    Chapter 665: Chair-Swinging Brawl

Xingxing did her best to console Lou Ruhui.

Yet this time Lou Ruhui was truly heartbroken. The usually lively girl's eyes were swollen like bruised peaches, and she felt miserable all afternoon.

Xingxing patiently stayed by Lou Ruhui's side until evening, when Lou Ruhui started to accept it. Clutching a sodden handkerchief, she tried to console herself: "...Young Master Dou never promised me anything, so it's not like he betrayed me. I was just imagining things. I'm sorry for keeping you with me so long, Xingxing."

Xingxing could tell Lou Ruhui was forcing a smile.

Given Lou Ruhui's personality—she'd even imagined Dou Chengsong passing the imperial exams and proposing—Xingxing knew she couldn't possibly be unaffected.

But since Lou Ruhui was trying to cheer herself up, Xingxing wouldn't press the matter. She glanced at the evening sky outside. "Sister Lou, a new Suzhou-Yangzhou style restaurant opened in the west district. Rumor has it they hired chefs from the south. Let me treat you to dinner?"

Lou Ruhui, her eyes still swollen from crying, nodded. "Then I'll eat extra."

Xingxing couldn't help but laugh. "Deal."

The two went to the new restaurant, but it was packed. Private rooms were all occupied, and even the main hall was full.

Neither Xingxing nor Lou Ruhui would pull rank, so they turned to leave.

Just then, a corner table opened up. A server rushed over, asking if they minded dining in the main hall.

Xingxing looked to Lou Ruhui for approval.

Lou Ruhui didn't mind—the restaurant's popularity surely meant good food.

Besides, the mouthwatering aromas reminded her how hungry she was after crying all afternoon.

    "Let's stay," Lou Ruhui decided.

They took their seats, though the overworked server took time to attend to them.

Lou Ruhui waved him over. "Bring us five or six signature dishes."

"Right away, esteemed guests!" The server dashed off.

Though seated in a corner, the pair drew every eye. Xingxing's beauty was undeniable—adorable since childhood, her looks had now blossomed into breathtaking charm that made her the center of attention wherever she went.

Even Lou Ruhui was a striking, graceful beauty.

Without trying, they attracted numerous admiring glances.

Still downhearted, Lou Ruhui ordered plum wine when the food arrived, drinking cup after cup.

Xingxing couldn't stop her, resolving to give her a hangover remedy later.

Then a bold lecher who'd been staring made his move. Smirking, he boldly announced he wanted to know the beauties better, even reaching for Lou Ruhui. "Sweetheart, let me join you."

    Both girls' faces fell.

Lou Ruhui's maid—trained in self-defense—seized his wrist and hurled him aside.

The man slammed into the floor with a thunderous crash!

    The noisy restaurant fell silent.

He lay there, too stunned and hurt to move.

His attendants rushed over to help him, throwing everything into chaos.

The lecher had been utterly humiliated in public and couldn’t let it slide. After being helped up by his servants, he pointed viciously at Xingxing and Lou Ruhui, shouting, "Do you two even know who I am?! You should be grateful I noticed you!"

With the lecher’s face twisted in rage, Xingxing’s hand crept toward the poison she always carried for self-defense.

Xingxing looked sweet and adorable—who’d have guessed this seemingly innocent girl was plotting how to poison the man?

Lou Ruhui scoffed, already buzzed, deliberately sizing him up with disdain before coldly retorting, "We really don’t know who you are."

The lecher’s servants were equally arrogant. "This’ll scare the hell out of you! Our young master is the son of Prince Wuhe!"

"Prince Wuhe?" Lou Ruhui smirked. "Ooooh, scary."

Xingxing, however, had heard of him and whispered to Lou Ruhui, "Wuhe is a fiefdom near the western border. He probably came to the capital at year’s end to present tribute."

Lou Ruhui shook her head. "Still never heard of him... Must be some backwater nobody, coming to the capital to bully people?"

