Chapter 243: Conditions – Daily Gossip in the Courtyard of the Sickly Young Aunt
by 苓菱子Chapter 243: Conditions - The Daily Life of the Sickly Young Woman in the Compound
Although Wang Jiaojiao blushed a little from the teasing, that bitterness vanished in an instant when she thought about her previous experience of being deceived.
"Qing Qing, stop teasing me. I don't want to look for a partner right now."
"Don't say that! You're in the prime of your life. You can't let that scumbag affect you!" Lin Qing was worried that once bitten by a snake, she would fear a rope for ten years.
"I really don't want to look for a partner right now. Who knows..."
Lin Qing understood what she left unsaid.
"You shouldn't keep thinking about that man. He's already disappeared from your life. You should give other people a chance. Maybe there's someone suitable, and you shouldn't resist it!"
"Ah, it's not that simple to find the right person." Wang Jiaojiao didn't believe it herself.
Seeing her firm attitude, Lin Qing found it a bit difficult to persuade her further.
Since she wasn't in a rush, Lin Qing didn't need to be either. "Forget it, if you don't want to look for someone, then just do as you please. Fate might still be around the corner. There's no rush!"
"Mm." Wang Jiaojiao nodded.
Unfortunately, without Lin Qing, Wang Jiaojiao didn't know that she still couldn't escape this matchmaking event.
After Wang Jiaojiao and Jin Jianhua broke up, Factory Director Wang, worried that Wang Jiaojiao might still be affected by that scumbag and concerned that she might encounter similar men in the future, had been trying to set her up with someone dependable, so she wouldn't repeat the past.
But Wang Jiaojiao, just like she refused Lin Qing, rejected all of them.
Although Factory Director Wang was somewhat happy that his daughter didn't have to rush into marriage, he was still worried that she might end up never getting married.
So, with these mixed feelings, Factory Director Wang had been scouting out potential matches for his daughter.
Over time, he had found several candidates and wanted Wang Jiaojiao to go on blind dates, but Wang Jiaojiao simply didn't want to start a new relationship, so she turned down one blind date after another.
When the factory announced they were organizing a matchmaking event, Factory Director Wang immediately had an idea.
He planned to invite all the candidates he had in mind to participate in the event. If one didn't pan out, try a few more. Surely, one of them would be suitable.
No matter what, even if he had to coax her, he'd make sure Wang Jiaojiao showed up.
In any case, Wang Jiaojiao, who was just going about her work as usual, had no idea that her father had arranged this for her.
Lin Qing not pushing the issue was a relief for Wang Jiaojiao.
She didn't like wasting breath on one thing, and Lin Qing's approach of giving a few words of advice and then respecting her decision was something she found very valuable. If it were someone else, they would probably keep pestering her.
Wang Jiaojiao really liked this about Lin Qing. She would advise, but not too much, and whether to listen or not was up to her.
Regarding the scumbag incident, Lin Qing had advised her more, but if Wang Jiaojiao had insisted on not listening to reason, Lin Qing would have eventually given up. After all, why bother forcing it?
If it had really come to that, the two of them wouldn't be as close as they are now.
"Qing Qing, thanks a lot!" Wang Jiaojiao was thanking her for both the past and the present.
"What are you thanking me for? We're best friends, after all!"
"Mm."
"By the way, since you're not going, do you think Hui Hui will go?" Lin Qing wondered.
Wang Jiaojiao thought for a moment, "She’s likely to go. Didn’t she say before that she was looking for a suitable marriage partner through matchmaking? This time, even though we don’t know which units are participating in the matchmaking event, there should be quite a few participants, giving her more options. I bet she won’t miss it."
Lin Qing thought the same, "I hope she gets what she’s looking for!"
Sure enough, when the three of them met up at noon, Fu Huihui brought up the topic.
"Did you hear our factory is hosting a matchmaking event?"
"Yeah," both Lin Qing and Wang Jiaojiao nodded simultaneously.
"So, what do you think?" Fu Huihui mainly looked at Wang Jiaojiao, since Lin Qing was already married and had no connection to this event.
"I’m not planning to go," Wang Jiaojiao said honestly.
"Wait, you’re not going?" Fu Huihui thought she would have company!
"Yeah," Wang Jiaojiao shrugged indifferently.
"I’m not ready to start looking for someone yet."
"Okay then! Looks like I’ll be the only one going to this matchmaking thing." Anyway, she wanted to take advantage of this good opportunity to find a suitable marriage partner for herself.
The factory dorm is really not a great place to live!
She wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, and the only way was to find a suitable marriage partner and get married.
Lin Qing glanced at Fu Huihui, who was lost in her own thoughts, and said, "Huihui, what kind of guy are you looking for?"
"Well... first, he should be decent-looking, not too bad, um... secondly, I hope he has an independent place to live, at least a house of his own."
Lin Qing nodded as she listened. If she weren’t married, these would probably be her basic criteria too.
"Ideally, he shouldn’t have a super complicated family." She didn’t like having a big family all living together; it’s too complicated. Dealing with family drama every day would be exhausting. Her own family isn’t even that complicated, and they still make such a big deal out of things. She couldn’t imagine how life would be if it were even more complicated.
Lin Qing kept nodding; Huihui was pretty clear about what she wanted.
Wang Jiaojiao, however, had a slightly different opinion, as she often heard her mother nagging at home, "Wouldn’t it be better to have a couple of brothers? You wouldn’t have to shoulder everything alone when something happens."
Lin Qing and Fu Huihui both shook their heads. Lin Qing explained, "You’re only thinking about the good stuff, but you’re not considering the downsides. For example, if there are several brothers in the family, can the parents treat everyone equally?"
Lin Qing’s words hit the nail on the head, "Can you really be sure the brothers will get along?"
"But I remember Cen Gong has a brother too!"
Lin Qing smiled, "But they don’t live together, and Cen Xi and his brother have different career paths, so there’s no competition for resources."
Wang Jiaojiao nodded in realization, "Oh, I see!"
Fu Huihui also chimed in, "Qing Qing is right. Look at my family, I just occupied a room and some family resources, and now I’ve been kicked out."
Wang Jiaojiao understood, "So how are you going to choose? It probably won’t be easy." After all, many people nowadays have several brothers in their families.
Fu Huihui nodded. She knew her conditions were somewhat strict, but she didn’t want to rush into a marriage hastily. Setting higher standards early on could help weed out the wrong guys.
