Chapter 395: On How to Awaken the Dormant Big Boss (6)

Back at the villa, Shen Shu brought back a bunch of people again.

Everyone had their tasks clearly assigned: some cooked, others cleaned, and still others tended to the flowers.

Everyone was busy except Shen Shu.

Shen Shu was genuinely surprised that his companions were all here because of Song Chuyi.

He became more and more suspicious of who Song Chuyi really was.

He quietly pulled someone aside and asked in a low voice, "Is Song Chuyi really the big boss?"

The person looked at him strangely, "How could he be the boss?"

"He's such a good guy! Don't badmouth him!"

    Shen Shu: ???

    This made no sense.

Shen Shu felt that this world was truly too bizarre.

Before coming here, he was ready to make sacrifices, even prepared to walk away with nothing.

But he never imagined it would turn out like this!

His comrades were all fawning over Song Chuyi.

This only deepened Shen Shu's suspicion that Song Chuyi was the big boss.

If he wasn't the big boss, why were they so eager to please someone they'd never even met?

Song Chuyi must have pulled some strings.

To find the answer, Shen Shu decided to stay in the villa for the next few days and keep a close eye on Song Chuyi!

On the first day of watching him, Song Chuyi stayed in his bedroom playing games all day, nothing out of the ordinary.

Liu Qing, however, was worried sick when he didn't come out to eat.

Shen Shu rolled his eyes repeatedly and continued his surveillance.

On the second day of watching him, Song Chuyi played games all day again.

    Shen Shu: ...

Was the key to beating the final level really just playing games?

Shen Shu couldn't figure it out, but he felt he couldn't hold on much longer.

He felt like he was carrying a ton of weight, making his steps unsteady.

Shen Shu pursed his lips, looked up at the second-floor bedroom, and resolved to go find Song Chuyi.

Not long after, the door to the second-floor bedroom was knocked on.

Song Chuyi, who was playing a game with his legs resting on He Tongan's thighs, glanced toward the door and asked, "Who's there?"

Shen Shu's voice came from outside.

"Song Chuyi, it's me, Shen Shu."

Song Chuyi pulled his legs back and sat cross-legged.

    "Come in."

He put down the game controller in his hand and looked at Shen Shu.

    "What’s going on?"

Shen Shu looked awful, with dark circles under his eyes so deep they looked almost black.

He was already thin, and after several days of almost no sleep, on top of being weighed down by the sleeping city’s power, he was at his breaking point.

He looked like he could collapse any second.

Shen Shu leaned on the wall, his fingers twitching slightly.

"Are you the one in charge?"

Song Chuyi was stunned for a moment, letting out a puzzled sound.

    "Huh?"

He looked down at the still unconscious He Tongan, pointed at him, and his face grew serious.

    "No, he's not."

    "He's the one in charge."

Shen Shu seemed somewhat skeptical of this statement.

"But they're all trying to please you."

Shen Shu pressed his lips together tightly. "Did you cast a spell on them?"

    Song Chuyi: ...

    He couldn't help laughing.

    "I didn't cast any spell."

    "Maybe he said something?"

Shen Shu looked back at He Tongan.

This guy had been out cold the whole time, not showing any signs of coming to.

"Can you wake him up?" he asked again.

Song Chuyi shook his head. "No way."

Well, there was a way—like injuring himself a bit, and He Tongan would definitely wake up.

But that wasn't what he wanted to happen.

He wanted him to wake up on his own.

Shen Shu took out the steel needle again, "Why not try giving him a poke?"

Song Chuyi cleared his throat softly and pointed to the chair beside him.

"Why don't you take a seat and rest for a bit?"

Shen Shu struggled to sit down on the chair, then took a deep breath and continued to ask, "If he doesn't wake up, are we going to fail?"

His eyelids started to droop. "If we fail, will we be wiped out?"

Song Chuyi let out a soft sound of surprise.

"Who told you that failing would mean destruction?"

Shen Shu suddenly looked up, fixing his gaze on Song Chuyi.

Song Chuyi gave a soft chuckle, "We won't be wiped out, just turned into a vassal planet for some power."

"Hmm... kind of like a colony planet."

"But considering how far they are from Aqua Blue Star, you'd likely be long gone by the time it becomes a vassal planet."

Shen Shu fixed his gaze on Song Chuyi and asked slowly, "Just who are you, really?"

Song Chuyi gave a slight blink, put his index finger to his lips, and spoke in a hushed tone.

    "That's a secret I can't reveal."

Ultimately, Shen Shu walked away without an answer from Song Chuyi.

But for some reason, he felt a lot more at peace.

He headed downstairs, observing his teammates as they bustled around, his eyelids drooping, until he eventually dozed off.

In his half-asleep state, he saw himself transform into a tiny black light.

There appeared to be numerous small black lights around, clustering together and jostling each other, as if vying for something.

Shen Shu was shoved aside and caught sight of a light screen.

Displayed on the light screen was none other than Song Chuyi's figure.

Shen Shu felt a bit disoriented, but he still managed to recognize the man standing before the light screen.

It was He Tongan, the one who had been in a deep slumber.

But now, he was wide awake, gazing at Song Chuyi on the light screen with an expression Shen Shu couldn't decipher.

Just as Shen Shu was trying to make sense of it, He Tongan turned his gaze towards him.

"What did he tell you?" He Tongan asked directly.

Shen Shu instinctively replied, "He said even if we fail, the planet won't be wiped out, just become a vassal planet."

"What else?" He Tongan continued to ask.

Shen Shu found that he seemed to have no control over his consciousness.

He Tongan had asked, so he had to answer.

"I asked him who he really was, and he said it was a secret."

When He Tongan heard this, his expression darkened.

"Who do you think you are to ask who he is?"

Shen Shu felt his body suddenly lift off, and he didn’t know where he had gone. Everything around him was pitch black, and he didn’t know where to go or what to do.

He tried to wake up, but an invisible force held him back, separating his consciousness from his body.

Shen Shu quickly thought of something.

Could this be the realm of consciousness in the City of Slumber?

Are these tiny black lights the people sleeping in the City of Slumber?

Is He Tongan the god ruling this darkness?

If He Tongan woke up, or if they managed to stay awake in the City of Slumber for a month, wouldn’t that mean they could pass the final challenge?

With this in mind, Shen Shu rushed to find He Tongan.

"He told me something else!" Shen Shu shouted.

He Tongan looked up, his voice cool and distant.

    "Speak."

Shen Shu didn’t hesitate and quickly replied, "He said he’s really fond of you."

He Tongan’s furrowed brows slowly softened.

    "Of course, A'Chu likes me."

Shen Shu pressed on. "He said he wants you to wake up on your own."

    He Tongan's eyes gently lowered.
