Wei Pozi burst into anger. "I see you're right! ... No wonder the third daughter-in-law always brings up this matter and drags Xingxing into it. Isn't she just bullying Xingxing for not having parents, trying to pin the blame on her so that Ju Geer can get off scot-free!"

The more Wei Pozi spoke, the angrier she became, slamming her hand heavily on the table. "Third daughter-in-law, how can you teach Ju Geer well like this?!"

Xingxing, in the inner room, heard Wei Pozi's outburst and the slam on the table, her little face turning pale with fright.

Without hesitation, she backed down from the bed in the inner room and ran out, dragging her shoes behind her.

Xingxing hugged Wei Pozi's hand, tears welling up in her eyes. "Grandma, does your hand hurt? Xingxing will blow on it for you!"

Wei Pozi's anger instantly subsided, her tone softening slightly. "It's okay, Grandma doesn't hurt."

Xingxing held Wei Pozi's hand, looking up with her tearful eyes. "Grandma, don't be angry anymore; it's bad for your health."

With such a caring granddaughter, how could Wei Pozi stay angry?

Wei Pozi hugged Xingxing tightly, sighing deeply. "Alright, my dear child, Grandma won't be angry anymore!"

Bai Xiaofeng watched her short-tempered mother-in-law being pacified by Xingxing, amazed at the sight.

Bai Xiaofeng looked at Xingxing, feeling increasingly envious!

Having such a sweet, gentle, and filial little girl by her side, always attentive to her needs, would make every day so much better!

The more Bai Xiaofeng thought about it, the more her heart warmed, and she made up her mind. Tonight, after the two boys next door fell asleep, she would definitely persuade her husband to try for another child!

She wanted another daughter!

In the afternoon, the men of the Yu family started returning one by one.

Yu Daniu took Huai Geer and Bai Geer into the mountains to set traps, which wouldn't yield results until a few days later. However, they didn't come back empty-handed, carrying a basket full of bamboo shoots.

Li Chunhua couldn't keep the news to herself and quickly pulled her husband aside to tell him about Xingxing, Liu Ge'er, and Gui Ge'er saving Luo Qiong Niu.

Yu Daniu exclaimed, "Those kids did a great job!"

Li Chunhua beamed with pride. "Indeed! The whole village is praising our family. When I went to the stream to wash clothes, everyone was complimenting me. Some even asked if our Huai Geer had spoken to any girls yet, saying that marrying into our family would be reassuring!"

Yu Daniu quickly cautioned, "Don't give them any false hopes. Huai Geer is the eldest grandson; his marriage will be arranged by our parents."

Li Chunhua nodded repeatedly. "I know, I know; I was just telling you... Anyway, this incident has improved our family's reputation even more!"

Yu Daniu nodded in agreement.

When Yu Erhu learned about this from Bai Xiaofeng, he was overjoyed, grinning foolishly. "Wife, you're great at raising children!"

Bai Xiaofeng gave Yu Erhu a sidelong glance but seemed different than usual.

Yu Erhu felt a surge of warmth as he heard Bai Xiaofeng whisper, "Husband, we only have two sons; let's have a daughter next?"

Yu Erhu's heart raced, and he immediately responded loudly, "Yes, let's have a daughter!"

His voice was so loud that their two sons outside heard him.

Bai Xiaofeng: "..."

Frustrated, she slapped his arm hard!

Who wanted to have another daughter with this fool!

The first and second families were all cheerful, but the third family was quiet.

Su Rouer, facing away from Yu Sanbao, lazily told him to fetch water himself.

Yu Sanbao replied with an "Oh," not thinking much of it.

At dinnertime, Li Chunhua had prepared wild vegetable pancakes and mushrooms stewed with bamboo shoots, a relatively sumptuous meal. Her cooking skills were indeed excellent, and the aroma alone promised deliciousness.

Yu Siyang, the fourth son of the Yu family, had suffered from an illness as a child, which affected his intellect, though he wasn't entirely stupid, just simpler and more innocent than most.

He praised loudly, "Elder sister, your cooking is really fragrant!"

Li Chunhua smiled broadly. "I'm glad you like it!"

Bai Xiaofeng coughed lightly, her smile unchanged. "Father, Mother, these wild vegetables were dug up fresh this morning by Liu Ge'er, Gui Ge'er, and Xingxing."

Not wanting to be outdone, Li Chunhua added, "These mushrooms and bamboo shoots were freshly picked today by Huai Geer and Bai Geer."

Yu Lao listened and nodded approvingly. "Good, good, all the children are helping out at home; they're all doing well." He chuckled, "They also told me that our children saved the Luo family boy's life. Good, they are all good children of the Yu family!"

Everyone laughed.

Bai Xiaofeng originally wanted to add more, but seeing Wei Pozi's silence and stern expression, she glanced quickly at Su Rouer and decided to remain silent.

Wei Pozi's face remained calm, showing no emotion.

After dinner, Ju Geer couldn't sit still and called out to go play. Wei Pozi then spoke calmly, "Ju Geer, stay. Third son and your wife, stay too; I have something to say."

Su Rouer's face changed slightly, becoming uneasy.

Only Yu Sanbao, though slightly puzzled, saw nothing unusual in his mother wanting to talk to her son. He agreed and held Ju Geer tightly, patting his son's small bottom to keep him quiet.

Ju Geer struggled in his father's arms, kicking his chubby legs, but eventually gave up and stayed put.

Bai Xiaofeng became excited, wanting to stay and watch the drama, so she cleaned the dishes very slowly.

Li Chunhua looked at Bai Xiaofeng curiously.

This old second daughter-in-law always puts on a good show in front of Father and Mother. What's wrong with her today? Why is she being so slow? Isn't this delaying Mother's affairs?

Could it be that she's not feeling well?

Could it be that her period came early?

Li Chunhua couldn't guess, so she went forward and quickly tidied up the table, saying kindly to Bai Xiaofeng, "Second daughter-in-law, if you're not feeling well, go rest. I'll take care of it!"

She swiftly carried the bowls and chopsticks out of the door.

Once the people from the other rooms had mostly dispersed, even Xingxing was taken out for a walk by Old Man Yu. Now, only Wei Pozi, Yu Sanbao, Su Rouer, and Ju Geer were left in the room.

"Mother, what is it?" Yu Sanbao, straightforward as ever, didn't think much about it.

Wei Pozi sat at the edge of the bed, her expression indifferent. She ignored her third son and instead asked Ju Geer, "Ju Geer, tell me, did you touch anything in my room?"

Upon hearing this, Yu Sanbao immediately bristled. He knew it; his mother wouldn't have called him here for nothing. It must be because that naughty little brat Ju Geer was up to mischief again!

But before he could say anything, Ju Geer loudly protested, "I didn't touch anything! I didn't touch Grandma's plants on the windowsill," and ran behind his mother, hugging her waist tightly and burying his head into her side.

Yu Sanbao: "..."

This little brat might as well confess outright!

Wei Pozi's eyes shot daggers at Su Rouer.
