After bidding farewell to Yun Yingxia, Song Chuyi went out.
Although moving around with a fishtail was inconvenient, fortunately, the management bureau was not far from where they lived.
Upon arriving at the management bureau, Song Chuyi was stunned by the scene before him.
The once intact building had been sliced in half mid-air, with dark clouds looming overhead, threatening to collapse at any moment.
The entrance was in chaos, with people fleeing as if a beast were hot on their heels.
Song Chuyi grabbed someone and demanded, "What's happening?"
"The green dragon inside has gone wild!"
After saying this, the person broke free from Song Chuyi's grip and ran away.
Song Chuyi pushed against the crowd, making his way inside.
Black mist enveloped him, seeping into his body relentlessly.
Song Chuyi rubbed his temples, muttering to Xiaotong in his mind.
"Is this the chaos element?"
"It's pretty intense."
Even he felt its effects.
Xiaotong: "Yeah, the main system warned that this world is super dangerous!"
Song Chuyi raised an eyebrow slightly, "So, do you have enough energy to send me the rest of the plot?"
Xiaotong felt a little guilty, "All my energy's been handed over to the main system."
"The main system said my energy tastes the best."
Song Chuyi: "..."
He chuckled helplessly and, in his mind, gently petted the little white bun. He shoved through the crowd and halted in front of an office door.
The black mist was pouring out from this office.
The office door was slightly open, with faint groans coming from inside.
Song Chuyi pushed the door open and stepped inside, immediately engulfed by the black mist.
The mist pulled him along, bringing him to Qing Yuan's side.
As if alive, the black mist hurled Song Chuyi into Qing Yuan's arms.
Song Chuyi grasped Qing Yuan's arm and blinked gently.
"Qing Yuan?"
Qing Yuan's eyes were half-shut, with black mist streaming from between his brows.
He had nearly transformed into a solid mass of black mist, winding around Song Chuyi.
The black mist coiled around the beautiful fishtail.
"Hmm."
Song Chuyi let out a soft gasp, his long eyelashes fluttering.
"Qing Yuan." He called again, still receiving no response.
Qing Yuan seemed unconscious, instinctively lashing out at the world he despised.
Song Chuyi prodded his chest, the fishtail aching from the black mist's grip.
"You’re such a troublemaker."
He murmured softly before pressing a kiss to his lips.
Qing Yuan’s lashes fluttered, his eyes widening in surprise.
His mind was still stuck on the so-called bureau officials questioning his identity and the riot factors in his mental sea.
He didn’t understand what riot factors meant; he just knew he hated those people.
He hated their probing stares and the cold, strange instruments scanning him repeatedly.
He tried to leave, but someone stood in his way.
They glared at him, trying to prevent him from returning home to his baby.
They were so infuriating that he wanted to kill them.
He barely remembered what happened after that.
When he came to, it was right now.
His baby had kissed him first!
Qing Yuan’s eyes sparkled, his annoyance with others forgotten.
He took charge, kissing Song Chuyi with fervor.
The black mist faded, leaving only the chaos on the ground as evidence of the terror that had unfolded.
After the kiss, Song Chuyi flicked his fishtail lightly, tears glistening in his eyes.
"Let’s go home, okay?"
"Okay." Qing Yuan nodded instantly, scooping up the delicate little mermaid and heading out.
The bureau was already surrounded by people.
The crowd eyed Qing Yuan warily as he carried the little mermaid, too afraid to make a move.
Qing Yuan paid them no mind.
If not for the little mermaid’s desire to go home, he’d have killed them already to rid himself of the annoyance.
The crowd could only watch as Qing Yuan walked away with the little mermaid.
Someone in the crowd finally spoke up.
"Didn't he go berserk?"
After a long pause, someone finally answered:
"No, it's a miracle."
The thick black fog they had just seen usually meant the riot factors had already taken over the spiritual sea.
The only outcome was going berserk until death.
But just now, they saw Qing Yuan, who should have gone berserk to death, walking away with the little mermaid in his arms.
Qing Yuan even had a soft, tender smile on his face.
He was clearly still sane.
A glimmer of hope sparked in everyone's hearts.
If Qing Yuan could pull off this miracle, maybe... they could too?
————
After Qing Yuan brought Song Chuyi home, Song pulled him aside to learn more about the riot factors in this world.
Even though Xiaotong hadn't filled him in on the rest of the story, Song Chuyi pieced together the rest of the plot by understanding the riot factors.
With so many riot factors in his spiritual sea, it was no wonder people saw Qing Yuan as a demon.
The attacks kept coming, but Qing Yuan wasn't about to let himself be pushed around.
So it wasn't out of the question for him to want to destroy this world.
After putting the story together, Song Chuyi poked Qing Yuan in the chest.
"You can't keep acting like this, okay?"
Qing Yuan nuzzled Song Chuyi's fingertips and kept saying:
"Mhm, I'll do whatever my baby says."
"My baby's so sweet, I love it."
He sneakily took Song Chuyi's fingertip into his mouth and gave it a couple of gentle nibbles.
So tasty.
He was dying to devour his baby.
Qing Yuan grinned goofily and scooped up Song Chuyi, "Baby, I didn't kill anyone today."
He puffed out his chest, clearly fishing for praise.
Song Chuyi couldn't help laughing, "You're such a good boy."
He patted Qing Yuan's head, "You did awesome today, so I'll give you a reward."
Qing Yuan's eyes sparkled, "What kind of reward?"
Song Chuyi flicked his fishtail and smirked, "How about you get to wash my fishtail as your reward?"
Qing Yuan loved this reward so much that he immediately hugged Song Chuyi and led him into the bathroom.
There was a large bathtub in the bathroom, plenty big enough for two.
Qing Yuan filled the bathtub with water and placed Song Chuyi inside.
He then stepped in himself, placing the mermaid tail in front of him, gently caressing it with his fingertips and carefully cleaning it.
Song Chuyi's body lay limply against the edge of the bathtub, enjoying Qing Yuan’s gentle touch as he washed his tail.
As Qing Yuan continued washing, his fingers suddenly lifted a small scale.
Song Chuyi's body trembled, and he looked at Qing Yuan.
Qing Yuan, with a serious expression, said, "This spot needs a good cleaning too."
Bubbles spread.
Song Chuyi lightly bit his lip, his ears turning crimson.
He’d forgotten that mermaids and humans were built differently.
How careless of him!
Qing Yuan secretly observed Song Chuyi's expression, noticing his flushed face. He bent down and kissed the skin beneath the scale.
A dark mist swirled in his ink-green eyes.
Qing Yuan’s throat moved, his voice low and husky.
"Baby, can I have you?"
He didn’t want to wait—he wanted to have him right now.
