As Jiang Yang led Lin Shu away from the crowd and out of the office building, his face darkened.
Jiang Yang looked at Lin Shu and demanded, "Lin Shu, what on earth are you doing?"
Lin Shu, realizing that it was the man she had gone to every length to marry, finally came to her senses. "Yang Ge, Yang Ge, my scores were tampered with! They messed up! My score is actually one point higher than the other person's, but I got ranked fifth! Yang Ge, they tampered with it!"
At that moment, Lin Shu conveniently forgot that the scores had been graded strictly, and her original scores, before the re-evaluation, were different. The other person's paper was clearly marked more thoroughly and strictly!
Jiang Yang was suddenly totally confused. What the hell was going on?
Just a moment ago, Supervisor Liu had clearly stated that his wife's score was the lowest among the five. So why was Lin Shu now saying her score was higher than someone else's?
And according to Supervisor Liu, his wife had already been eliminated. But now, Jiang Yang felt a tiny spark of hope. What if his wife was telling the truth?
But with so many people present just now, there was no way Supervisor Liu would cheat right in front of everyone, right?
Jiang Yang knew Supervisor Liu to be a pretty decent and upright person, not someone who would engage in cheating!
"Lin Shu, be rational. Supervisor Liu just said that your score was the lowest among the five."
Lin Shu said fiercely, "No, no! My score is one point higher than that person's!" Lin Shu only remembered what she wanted to hear.
Lin Shu's voice was extremely shrill, and since they hadn't gone far, just below the office building, it immediately caught the attention of people upstairs!
Yu Liang, who had been heads down in his work, was startled by the shrill voice. His pen slipped right out of his hand.
Tsk~
He looked up and glanced outside.
Oh? It's the usual faces again!
He cocked an eyebrow. What was going on with Jiang Yang and his wife, pulling at each other downstairs?
His colleague also curiously leaned over. "Hey, isn't that Jiang Yang? Who's the woman next to him?"
"His wife," Yu Liang answered quietly.
"His wife? That's his wife?" The person's eyes lit up instantly.
"But what are they doing down here?"
"Wasn't today the day they posted the scores?"
"Oh, right, they're probably here to check the scores!"
"So, what's going on between them now? What's with all the tugging downstairs?"
"Was that screech just now from his wife?"
"Did any of you catch what she was saying?"
Yu Liang frowned and thought back. "Something about her score being one point higher..."
"Oh? Could it be she missed the cut by just one point? How unlucky!"
"Could be. She seems kinda crazy."
"Did you all hear it too?"
"Yes, I did. I was about to go down, but I was too busy. Plus, the section chief was in the office. We didn’t dare leave."
"Lin Shu, stop causing a commotion, alright? I said you have the lowest score among the five!" Jiang Yang felt like he had lost all his dignity.
"I’m not causing a commotion! My score is one point higher than hers, so why am I in fifth place?" Lin Shu shook off his hand and shouted.
Oh-ho, looks like we’ve got some major drama!
Yu Liang and the others grew more and more excited, their eyes lighting up.
Jiang Yang saw that she was getting more and more worked up. From the corner of his eye, he noticed there were still people watching. He suddenly regretted losing his temper here; this should have been handled back at home.
"Come back with me," Jiang Yang tried to pull her along.
"No, I can’t go back. If I do, I’ll have no chance!" Lin Shu dodged his hand.
Lin Qing, Wang Jiaojiao, and several others who had taken the exam were still there.
Just then, Supervisor Liu had mentioned he’d re-evaluate scores on the spot if anyone had objections.
While the others weren’t as wild as Lin Shu, some of those who didn’t make it were still a bit resentful, especially those who thought they were capable. The more confident they were, the more resentful they felt.
Lin Qing and Wang Jiaojiao exchanged a glance, and with great tacit understanding, decided to stay.
The person who stepped forward happened to be someone taking the finance department exam. He was quite confident in himself, but when the scores were released, he found himself in third place. He remembered Supervisor Liu mentioning that scores might be adjusted more leniently. Was a miracle about to happen?
Supervisor Liu wasn’t surprised to see someone come forward. After all, he’d already dealt with that hysterical woman. At least these people weren’t yelling at him.
"Have a seat, and I’ll find the test papers," Supervisor Liu said.
"Okay," Li Datou replied, feeling uneasy but also hopeful.
Lin Qing and Wang Jiaojiao also felt a vague sense of tension.
Supervisor Liu finally pulled out the finance department test papers. "What’s your name?"
"Li Datou, third place."
"Alright, I’ll take out the top three test papers. If your score is still lower after the re-evaluation, you won’t be able to say a word, okay?" Supervisor Liu’s tone remained gentle.
Li Datou wiped his face and nodded firmly. "Alright."
"The finance department test papers are mostly calculation questions. The research department engineers have already provided answers for these calculation questions. For this part, we’ll just compare your answers to the standard ones." Supervisor Liu explained.
"Yes," Li Datou nodded.
"So, let’s start with yours?" Supervisor Liu said, holding his test paper.
"Okay," Li Datou replied, clutching his fists, starting to feel nervous.
Supervisor Liu went through the questions, first comparing the calculation questions with the standard answers. As expected, the engineers hadn’t made any mistakes on the calculation questions, so they moved on to the political and quote-based questions.
"Look, just like that female comrade before, the leaders grading the papers gave you some leniency. If they had deducted points for missing a word or two, you would have lost another five points. Do you agree?" Supervisor Liu asked, still gentle.
Li Datou’s face turned pale. He hadn’t expected that his high score was partly due to the leaders going easy on him, but now that the papers had been re-evaluated, he had no way out and had to continue.
Before Li Datou could respond, Supervisor Liu took out the test papers of the two candidates who had scored higher than him—Lin Qing and Wang Jiaojiao’s papers.
"Alright, yours is done. Now let’s look at these two who scored higher than you."
Supervisor Liu first took Lin Qing’s paper. Her paper was a pleasure to look at, with neat handwriting and a clean layout.
"This is the first-place test paper. There are no mistakes in the calculation questions, and the scores for the policy questions are appropriate. Look at her quote-based questions—not a single word is wrong. The leaders didn’t even have a chance to deduct points. Actually, if it were me grading, I might have even added one or two points. Her score is truly solid." Lin Qing knew the test paper Supervisor Liu was holding was hers. After hearing his evaluation, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and unclenched her fists.
