by 小辫子In Ju Geer's mind, throwing away the grass on Grandma's windowsill was no big deal. It was just a piece of grass, wasn't it?
Grandma’s being so mean!
Su Rouer quickly hugged Ju Geer, her voice edged with reproach: "Mother, can't you just talk to the child properly if there's something wrong?"
Yu Sanbao's eyebrows twitched violently, and his expression darkened.
Now she dares to blame Mother?!
Wei Pozi was livid, breathing hard in her fury.
Yu Sanbao grew anxious and stepped forward to support Wei Pozi: "Mother, don’t be angry! Calm down, calm down! I’ll scold that damn woman later—how could she speak to you like that?!"
Su Rouer held Ju Geer close, mother and son both wearing the same wronged look.
Wei Pozi pushed Yu Sanbao away, stood firm, spine ramrod straight.
"Su Rouer being disrespectful to me as her mother-in-law is one thing—I could let that slide. But what angers me is that she’s teaching Ju Geer to lie and deceive his elders at such a young age!" Wei Pozi’s face was livid. "Earlier, when I was searching the yard for what I’d left to dry, your eldest and second brothers’ wives came out with their children to help me look. With all that racket, don’t tell me Su Rouer didn’t know what was going on! Yet she still encouraged Ju Geer to lie to me! And what’s worse, she deliberately tried to shift the blame onto Xingxing, forcing her to admit she was the one who lost it!"
Yu Sanbao was stunned, unaware such a thing had happened.
He looked at Su Rouer in disbelief.
Su Rouer turned beet red from Wei Pozi’s scolding, but Yu Sanbao’s incredulous expression cut her even deeper!
Su Rouer lashed out, raising her voice: "Ju Geer didn’t mean to do it! I thought it was just a piece of grass! Mom, honestly, are you serious?!"
"Just a piece of grass?" Wei Pozi sneered, her disappointment turning to disgust as Su Rouer remained stubborn, refusing to acknowledge her wrongdoing and still making excuses. "Is this really about a piece of grass? No—it’s about you first teaching Ju Geer to lie, then slandering Xingxing, and now refusing to repent! It shows you have no shame, no decency! With a mother like you teaching him, what hope does Ju Geer have?!"
Wei Pozi’s words were harsh—Su Rouer had never been spoken to like this since entering the Yu family.
She shook from head to toe with disbelief and humiliation.
Not only was Yu Sanbao in the room stunned speechless, but even Li Chunhua and Bai Xiaofeng, listening in under the window, were shocked.
The two exchanged a glance, suddenly realizing how good they had it with Wei Pozi! At the very least, when they made mistakes, Wei Pozi had never berated them like this!
Su Rouer cried out recklessly: "Oh, so that’s what you really think of me?! How dare you look down on me—I’m from the county, and you’re just some backwater hag—"
Before she could finish, Yu Sanbao’s expression twisted in fury: "Su Rouer! Shut your mouth! Keep it up and I’ll slap you!"
In all their years of marriage, Yu Sanbao had never once spoken harshly to Su Rouer—yet now he was yelling at her and even threatening to hit her?!
Su Rouer froze for a moment before she went completely to pieces: "Fine! You and your mother are ganging up on me, aren’t you?! You two can’t stand me and my son—we’ll leave then!"
Like someone possessed, she dragged Ju Geer out with her. "Come on, Ju Geer, let’s go to your maternal grandparents’ house! We’re never coming back!"
Ju Geer was scared stiff, letting his mother pull him away.
Though it wasn’t yet dark, leaving like this was unsafe.
Wei Pozi frowned, still fuming and mortified, but she urged Yu Sanbao to go after them.
Yu Sanbao, still seething, glowered and snapped: "Mother, don’t try to persuade me—did you hear what she said? She clearly looks down on our family! If she wants to go back to her parents, let her!"
With that, Yu Sanbao stormed out of the main room, his face cold.
Li Chunhua and Bai Xiaofeng, crouching outside the window eavesdropping, scrambled up, red-faced with embarrassment.
Fortunately, Yu Sanbao was too angry to notice them.
The two sisters-in-law exchanged knowing looks, signaling each other before pretending nothing had happened and heading to the kitchen to wash dishes.
Once inside the kitchen, Li Chunhua couldn't hold back any longer, clutching her chest repeatedly and tutting. "Has Third Sister-in-law gone mad? How dare she speak to Mother like that! And even... even called Mother a... a..."
She couldn't finish—the insult was just too much!
"Exactly!" Bai Xiaofeng pursed her lips, also indignant. "It's only because Mother has always been too kind to her! Look at what she did and said—in any other family, she'd have been beaten or divorced by now! And yet, she dares to disrespect Mother and flee to her parents' home at a time like this!"
The two sisters-in-law exchanged another glance, both feeling Su Rouer had gone too far.
In the courtyard, Su Rouer hastily packed a few clothes and dragged Ju Geer along, ready to leave.
Ju Geer, having just been scolded by Wei Pozi and sensing the tense atmosphere, naturally wanted to follow his mother to his maternal grandparents' home.
Yu Sanbao burst into the room with a dark expression. "You even cursed at Mother, and now you're throwing a fit over a few words from me? Running back to your parents' house?"
Su Rouer wiped her face and cried out indignantly, "It was your mother who cursed at me first! And you—you even raised your hand to me! How dare you act like you're in the right?!"
Yu Sanbao stared at Su Rouer in disbelief, finding her utterly unreasonable.
That had been a warning! Had he actually laid a hand on her?
Su Rouer waited a moment, but when Yu Sanbao neither softened his tone to coax her nor tried to stop her, she gritted her teeth, grabbed the bundle with one hand and Ju Geer with the other, and stomped out.
Yu Sanbao took a deep breath and slammed the door shut behind Su Rouer.
Su Rouer spun around at the noise, staring in shock at the closed door behind her. Trembling with fury, she stormed out of the Yu family's gate, dragging Ju Geer along in a huff.
The two sisters-in-law in the kitchen glanced at the darkening sky outside, both dumbfounded.
Su Rouer really had some gall!
