Song Chuyi pulled the shower curtain closed.
Ning Tong poked the shower curtain with the mouse. "Are you angry?"
The little guy peeked out shyly from behind the shower curtain. "I have new pants."
"But they're not as nice as the ones in the mall."
He wasn't going without any.
Ning Tong let out a soft chuckle.
This little electronic pet, who grew up wild, was smarter than he thought.
He not only had a sense of human shame but also knew how to defend himself when accused.
Ning Tong clicked the mouse, poking the little head that had peeked out.
"Add some new clothes to the mall."
Song Chuyi quickly glanced at him and hid behind the shower curtain again.
Ning Tong didn’t disturb the little guy anymore.
He worked on some simple tasks on the side, and after a while, the shower curtain on the screen disappeared.
The little guy lay on the screen, with a small washing machine vibrating beside him.
Ning Tong couldn’t help smiling.
This little guy even knows how to do his laundry.
He's much more flexible than Mao, the previous model.
Ning Tong set his work aside. "Now that you're full and happy, what's next?"
Song Chuyi's ears perked up, and his little legs lifted slightly.
He seemed tired and let them drop again.
His pale little feet swayed back and forth, catching the eye on the screen.
Ning Tong stopped working and watched the little guy, too full and lazy to move.
Though the little guy hadn't done anything, Ning Tong felt a strange sense of peace.
Time flew by, and before they knew it, it was dark.
It wasn't until his assistant called about the new touchscreen computer that he realized how late it was.
Ning Tong told the assistant to hold on, then poked the little guy's foot with the mouse.
"I'm getting a new computer. Will you still be able to track me down?"
Song Chuyi's ears twitched, and he sat straight.
He sat cross-legged, his tiny feet pressed together.
He grabbed his left ankle and leaned forward.
"Of course, I can find it!"
He let out a soft hum.
"I'm pretty awesome."
Ning Tong gave a soft chuckle. "Alright."
As he spoke, he clicked the mouse twice on Song Chuyi's avatar.
His fingers flew across the keyboard, locking the source code before saying, "See you later."
Song Chuyi blinked in surprise.
Suddenly, the screen went black.
Ning Tong powered down the computer.
Song Chuyi stretched lazily and got up, ready to explore elsewhere.
As soon as he took a step, the black-and-white panda, Mao, appeared.
"Father told me to keep an eye on you."
"Wait, why?" Song Chuyi asked.
Mao shook its head. "Beats me."
It waddled up to Song Chuyi on its short legs. "I can take you to Area A to play."
Song Chuyi said excitedly, "Great, great!"
He was genuinely curious about what the digital world was like.
Mao led Song Chuyi to Area A. The flood of videos made Song Chuyi dizzy, and he tapped his head, feeling overwhelmed.
"What are these?"
Mao stood in the video data center, its round face serious.
Despite its round, chubby figure, it was incredibly approachable, and its serious expression only made it cuter.
Song Chuyi reached out and patted Mao's ears.
Mao stayed serious. "These are videos humans posted online."
"I need to review and process them for compliance."
While most videos humans post are fun and interesting, some violate human laws.
Mao has to handle these videos.
With its incredible processing power, Mao had already filtered billions of videos in the time it took to speak.
"That's amazing!" Song Chuyi exclaimed.
Mao tilted his head, revealing a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"Dad says you're really something."
Song Chuyi pointed at himself, his ears turning red.
"I'm not all that great."
"I can't do any of the things you do."
He plopped down.
"You're the impressive one, Mao."
Mao asked in confusion, "Mao?"
"Who's that?"
"You!" Song Chuyi said with a smile, "Aren't you called Mao? So you're Mao!"
Mao didn't quite understand this behavior, but he nodded and replied, "Oh, okay, Yi Yi."
"Dad told me to bring you over."
Mao led Song Chuyi through the digital currents.
Song Chuyi asked curiously, "When did he talk to you?"
"How come I didn't hear it?"
"Commands," Mao explained, "Dad can send me commands at any time."
Song Chuyi nodded thoughtfully.
Suddenly, it was bright, and Ning Tong was at the computer, smiling.
"Looks like A'Chu is really sharp."
He reached out, his fingertips touching the little one's face.
A soft sensation came from his fingertips.
It was even softer than he had imagined.
Song Chuyi also felt the warmth from Ning Tong's fingertips and was slightly startled.
He could actually feel his body temperature?
This latest technology is amazing!
He thought Ning Tong only knew how to click with a mouse.
Song Chuyi's eyes lit up. He secretly opened the backend of a food delivery platform, registered an account, filled in the address and phone number, and then used the money Ning Tong had just recharged for him to order takeout.
After finishing, he chuckled and arranged a small table and chair for himself.
Sitting on the small chair, he swung his short legs, waiting for his takeout to arrive.
Ning Tong arched an eyebrow, but before he spoke, his phone rang beside him.
He picked it up.
"Hi, sir, your takeout's here."
"I didn't order anything..." Ning Tong suddenly realized something and looked at the little guy who had already prepared his knife and fork, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Just leave it at the door."
The delivery guy said okay and hung up.
Within two minutes, another takeout call came through.
After taking five takeout calls back-to-back, Ning Tong finally had to ask, "How much takeout did you get?"
Song Chuyi puffed out his chest, defiant.
"Ten!"
Ning Tong: ...
Didn't see that coming, the little guy's got quite the appetite.
Once all ten takeouts were there, Ning Tong casually went downstairs to grab them.
There was so much takeout he had to use a cart to haul it all up.
When he got back to the computer, he started unpacking the takeouts one by one.
The ten takeouts took up the whole table; even his phone had to sit on the chair next to him.
On the screen, Song Chuyi clinked his knife and fork together.
"Come on, open them up so I can get a whiff."
He couldn't eat, but maybe he could catch a scent?
Ning Tong was patient, opening each takeout package one by one.
Roast duck, fried chicken, small cakes, milk tea...
Foods he would never usually touch were now spread out on the table.
The little guy on the screen took a deep breath, his small body swaying, almost falling over.
"I can't smell it, bring it closer so I can smell."
Ning Tong picked up a piece of fried chicken.
The crispy fried chicken crumbled as he pinched it, the oil soaking his fingertips, adding a bit of luster to his pale skin.
It was hard not to let your mind wander.
