Chapter 580: Ugly People Make Trouble – Daily Life of the Delicate Aunt in the Courtyard
by 苓菱子Chapter 580: Ugly Folks Cause the Most Drama – The Gossip-Fueled Daily Life of the Frail Little Auntie in the Compound
After Zhou Qin's failed pursuit of Liu Qingqing, he set his sights on other young female workers in the factory.
However, with Liu Qingqing’s example fresh in their minds, those young women dodged him like the plague, booking it the second they saw him to prevent him from latching onto them.
Over time, even he started losing steam.
Of course, these were all events that came later.
After Zhou Qin’s ridiculous pursuit of Liu Qingqing turned into a total joke, Wang Qiaomei was the most delighted. She hated Zhou Qin the most—blaming him for the loss of her two children.
Wang Qiaomei even made a point of taunting Zhou Qin to his face, almost setting him off. Fortunately, she ran fast enough to avoid a beating.
Eldest Master Zhou was also freaking out. Knowing he himself was no longer capable, he had banked on Zhou Qin. Who would have thought this guy would be a total screw-up, to the point where young women now ran for the hills when he came near?
"What the hell do we do now?"
Auntie Zhou pretended to be asleep nearby, listening to Eldest Master Zhou’s muttering. Even with her eyes closed, she couldn’t help rolling them so hard she saw her brain. With someone like Zhou Qin, it was unlikely anyone in the city would ever give him the time of day!
After all, Zhou Qin’s reputation had long spread throughout the city.
Who didn’t know about this ugly man with delusional standards now?
Only someone as two-faced as Qin Xianglian would bother humoring him—who else would give him the time of day?
Auntie Zhou was downright disgusted with Qin Xianglian in her heart.
During this time, whenever Auntie Zhou saw Qin Xianglian, she couldn’t help recalling Zhou Qin’s gross comments, which still made her want to vomit. This only sealed the deal for the Su women’s theory that Auntie Zhou was pregnant.
They planned to take advantage of the Zhou father and son being at work to have Mother Su threaten Auntie Zhou—shaking her down for cash in exchange for keeping her "secret" hidden.
Soon enough, they found the perfect opportunity.
When Auntie Zhou saw Mother Su waltz in, she looked utterly confused. "Mother Su, what do you want?"
Mother Su leaned in with a sneaky grin. "Auntie Zhou, I know your secret."
"What secret?" Auntie Zhou’s eyes darted around nervously. Could it be about her secretly supporting her daughter?
To Mother Su, Auntie Zhou’s reaction was clear evidence of guilt, and she grew even more smug.
"If you don’t want me to expose your secret, you’ll have to give me this." Mother Su made the universal ‘pay up’ gesture.
The message was obvious—pay up, or your secret gets out.
Auntie Zhou’s face darkened instantly. If she had money, would she still be stuck living so miserably in the Zhou household?
"Scram! I don’t have any money!" Auntie Zhou immediately pushed her toward the door.
Mother Su was stunned. "Y-you… aren’t you afraid I’ll tell everyone your secret?"
"Get lost! I don’t have any secrets!" Auntie Zhou refused to part with even a single cent.
Mother Su, shoved and irritated, snapped, "Fine! Don’t blame me when word gets out!"
"Do whatever you want! I don’t have money!" Auntie Zhou’s stance was firm—not a penny, not a word.
No matter how Mother Su pressed, Auntie Zhou refused to pay up.
Auntie Zhou slammed the door shut with a loud bang after pushing the person out.
She brushed her hands together—did they really believe she didn’t know? Once you give in to this kind of thing, it’ll never stop.
Though Auntie Zhou didn’t know what "secret" Mother Su had on her, one thing was certain—she would never give Mother Su the chance to weasel money out of her.
Mother Su, furious at being treated this way, shouted in the courtyard, "Auntie Zhou, are you really refusing?"
"Get lost!" Auntie Zhou snapped back from inside the house.
Mother Su was so angry she could barely catch her breath.
Mother Lin, Mother Gu, and Auntie Jiang all stuck their heads out of their doors.
"Then don’t blame me for exposing your secret!" Mother Su said loudly, deliberately making sure the others heard.
Mother Lin and the others immediately lit up with excitement, and even Mother Gu and Auntie Jiang started egging her on.
"Tell us! Go on!"
"Spit it out already!"
"What’s the point of keeping it hidden? Let’s hear it!"
Mother Su tossed her head haughtily and glanced at Auntie Zhou’s door, waiting for her to come out and beg.
Auntie Zhou did open the door—but not to plead.
Crossing her arms, she said, "Come on, out with it! I’d love to know what my 'secret' is!"
Under everyone’s gaze, Mother Su found herself on the spot, but she stubbornly insisted, "You asked for it! Don’t blame me when I say it!"
Auntie Zhou shrugged. "Just say it already! Quit stalling!"
Mother Su felt a pang of doubt, but there was no turning back now.
"The secret is—Auntie Zhou is pregnant."
The others immediately turned their eyes to Auntie Zhou: Pregnant?
Really?
Auntie Zhou was so shocked she choked on a cough. "Cough, cough—"
Once she caught her breath, she started cursing at Mother Su. "You’re the one who’s pregnant! Where the hell did you get that idea? I didn’t even know!"
Everyone swiveled to Mother Su: If the person herself didn’t know, how did you find out?
Seeing their doubtful stares, Mother Su quickly explained, "Don’t believe me? My daughter-in-law saw Auntie Zhou throwing up constantly! What else could it be?"
Auntie Zhou’s mind raced, and suddenly, she put two and two together. She nearly exploded. "You—!"
"And whose fault is that? It’s all because of your daughter-in-law! Instead of playing the grieving widow, she’s filling his ear with trash, and then he repeats it word for word to me and his father! It’s enough to make anyone sick! No wonder she makes me sick every time I see her!"
The crowd was stunned. Just how furious must she be to unleash such a torrent of curses without pause?
And according to Auntie Zhou, her vomiting wasn’t due to pregnancy—just pure disgust.
Ew. Mother Su, however, was still clueless what any of this had to do with Qin Xianglian!
Mother Jiang immediately asked, "What exactly did Auntie Zhou say?"
The others were curious too!
Auntie Zhou couldn't hold it in and immediately imitated Zhou Qin, blurting out some ridiculous lines: "My Sister Lian said I'm the hottest and toughest dude.
She said a twice-married woman like her is way out of her league with me.
She said I could have any chick I want.
She said any girl who turns me down, it's their loss~
Bleh~ Bleh~"
After saying this, Auntie Zhou disgusted herself again and put on a full gagging show for them.
Her imitation was so spot-on that not only she herself but even Mother Lin and the others, picturing Zhou Qin’s unattractive appearance while saying such nauseating things, caught the ick and started gagging too.
Mother Su hadn’t expected Qin Xianglian to be secretly feeding Zhou Qin's ego like this. Just imagining Zhou Qin’s image along with Auntie Zhou’s words made her want to puke!
"See? See for yourselves! How gross is this?" Auntie Zhou gave them a look that said, "I told you so."
Mother Lin and the others fell into deep silence, finally got why Auntie Zhou was so grossed out.
This really wasn’t her fault!
All you could say was that Zhou Qin, ugly as he was, took it to another level of nasty—what a complete sicko!