Xingxing sighed helplessly—her sister Lou was clearly drunk.

Lou Ruhui’s words enraged the lecher, who sneered, "Then today, I’m taking you whether you like it or not!" He then turned to Xingxing, eyeing her like a piece of meat. "And the other one too!"

Lou Ruhui saw red, slamming the table and standing up to curse, but someone reacted faster—a young man flipped down from the second-floor staircase, landing on the first floor and delivering a kick square to the chest of the so-called Prince Wuhe’s son.

The lecher went flying, crashing onto a table before tumbling to the ground as patrons dove for cover.

"In your dreams, asshole!" The young man roared, pointing furiously at the lecher. "Open your damn eyes and see who you’re messing with!"

The lecher was equally furious—he’d been thrown and kicked in one day, his pride in tatters. Fuming, his face purple, he screamed at his men, "What are you waiting for?! Kill them!"

The young man shielded Lou Ruhui and Xingxing, raring to go. "Try me!"

Lou Ruhui was stunned—she recognized him instantly, sobering up fast.

This was the Third Prince, Wei Shiyu!

Xingxing had no time to stop them before the enemy servants charged.

    Patrons scrambled for safety!

Wei Shiyu grew even more excited. "Try me!" He rushed forward bare-handed.

Seeing this, Xingxing didn’t hesitate—she snatched up a stool and joined the fight!

    Zhao Ying shrieked, "M-M-M-Miss!!!"

Lou Ruhui stared in disbelief, now completely sober.

There, her sweet, charming, perfectly well-mannered, adorable little sister Xingxing was wielding the stool like a pro, helping the Third Prince take down enemies—one whack per goon!

Watching this, Lou Ruhui got fired up. Without another thought, she went for... chopsticks.

She stared at them blankly, then tossed them aside and followed Xingxing’s example—grabbing a stool, letting out a battle cry, and diving into the fray!

Not only were the nearby diners stunned, but even Lou Ruhui's bodyguard maids froze for a moment before rushing to join the fight!

This brawl could truly be described as epic!

Though the lecherous man had brought quite a few thugs, Wei Shiyu had been raised brawling—his martial arts instructors were all top-tier fighters. Add to that Xingxing's amazing backup, not to mention Lou Ruhui and her bodyguard maids joining the fray later, and their side achieved a total victory!

Before scrambling away, the lecherous man left behind a typical sore loser’s line: "You just wait!"

Wei Shiyu, with two fresh bruises, raised his fist defiantly: "Sure, I'll be waiting!"

Xingxing dropped the stool, her shoulders and arms completely wiped out.

The restaurant manager and his staff arrived with long faces to assess the damage, but Wei Shiyu slammed down a hundred-tael note: "Consider this compensation!"

The manager's face lit up, and he bowed and scraped as his staff set to cleaning up.

Lou Ruhui sat panting, feeling much of her built-up anger dissipate after the fight—she felt brand new!

Wei Shiyu whirled around to brag to Xingxing: "Did you see that? First a left grapple, then a flip—"

Xingxing rolled her eyes and pointed at the bruises on his face: "Are you really okay like this?"

Wei Shiyu rubbed his chin: "Should be fine... Mother... likes you so much, she’d probably... praise me, right?" He sounded uncertain.

But he didn’t dwell on it long. Recalling Xingxing’s heroic display, his eyes sparkled with excitement, and he grinned and cracked his knuckles: "We made such a great team just now! We should practice more next time!"

    Xingxing also looked eager.

Zhao Ying winced, her head pounding: "You must be joking! No, no, no—our Young Lady was never meant for fighting!"

She turned to Xingxing, suppressing a scream, and begged: "Young Lady, have you forgotten? When the Young Master tried teaching you boxing, you couldn’t tell left from right!"

    Xingxing blushed slightly in embarrassment.

Not daring to scold Wei Shiyu too harshly, Zhao Ying glared at him accusingly.

