Chapter 396 Let’s Talk Inside
by 小辫子Chapter 396 Let's Talk Inside
"An Ningxin, you wretched woman—" Countess Qin'an's face twisted as she cursed aloud.
The woman's face was ghostly pale, devoid of any color. The dress she wore was the same one from when the incident happened, stained with blood, making her complexion even more ghastly.
An Ningxin's face was pale, her hand gripping the doorframe slightly curled, her voice hoarse as she said, "Countess Qin'an, can't we talk this through calmly…"
Countess Qin'an despised An Ningxin's fragile demeanor the most. Seeing this, she sneered, "You shameless hussy, always putting on this weak act to seduce men! You’ve bewitched our lord! Your miscarriage is your retribution! That child was cursed to be born to you. It’s a mercy it’s gone now, sparing it from a mother like you!"
These words seemed to strike the deepest part of An Ningxin's heart. Her face turned even paler, her entire body trembling slightly, her grip on the door becoming unsteady.
She snapped and screamed at Countess Qin'an, "Shut up, just shut up!"
A small figure darted out, "You wicked woman, don't you dare talk about my mother like that!"
He charged at Countess Qin'an, punching and kicking her.
An Ningxin cried out, "Master Hao!"
Countess Qin'an, who already saw this mother and son as thorns in her side, her eyes gleamed with malice. She grabbed Master Hao and slammed him to the ground!
An Ningxin’s eyes bulged in terror, screaming, "Master Hao!"
Master Hao curled up in pain, unable to get up, wailing loudly.
An Ningxin crawled frantically toward Master Hao.
However, having just miscarried, she was too weak and crumpled to the ground, unable to get up.
Even so, An Ningxin dragged herself across the ground, reaching out with her hands, crying hoarsely, "Master Hao—"
The scene was gut-wrenching. Li Chunhua and Wei Pozi rushed to An Ningxin’s aid.
Xingxing, without a second thought, ran over to pick up Master Hao and checked his pulse.
It was winter, the ground covered with snow, and people were dressed warmly. Master Hao was only frightened.
Xingxing let out a relieved sigh and said to An Ningxin, who was being helped up, "Don’t fret, Master Hao’s unharmed."
Master Hao stumbled over and hugged An Ningxin's leg, sobbing inconsolably, "Mom, mom—"
An Ningxin seemed to have all her strength drained, half-leaning on Li Chunhua, almost out of breath.
As mothers, Wei Pozi and Li Chunhua couldn't bear to watch.
Countess Qin'an, however, said sarcastically, "You two must not be fooled by this wench's act. She's always putting on this show. That's how she seduced our lord, stealing his soul!"
Wei Pozi couldn't stand it anymore, "Your adult disputes have nothing to do with a three-year-old child!"
Countess Qin'an retorted with conviction, sneering, "A bastard born from a shameless woman, what good can he be! I think, when he grows up, he might end up just like his mother, living off his looks—"
An Ningxin seemed to have reached her limit, her eyes bloodshot as she looked up, "Enough! Enough!"
Countess Qin'an sneered, "Enough?! This is far from enough!" She gritted her teeth, "The humiliation of my daughter's first birthday without her father present, I will make you repay it a thousand times over!"
Countess Qin'an's face twisted for a moment, "...This is just the beginning! I tell you, An Ningxin, not only will I make your life miserable, but I will also ensure your daughter and son are trampled upon, unable to lift their heads for the rest of their lives!"
An Ningxin stared fixedly at Countess Qin'an, suddenly starting to cough violently.
This cough left specks of blood resembling red plum blossoms on the snowy ground!
Master Hao was terrified, clutching An Ningxin's leg and crying out for his mother.
At that moment, a man dressed in luxurious robes and a jade crown hurried into the clinic's back room. Seeing this scene, his eyes widened in shock, and he exclaimed in a panicked voice, "Ningxin!"
Countess Qin'an turned sharply to look, only to see the man act as if he didn’t see her and dash over. He hurriedly embraced An Ningxin, asking anxiously, "Ningxin, what's wrong with you?!"
It seemed the main figure had arrived—
Wei Pozi and Li Chunhua both awkwardly took a step back.
An Ningxin, however, summoned all her energy and abruptly pushed the Earl of Qin'an away.
The Earl of Qin'an was frozen in place, his eyes filled with disbelief.
She trembled, reaching out towards Wei Pozi and the others, and pleaded in a hoarse voice, "...Please, help me inside... Let's talk inside..."
At this point, Wei Pozi and Li Chunhua couldn’t just leave.
They supported An Ningxin on either side and led her to the nearest room.
The small rooms in the back of the clinic were makeshift patient rooms, each not very spacious. With An Ningxin and Master Hao, Wei Pozi and Li Chunhua with Xingxing, plus the Earl and Countess of Qin'an, the room was already cramped.
The Earl of Qin'an was unsettled by how An Ningxin had treated him, his gaze falling on Wei Pozi, Li Chunhua, and Xingxing. "...Who are they?"
An Ningxin sat back on the bed, supported by a thick pillow Wei Pozi had placed for her, covered with a quilt. Despite this, her face and lips remained pale.
She said in a hoarse whisper, "If it weren’t for them, Master Hao and I would already be dead..."
The Earl of Qin'an was speechless.
Countess Qin'an couldn’t stand this, casting a sharp glance at Wei Pozi and Li Chunhua, implying, "Though saving a life is a noble deed, some lives, when saved, cause great harm!"
Wei Pozi and Li Chunhua didn’t want to respond to Countess Qin'an.
"My Lady," An Ningxin suddenly called out to Countess Qin'an.
Countess Qin'an's face showed disgust. "Don’t call me, it disgusts me!"
The Earl of Qin'an was furious. "You shut up!"
Countess Qin'an was both humiliated and bitter, her hatred for An Ningxin deepening.
An Ningxin lowered her eyes, her pale face lowered, and said in a hoarse voice, "...My Lady, you always say it was I who seduced the Earl. Now that the Earl is here, and the kind people who saved me are also present, let’s speak openly."
The Earl of Qin'an's face flashed with panic. "Ningxin!"
Countess Qin'an, however, was utterly disdainful.
As if a mistress could lure the Earl away from his own home—what else could it be if not seduction?!
An Ningxin ignored the Earl of Qin'an, her pale face lowered, and went on, her voice raspy, "...It was five years ago that I first met the Earl of Qin'an..."
