    Chapter 34 Found!

    Su Rouer had fallen ill.

She had a high fever and was unconscious, not regaining her senses for several hours. Yu Sanbao hurriedly sought out a doctor in the dead of night.

After such a tumultuous night, Yu Sanbao only managed to rest for an hour before he rushed off to the county again.

He had known many people from all walks of life in the past, and although he had been betrayed by some, he still maintained good relations with others.

If Ju Geer had indeed been kidnapped, there might be some clues to find.

Li Chunhua and Bai Xiaofeng had originally planned to discuss returning to their maternal homes, but they put it aside for now.

A child had gone missing from the household, and even though she wasn't their own, they were still elders. They had no heart to visit their families under these circumstances.

Moreover, Yu Sanbao had specifically asked them to look after Su Rouer, who was burning with fever and unconscious, before he left for the county. Li Chunhua and Bai Xiaofeng couldn't leave either.

The adult men of the Yu family went to other villages to search, fearing that Ju Geer might have wandered into another village.

Only Huai Geer and his brothers remained at home.

Unable to sit idle, Huai Geer discussed with his three younger brothers that they should go to Mount Langshen today.

Although the villagers had searched for most of the night, the darkness and the limited light from torches might have led to missing some clues.

The three brothers agreed unanimously, and a little head with two pigtails popped up beside them, full of hope: "Take Xingxing along! Xingxing wants to find Ju Geer too!"

Gui Geer immediately said, "No way, no way! Grandma will beat me again if she finds out!"

Previously, at the grain drying ground in Beimanggou, Wei Pozi had given Gui Geer a spanking for bringing Xingxing to the front of the crowd!

Gui Geer cried for a long time.

Now that Xingxing mentioned going into the mountains, Gui Geer's first reaction was to protect his bottom from another beating!

Xingxing looked at Gui Geer pitifully.

    Gui Geer couldn't bear it!

Huai Geer roughly ruffled Gui Geer's hair: "It's fine. Last time when we took Xingxing into the mountains, Grandma didn't say anything. If we take good care of our sister, Grandma won't mind."

Seeing his older brother speak so confidently, Gui Geer hesitated for a moment, then nodded decisively, as if making a bold decision: "Okay!"

At worst, he would get another spanking from Grandma!

Xingxing cheered and loudly promised: "Xingxing won't cause any trouble for the brothers!"

Before setting off, Huai Geer took a straw hat and placed it on Xingxing's head.

Huai Geer and Bai Geer each carried a sickle, instructing Liu Geer and Gui Geer to follow closely behind with Xingxing.

The five of them entered Mount Langshen once more.

Huai Geer, strong and loud, called out for Ju Geer along the way.

The other children also shouted Ju Geer's name from time to time.

Xingxing strained herself, calling out Ju Geer's name with all her might.

However, apart from startled birds flying away, there was no other response.

They continued searching until nearly noon, when the sun shone directly overhead, its heat intense. Fortunately, the woods provided some shade, making it tolerable.

But climbing mountains was no easy task, and Xingxing was panting heavily, not wanting to burden her brothers. Liu Geer found her a stick to use as a walking stick.

Even so, Xingxing was exhausted, sticking out her tongue like a puppy, panting heavily.

Huai Geer glanced over and said, "Let's rest by the stream."

    Everyone agreed.

The five siblings supported each other and walked a bit further to reach the stream.

This was the upper part of the small stream at the foot of the mountain, where the water was clear and shimmered in the sunlight, quite beautiful.

Mountain children had no qualms about drinking directly from the stream, and they scooped water with their hands to drink.

The icy cold water refreshed them as it flowed down their throats.

After drinking, they sat on stones by the stream to rest and cool off.

Xingxing noticed some very pretty wild berries growing in the bushes nearby. She told Huai Geer and went to pick them.

However, just as she was about to pick the berries, Xingxing suddenly spotted something familiar in the bushes.

She struggled to crawl in and picked up the object from the bushes.

    "Xingxing!"

The Yu brothers had been watching her, and seeing her suddenly crawl into the bushes, they immediately ran over.

But just as they arrived, they saw the little girl emerge from the bushes, holding something in her hand!

Huai Geer breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Xingxing safe and sound.

Seven-year-old Gui Geer couldn't help but nag: "Sister! If I scared my brothers like this, they would definitely spank me!"

Liu Geer glanced at his younger brother: "Xingxing isn't as mischievous as you!"

Xingxing waved the object in her hand anxiously. "Big brothers, look at this!"

The boys from the Yu family took a closer look and recognized the craftsmanship. "Hey, isn't this the grasshopper that Fourth Uncle made?"

Xingxing nodded vigorously. "Yes, it's the one Fourth Uncle made! ... Xingxing remembers that a few days ago, Fourth Uncle made a grasshopper and gave it to Third Uncle to pass on to Ju Geer!"

At Xingxing's words, the faces of the boys from the Yu family changed.

Huai Geer lifted Xingxing out of the bushes and assigned tasks to his younger brothers. "...Since Ju Geer's grasshopper is here, he must be nearby. You all, search the area quickly!"

With the eldest brother's order, the younger brothers split up to search. Even little Xingxing, using her young and hoarse voice, called out for Ju Geer while looking around.

Soon, they found Ju Geer lying at the bottom of a small slope with signs of a fall. His clothes were torn, his face pale, and he was unconscious.

    "Ju Geer!"

Everyone was shocked. Huai Geer quickly checked Ju Geer's breathing and found it to be very faint.

    "Ju Geer!"

Huai Geer pushed Ju Geer anxiously, but he did not wake up.

Huai Geer picked up Ju Geer, worried. "We need to get back quickly and find a doctor!"

Liu Ge'er immediately said, "Big Brother, you take Ju Geer back first. Gui Geer and Xingxing walk slowly, so we'll stay behind and follow more slowly. I know the way back along the path we came!"

Huai Geer glanced at his brother, knowing that he was always clever and should have no problem getting back from Mount Langshen.

"Alright, Second Brother, take care of your siblings." Huai Geer instructed Liu Ge'er, knowing that Ju Geer's condition was urgent and could not wait. He then ran off with Ju Geer in his arms.
