Chapter 6 How Do You Teach Your Child?

Su Rouer couldn't hold back any longer and let Ju Geer run out.

As soon as Ju Geer opened the door, he saw Grandma and his brothers in the courtyard and ran straight towards them.

Su Rouer could only stop reluctantly, pouting and sitting back down to continue sewing clothes for Ju Geer.

"Great! You went out to play without me!"

Ju Geer saw the bag of wild fruits under the hem of his eldest brother Huai Geer's clothes and immediately started complaining, stomping his feet and whining.

Huai Geer instantly felt a headache coming on.

His four-year-old youngest brother had always been spoiled by Auntie San, and being the youngest in the family, everyone indulged him. Even Wei Pozi would at most scold the little grandson a bit when annoyed but never laid a hand on him.

Thus, Ju Geer grew more and more spoiled.

"You were out with Auntie San digesting your food then, so you weren't here," Huai Geer patiently explained as the eldest brother. "That's why we went out."

"I don't care, I don't care! You didn't take me!" The four-year-old Ju Geer waved his arms and continued to fuss. "Big Brother is bad, Second Brother is bad, Third Brother is bad, Fourth Brother is bad!"

    Wei Pozi's face fell.

She was originally happy, but now her little grandson was causing a scene. Who wouldn't get upset?

Although Wei Pozi always thought her little grandson was a bit spoiled, he was just a four-year-old child after all. It was normal for him to be mischievous. She was almost fifty; could she really beat up a four-year-old?

    What does a four-year-old know!

Even her steady and reliable eldest grandson used to make mud balls with urine to eat when he was four!

So although Wei Pozi had long been troubled by her grandson's mischief, she had never disciplined him much.

But now there was Xingxing in the house.

Xingxing was only three years old, not even four yet!

With the well-behaved Xingxing around, Ju Geer, who was slightly older, seemed even more unruly, like a little demon!

Ju Geer continued to throw a tantrum, insisting that his brothers take him out to pick fruits right away.

Huai Geer tried to reason with him: "Little Brother, stop it. We only found these wild fruits because we took Xingxing along and had such good luck. I've never seen any wild fruits in those bushes before."

Ju Geer wouldn't listen, twisting his body and stomping his feet. "I don't care, I don't care!"

Gui Geer, seven years old, spoke earnestly: "Little Brother, you're older than Xingxing. Can't you behave better?"

Can't you be more mature like me, a seven-year-old!

"Xingxing, Xingxing, all you talk about is Xingxing!" Ju Geer was shocked and angry. "I just took a nap, and now you're all best friends with her!"

The little four-year-old burst into tears, crying and raging, and knocked over the bag of wild fruits Huai Geer was carrying!

    The wild fruits scattered everywhere!

Everyone gasped, but before they could say anything, they saw Ju Geer turn around and push Xingxing to the ground fiercely!

A four-year-old boy, when angry, can be as strong as a calf!

Xingxing stumbled and fell on her bottom, nearly hitting the back of her head on the large pot used for rainwater if not for Bai Geer, who quickly grabbed her by the collar.

Huai Geer and his brothers were stunned!

Wei Pozi roared angrily, "Ju Geer!"

This shout shattered the peaceful atmosphere of the Yu family courtyard.

The daughters-in-law working inside the rooms trembled in fear.

Especially Su Rouer, Ju Geer's mother, who pricked her finger with a needle, causing a large drop of blood to well up instantly.

Without hesitation, she put her finger in her mouth and rushed to the courtyard.

Ju Geer, who had never been yelled at like this, shuddered and then raised his head, crying loudly.

Hearing her son cry, Su Rouer hurriedly hugged him tightly. "Ju Geer, what happened?"

Ju Geer continued to cry uncontrollably, breaking Su Rouer's heart. She hugged him tighter, glaring at Huai Geer and the others, already blaming them for whatever had happened.

"Mother, look—" Su Rouer turned to Wei Pozi, ready to complain.

But unexpectedly, Wei Pozi was frowning and brushing off the dirt from Xingxing, not even looking at her!

Su Rouer was taken aback, then a surge of shock and indignation washed over her—was her mother-in-law really losing her mind? Ignoring her own grandson's cries and tending to an outsider first?!

"Did you hurt anywhere?" Wei Pozi asked, examining Xingxing from top to bottom, making her turn around to check for any injuries.

The little girl was so thin she looked like she could be blown away by the wind and hung on a tree. Wei Pozi was genuinely worried that her chubby grandson might have injured the fragile little girl.

Xingxing's big, round eyes were filled with tears.

Of course, it hurt. That fall had made her little bottom ache terribly!

But Xingxing held back her pain and tears, trying hard to smile at Wei Pozi. "Grandma, Xingxing doesn't hurt, Xingxing is fine."

She was careful, afraid Wei Pozi wouldn't believe her, and added in a trembling voice, "Really, Grandma, Xingxing is really okay!"

Wei Pozi was stunned, feeling a pang of sadness.

This child without parents, even when she's in pain, doesn't cry or make a fuss, for fear of bothering others.

Especially that brat Ju Geer, who was the one who pushed her and now has the nerve to cry and throw a tantrum, with his mother fawning over him like he's something special!

This contrast made Wei Pozi's heart ache even more.

Xingxing, this child, is too well-behaved, so understanding that it hurts one's heart!

Wei Pozi held back her sadness, pinched Xingxing all over to check if any bones were hurt, and only then did she breathe a slight sigh of relief: "It seems there's nothing wrong."

Xingxing hurriedly nodded: "Yes, yes, Xingxing is fine, not hurting at all."

    Xingxing emphasized again: "Not hurting!"

If it weren't for Wei Pozi still holding her, Xingxing would have jumped on the spot to show Grandma and her brothers that she really wasn't in pain!

Seeing Xingxing unharmed, her brothers also let out sighs of relief.

Su Rouer saw that Wei Pozi had been ignoring her and Ju Geer, as if her eyes only saw that little girl named Xingxing.

Unable to bear it any longer, she hugged Ju Geer and drew out her voice: "Mother!"

Wei Pozi gave a cold laugh; she was just about to deal with someone, and here came the third daughter-in-law herself!

"Third daughter-in-law, what do you want to say?" Wei Pozi asked straightforwardly.

Su Rouer said indignantly: "Mother, I just want to ask why Ju Geer is crying like this?"

Wei Pozi chuckled: "Why don't you ask Ju Geer yourself?"

Ju Geer, seeing his mother there, felt even more emboldened. He raised his voice and accused: "Mother, that little girl took my brothers away! They only play with her, not with me!" His words were full of grievance.

Hearing this, Su Rouer lost her temper and angrily turned to Huai Geer and the others: "Huai Geer, how could you do this as older brothers!"

Huai Geer and the others looked at each other, unsure how to respond to Third Aunt's words.

How could they be blamed for this?

    Wei Pozi had had enough!

She pulled a long face and said coldly: "The brothers didn't say anything because you're their aunt, but I will—didn't you spoil Ju Geer rotten? You wanted to take Ju Geer to digest his food, so the brothers played with Xingxing instead of taking him along. Is that wrong?... Furthermore, Ju Geer knocked over the fruits Huai Geer and the others picked and pushed Xingxing hard. Now he's blaming them. How impressive! Third daughter-in-law, look at how you've raised your child!"
