Si Yuanye, hidden among the demon clan, could no longer stand listening.
This was outrageous!
The demon clan deeply despised humans, yet now they wanted to be stabbed?
In human terms, what would this be called?
Being a masochist.
Si Yuanye was starting to doubt the significance of being a Demon Lord.
Leading such a group of demons, it was embarrassing to even consider it.
But…
Si Yuanye looked up at the youth gracefully wielding a sword in mid-air.
Free and unrestrained, like a deity.
Unreachable, untouchable, yet gazing at him with such compassionate deceit.
He could approach, touch, and even hold him in his arms.
"Why is the heat-fearing cat down there looking at me?"
Suddenly, Song Chuyi’s voice reached his ears.
Even though it was so noisy around him, Si Yuanye still caught Song Chuyi's voice.
No, it should be his inner voice.
"Heat-fearing kitty, come up and play!"
He was inviting him.
An unseen wind blew, fanning the flames higher.
A dark figure appeared in mid-air.
"It's the Demon Lord!"
Someone shouted, and all the demons fell to their knees.
"Welcome the Demon Lord!"
"Welcome the Demon Lord!"
The shouts rose, and in the air, Si Yuanye stood facing Song Chuyi.
Song Chuyi halted his sword dance.
Beneath them, scorching flames seemed ready to engulf them both.
Si Yuanye's fingers twitched, and a barrier spread beneath Song Chuyi's feet, protecting him from the flames.
"Si Yuanye, you're here," Song Chuyi said with a smile. "Did you enjoy my sword dance?"
Si Yuanye responded softly with a "Mm-hm."
After a pause, he added, "It's too loud."
"But everyone is enjoying themselves," Song Chuyi said as he looked down at the other demons and asked loudly, "Are you all enjoying yourselves?"
"We're happy!" One demon responded first.
Then, responses rose one after another.
"We're happy!"
They were overjoyed!
Song Chuyi turned to Si Yuanye, "See, everyone is happy."
"What about you?" Si Yuanye suddenly asked.
"Of course, I'm happy too!" Song Chuyi said as he sheathed his sword and stepped toward Si Yuanye.
Si Yuanye remained still, watching him approach, his heart inexplicably racing.
A vague sense of anticipation welled up within him.
Before long, Song Chuyi was close.
He was just half a step away.
"Master," Song Chuyi lowered his voice, "Everyone is so happy. You wouldn't want to sacrifice them to attack the humans, would you?"
Si Yuanye’s heart, which had risen, sank back down.
"Was that all you wanted to say?"
Song Chuyi nodded.
"Heh." Si Yuanye sneered, flicked his sleeve, and vanished suddenly.
Song Chuyi scratched his head, puzzled.
"Why did he get so upset?"
"Just like a cat’s temper."
Song Chuyi lifted his spell and rejoined the others to play.
After playing for a while, he left to water the moonlit grass.
Now, the moonlit grass had grown to the size of a palm, and it would mature in another two months. Then, they could refine the moonlit elixirs.
Although Si Yuanye’s sudden descent into darkness was unexpected, he still seemed intent on destroying the world.
So, Song Chuyi decided to focus on growing the moonlit grass first.
The flames outside the palace gradually died down, and the demons, now weary, began to disperse.
Each returned to their nests, intending to have a good sleep.
But when they lay down and closed their eyes, they found, to their surprise, that they couldn’t fall asleep.
Could it be they were too excited?
Many demons thought so. Since they couldn’t sleep, they simply got up and started working.
They were quite busy now.
They needed to earn spirit stones to buy elixirs from Venerable Song!
However, demons weren’t accustomed to earning spirit stones. After all, they used to just take what they wanted.
But Venerable Song had said that they wouldn’t accept stolen spirit stones, so they had to earn them themselves.
Some who couldn’t earn enough in the demon city secretly went to the human world to make money.
There were many herbs in the Demon Realm that human cultivators needed. The demons could sell these herbs to humans.
At this time, the demons hadn’t realized that it was because of Song Chuyi’s elixirs that they couldn’t sleep.
Demons didn’t need sleep as much as humans did. Most demons rarely needed to sleep, and with their deep respect for Song Chuyi, it would take a while before they figured it out.
Unaware of this, Song Chuyi finally found Si Yuanye in the garden.
He walked over and gently poked his shoulder.
"Why were you angry?"
Si Yuanye didn’t respond to him.
Song Chuyi sat down on the large rock next to him. The rock was a bit high, and his feet couldn’t touch the ground when he sat on it.
He braced his hands on the large stone and swung his legs.
"Did I say something wrong?"
"A man's heart is as hard to fathom as a needle at the bottom of the sea, so hard to guess ah!"
Song Chuyi sighed inwardly, "Why can't you just say it? Why keep it bottled up inside!"
"Watch out, you might end up with a knot in your stomach!"
Si Yuanye didn't know what a nodule was, but he could tell Song Chuyi was talking about him.
After a brief silence, he spoke.
"What brings you to me?"
Song Chuyi exclaimed softly, "Wow, the bad guy is pretty sharp!"
"Since you figured out I came here on purpose."
Si Yuanye felt like laughing a little.
At first, he hadn't realized it; he had gone over on a whim.
His birth mother's village had been burned, and out of nostalgia, he decided to check it out.
He hadn't expected to find just a teenager there.
He saved him without planning to take him as a disciple; it was just a spur-of-the-moment decision.
All of this was just him acting on a whim. To say he had planned it would be too much of a coincidence.
But later, the teenager's behavior made him realize that his reason for coming to him wasn't simple.
Si Yuanye’s eyes drooped slightly, and when he wasn’t smiling, his eyes radiated a chilling aura, as if they held something that shouldn’t be desired.
"What’s your real reason for being here?"
He asked again.
Song Chuyi feigned seriousness as he patted his shoulder.
"Of course, to stop you from destroying the world."
"I can’t exactly say I came to get closer to you, can I?"
His feet jiggled, "We’ve only touched fingertips so far, when will we finally kiss?"
With a loud whoosh, Si Yuanye vanished.
Song Chuyi: Huh???
