Chapter 203: If you act foolishly, wouldn’t you just look like a pig?

Seeing that Xingxing had joined the others, Yu Yonghuai and his brothers exchanged glances and decided to follow her.
Ah Wu and the others followed the servants to the base of the tree and looked up.
The tree was several yards tall, with the butterfly-shaped kite hanging from a high branch, like a fluttering butterfly resting on a branch.
Ah Wu looked at it for a while and said nonchalantly, "It looks pretty good as it is. Maybe we should just leave it there."
Xingxing hesitated and asked softly, "But what if it rains? Won’t the kite get wet?"
Ah Wu thought about it and realized that if the butterfly kite got wet, it would just become a soggy frame hanging on the branch.
It would look pretty bad.
It was better to take it down.
But the problem was, the tree was too tall. How could they reach it?
One of the scholars chimed in, "Miss Liu, don’t worry. It’s just a kite. I have a brightly colored one bought from Zhoucheng. I’ll have someone fetch it for you to ease your concerns."
Máo Lín shot the man an unhappy glance.
Come on, does our young mistress need your kite?
Ah Wu also shook her head and declined with a smile, "No need. I’m just worried that it will get ruined by the wind and rain up there, which would look ugly."
The scholar felt encouraged by Ah Wu’s kindness and suggested, "That’s no problem. We could bring a ladder over, and I’ll get the kite down for Miss Liu."
Getting a ladder was indeed an idea.
However, the ladder was only about ten feet tall, while the tree was over twenty feet tall, with the butterfly kite hanging high on a branch. There was no way to reach it.
Ah Wu also declined this suggestion.
Huai Geer saw that Xingxing had been looking up for a while and walked over to her, asking, "Do you want to get that kite down, Xingxing?"
Xingxing nodded her little head, and her fair little face showed a hint of worry. "...That butterfly kite is so beautiful. It can’t just rot on the tree. It would be such a shame..."
Huai Geer nodded, understanding.
"It’s not a problem. Wait here, Xingxing. Brother will get it down for you." Huai Geer said confidently.
The scholar who had failed in his earlier attempt scoffed, "Yonghuai, aren’t you boasting? How are you going to get it? Fly up there?"
Yu Yonghuai ignored him.
This guy didn’t get how cute Xingxing was. He wasn’t on the same page.
Yu Yonghuai stepped a couple of paces away from Xingxing.
Before anyone could react, Huai Geer pushed off the ground and started climbing the tree, quickly reaching the nearest branch.
There was a moment of silence—
Huai Geer kept climbing higher through the thick branches.
Before everyone could even react, Huai Geer had already reached the top of the tree and retrieved the kite that was hanging on the branches.
He held the kite in one hand and hooked onto the tree with the other, swinging down a few times before landing steadily.
Everyone stared in amazement, but Xingxing was already excited, her little face beet-red. She clapped her small hands together loudly, "Big brother is amazing!"
Her excitement made her voice crack a little.
Yu Yonghuai couldn't help but feel proud when he saw the admiration in his sister's eyes.
"Here you go," Yu Yonghuai handed the kite to Xingxing.
Xingxing then gave the kite to Moliu but kept circling around Yu Yonghuai, "Big brother, how did you do that just now? Did you fly up?"
Yu Yonghuai, still a thirteen or fourteen-year-old teenager, felt like his tail was about to rise up to the sky with pride.
"It's just a little martial arts," Yu Yonghuai said very "humble"ly, "Not worth mentioning, really."
Mao Lin, also a teenager, was in awe of this kind of tree-climbing "hero," and exclaimed, "Yu Yonghuai, you're really hiding your talents!"
Ah Wu couldn't help but feel proud.
She thought, if Siyang's niece is so cute and his nephew is so amazing, imagine how incredible Siyang himself must be!
Ah Wu proudly raised her delicate chin.
The girls' eyes on Yu Yonghuai were mostly a little fervent.
This made the scholar who failed to impress earlier look at Yu Yonghuai with displeasure.
He stood with one hand in front and the other behind, his sleeves billowing in the wind. His expression was firm, like a resilient bamboo.
He shook his head with some disapproval, "Yu Yonghuai, as scholars of our standing, how can we be so vulgar as to climb trees like monkeys? What kind of decorum is this?"
Yu Yonghuai: "?"
Did this guy never climb a tree when he was a child?
Yu Yongliu disliked how this guy was pretending to be a big shot, trying to elevate himself by disparaging his older brother.
Yu Yongliu sneered, "If climbing a tree makes one a monkey? Then if you show your stupidity, does that make you a pig?"
Before the man could get angry, Yu Yongliu "oh"ed and shook his head, "No, I'm wrong."
"A pig can at least provide meat, quite useful. What about you? Can reciting a few sour poems make the kite fall from being overwhelmed by your sourness?"
Yu Yongliu spoke without holding back.
Everyone burst into laughter, and the man's face turned red, so embarrassed he wished there was a hole for him to jump into!
The girls were also laughing uncontrollably, and the atmosphere was filled with joy for a while.
Ah Wu felt proud again.
Truly worthy of being Siyang's nephew!
The banquet dispersed not long after. Ah Wu had the maids see the girls out.
The male guests' banquet ended a bit later, so Xingxing stayed with Ah Wu a bit longer.
After another hour and a half, the Yujia brothers sent a message to come and fetch Xingxing.
Xingxing said goodbye to Ah Wu with a happy smile.
Ah Wu suddenly took Xingxing's hand. "Xingxing, your Fourth Uncle..."
She paused, unsure of how to continue.
Xingxing looked puzzled. "Ah?"
Ah Wu then became somewhat embarrassed. "Never mind, you're only four. Even if I asked, you're too young to understand. I'll ask Fourth Yang myself when I go to see him tomorrow."
Xingxing nodded. "Okay. Then I'll tell Fourth Uncle to wait for Ah Wu sister at the shop and not go out."
Ah Wu, thinking about meeting Yu Siyang again tomorrow, smiled with her eyes curved.
"Okay."
Shuang He held Xingxing's hand, and Moliu saw them out, where they found several of the Yujia brothers standing there looking somewhat dazed.
Yu Sanbao had already harnessed the carriage and was waiting by the side of the road.
Xingxing was quite puzzled.
Why did the brothers seem so out of sorts?
Once they were in the carriage, Xingxing couldn't help but ask.
"Did something happen? What's wrong with the brothers?" Xingxing was quite worried.
Huai Ge'er swallowed. "Nothing..."
His eyes seemed to drift. "It's just that... we met Grand Scholar Liu."
Xingxing became even more puzzled.
Why were they acting so strange after meeting that elderly scholar?
Bai Ge'er's eyes also drifted, continuing Huai Ge'er's sentence:
"...Grand Scholar Liu asked your Third Uncle if he'd like to study under him."