Wei Shiyu coughed and changed the subject: "...Why were you dining in the main hall? I have a private room upstairs—just me. Would you like to rest there?"

Having already eaten their fill and with the recent chaos, neither Xingxing nor Lou Ruhui had much appetite left, but they did need to sit and recover.

    After exchanging glances, both nodded.

Wei Shiyu was delighted. He informed the manager: "Put these ladies' bills on my tab—I'll settle everything later," then led Xingxing and Lou Ruhui upstairs to rest.

But barely had the three sat down, their tea still untouched, when commotion erupted in the main hall again.

Wei Shiyu stepped out to find the very same lecherous man they'd beaten earlier had returned—this time with an entire squad of armored guards from the commandery prince's estate!

Wei Shiyu nearly barked out a laugh.

The lecherous man was shouting below: "Where are those bastards who dared strike me?! Tell them to crawl out here now!"

The manager wiped sweat from his brow: "Sir, they... they’ve already left..."

The man snarled: "Left?! Then I’ll smash this place to pieces!"

Wei Shiyu couldn’t stand it anymore. Leaning on the railing, he shouted downstairs, "Hey! Still suckling at your mama’s teat? Our beef’s got nothing to do with the innkeeper. Gotta pick on some poor schmuck to feel better?"

The lecherous man, his face still bruised and swollen from the beating earlier, looked up at Wei Shiyu, his face twisted in rage!

"You just wait!" he roared, waving a long whip around, his face contorted.

Wei Shiyu scoffed coldly, "Bring it on. Who’s scared of who?"

Infuriated, the lecherous man charged ahead, thundering up the stairs, clearly heading straight for Wei Shiyu.

The Prince of Wuhe’s guards he had brought with him swarmed up the stairs after him.

But just as the lecherous man reached the second-floor landing, before he could even step onto the corridor, a figure suddenly darted out from the side and swung a stool straight at his head!

The blow sent him sprawling to the ground, stars exploding in his vision, his skull pounding!

His head buzzed like a beehive!

And at that very moment, a gleaming, ice-cold dagger, its edge glinting sharply, pressed against the lecherous man’s throat.

Xingxing crouched on the ground, holding the dagger, pinning him down. She smiled sweetly at the guards clustered at the stairwell, frozen in place, and said, "One more step, and I open his throat. Got it?"

Though these Prince of Wuhe’s guards didn’t believe this sweet-faced girl would actually kill, they couldn’t help but recall how effortlessly she had just—darted out, swung a stool at a man’s head, tossed it aside, and pulled out a dagger to hold him hostage. The whole sequence had been so fluid that offing a guy or two wouldn’t faze her!

No way they’d risk the young master’s neck!

If anything happened to him, given how fiercely the Prince of Wuhe’s consort doted on her son, she’d have their heads on a platter!

The lead guard’s face paled. "...Easy there!"

Xingxing flashed them a grin. "I’m being nice here. All of you, go back downstairs."

The guards exchanged glances, then slowly retreated from the second floor back to the first.

Wei Shiyu looked at Xingxing, his eyes now filled with admiration.

His future sis-in-law was full of... surprises, alright.

Crouching to hold someone hostage was actually quite tiring.

This so-called ‘young master’ of the Prince of Wuhe’s household, after being whacked by Xingxing’s stool, now lay sprawled on the ground like a sack of potatoes, no chance of him causing trouble.

Xingxing called for Wei Shiyu to lend a hand.

    Wei Shiyu: "What?"

Xingxing pulled out a thin rope from her waist.

    Wei Shiyu: "What?"

Xingxing handed him the rope. "Quit gawking. Help me tie him up."

Wei Shiyu shook himself out of it and quickly took the rope, binding the lecherous man tightly.

By the time they finished, the man had just about regained consciousness, his eyes bloodshot, looking like he might burst a blood vessel.

    "You... you scum..."

The lecherous man spouted filth, but Wei Shiyu wasn’t having it. He casually grabbed a dishrag from the private room and shoved it down his throat!
