"BOSS." Wang Assistant hurried over, interrupting Gu Bing, "There are some urgent documents."
Gu Bing frowned, feeling a surge of irritation, "I see."
"A'Chu, I need to handle some company matters first."
Song Chuyi nodded with a smile, "Sure."
He smiled brightly, but in that moment, Gu Bing felt as if he was very far away.
Panicked, he grabbed Song Chuyi's hand, "A'Chu, come with me."
Song Chuyi, who had just gotten a bit of free time: ...
"Alright." He reluctantly agreed.
They barely played two rounds of golf before Gu Bing went back to the office to work overtime.
The overtime stretched into the late night, and the sky outside had turned completely dark, with only a few scattered stars visible.
Song Chuyi lay on the desk, wearing only a thin shirt.
Two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing a glimpse of his delicate collarbone.
When Gu Bing finished his work and saw this scene, he walked over quietly.
Song Chuyi had his eyes closed, his cheeks slightly flushed, seemingly asleep.
Gu Bing's heart softened, and he took off his jacket to gently drape it over him.
He still had some work left to finish.
As he turned to continue working, a hand grabbed his arm.
Gu Bing looked back at Song Chuyi, "A'Chu?"
Song Chuyi opened his eyes, his gaze misty like a cat's, "Brother Gu."
His voice carried a soft nasal tone.
"Just ten more minutes, and I'll be done with my work."
Song Chuyi tilted his head, his eyes filled with anticipation, "If I wait ten more minutes, can you give me all your time for the next week?"
Gu Bing couldn't resist those eyes and agreed, "Okay."
With a satisfied answer, Song Chuyi let go of his hand.
Ten minutes later, Gu Bing finally finished his work.
He looked at Song Chuyi, a smile playing on his lips, "A'Chu, shall we go home now?"
Song Chuyi shook his head and pulled out two plane tickets from his pocket, "No going home. We're going out to play."
He grinned, "For the next week, you belong to me!"
Without waiting for Gu Bing to react, Song Chuyi dragged him straight to the airport.
They boarded the plane within ten minutes of arriving at the airport, leaving no time for Gu Bing to make any arrangements.
Gu Bing tried several times to check his phone for any company messages, but each time, Song Chuyi stopped him.
"I won't allow you to look at your phone, or else..."
Gu Bing's heart skipped a beat.
"Or else I won't help you sleep!"
Song Chuyi's "threat" made the tourists behind them snicker; it seemed like a childish threat.
But they didn't know that this threat was serious for Gu Bing.
He put his phone away.
The plane soon arrived in Yin City, where Song Chuyi had already rented an SUV. As soon as he got the car, he started driving.
The car was loaded with food and water, filling the trunk and back seat, leaving only the passenger seat empty.
Song Chuyi drove towards the desert, and by the time they reached the desert area, their phones had lost signal.
Even if Gu Bing wanted to check his company messages, he couldn't.
There was no signal here, only the vast sky full of stars and the soft sand around them.
Song Chuyi parked the car and opened the door, "Brother Gu, come out and see the stars."
Gu Bing stepped out of the car. The place was desolate, with only a few distant lights flickering.
The desert nights were cold, and the chilly wind made the sense of isolation even stronger.
Gu Bing turned to Song Chuyi, "Why did A'Chu bring me here?"
"To see the stars," Song Chuyi pointed at the stars above, "You can't see them in the city."
"Indeed." Gu Bing chuckled softly, "It's beautiful here."
Song Chuyi hummed lightly, pulling Gu Bing to set up a tent. They would spend the night here!
For several days, Song Chuyi dragged Gu Bing around the desert, walking at least ten kilometers each day. If Gu Bing couldn’t sleep at night, he would drive them around.
Indeed, Gu Bing hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days. It seemed as if he had returned to his previous state of insomnia.
Something heavy pressed against his chest, preventing him from falling asleep.
But Song Chuyi acted as if he couldn't see this and continued to drag him around to play.
This worried Xiaotong greatly, who wailed in Song Chuyi’s mind.
"Wah wah wah, it's over, over! The mission is going to fail wah wah wah. The antagonist hasn’t slept well for five days!"
"Five days! Do you know how I’ve spent these five days? Wah wah wah, Host, you need to do something!"
Today was already their sixth day here, and also the sixth day that Gu Bing hadn’t handled any company affairs.
Gu Bing’s brows were tightly furrowed, with a buildup of irritability that couldn’t be relieved.
Seeing that it was about time, Song Chuyi took out the prepared red wine and barbecue on the sixth night. He started drinking the wine while eating the barbecue.
After taking a couple of sips, he suddenly spoke, "Brother Gu, actually, I lied to you."
Gu Bing’s hand holding the wine glass paused, staring intently at Song Chuyi.
"What?"
"On that day, when President Zhao came to see me, he didn’t just talk about Lin Xin; he also mentioned you."
Song Chuyi took another sip of the wine. "He said you are Lin Xin’s obsession."
"I have nothing to do with Lin Xin," Gu Bing emphasized.
"I know." Song Chuyi moved closer to him. "But at that moment, I realized that the company is your obsession."
Gu Bing was taken aback. "What?"
"The Gu Group is your obsession." Song Chuyi stressed, "You have devoted almost all of your time to the company, taking on many responsibilities that don’t belong to you."
Gu Bing did not refute his words.
"Brother Gu, I’ve always been curious why you suffer from insomnia."
Song Chuyi propped his face up with one hand, his cheeks starting to flush.
"You exercise regularly, eat balanced and light meals, and work intensely. Any normal person would get at least eight hours of sleep."
"But you don’t."
"Your mind is always highly alert, waking up at the slightest sound, rarely able to have deep sleep."
"I asked Doctor Big Brother again, and he said the medication he prescribed for you doesn’t work, nor does the treatment from the psychologist."
"So I’m curious, what causes your insomnia."
Song Chuyi extended an index finger and pointed at his own heart.
"You are trapped in the vortex of the company."
He also understood why he became the antagonist destined to destroy the world.
If one does not perish under suppression, they will inevitably become twisted by it.
Clearly, Gu Bing chose the latter.
Given his personality, he would inevitably choose the latter.
Gu Bing remained silent for a long time without speaking.
The nearby charcoal emitted a blood-red glow, flickering into his eyes.
He slowly lifted his gaze and actually smiled.
