Chapter 41 Warmth
by 范氏女子Chapter 41 Heartwarming Exchange
"Alright, the truth is I had no choice but to take Zai Zai and Niu Niu back to the countryside," Su He sighed.
"What happened?" Fu Tinghua asked with a frown.
"It's Dr. Xie who lives next door. She lost a bracelet and accused me of taking it. The neighbors' talk got so vicious that I moved back to the rural area with the kids."
Hearing this, Fu Tinghua’s face darkened sharply.
However flawed Su He might be, she would never steal from others.
Though she was usually bossy and hot-headed, she had grown up in the city, and her father was a teacher—she had too much pride for that.
But—
"I know you. There's no way you'd steal. But I also know Dr. Xie well. She wouldn’t make baseless accusations."
So there must have been some misunderstanding.
Su He was surprised by Fu Tinghua’s unwavering trust.
She nodded and said, "It really was a misunderstanding. In fact, just a couple of days ago, she came all the way here to apologize to me."
Hearing this, he exhaled in relief.
He had a good relationship with Xie Yunxin and trusted her character. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked her to keep an eye on Su He and the kids before he left.
"If that’s all, I’ll rush through a shower first," Su He added.
Fu Tinghua still had many questions, but in the end, he decided not to ask anything further.
Su He hurriedly took a shower and returned to her room.
The two children were already fast asleep. She sneakily tucked all the embroidery she had brought today into her space, then lay down on the bed and sent her mind into the space as well.
She posted a few images of the embroidery on the forum, stating that prices were flexible and interested buyers could DM her.
She was done selling to the system—instead, she would test the forum first.
Just as she was about to exit the space, someone DMed her.
"Hello, do you have a lot of this kind of embroidery?"
Su He thought for a moment before replying, "How much do you need?"
"I’ll take all of it."
Su He was stunned by the buyer’s bold offer, but even if they wanted a large quantity, she wasn’t planning to lowball her prices.
After all, her mother had put heart into every stitch.
"What’s your price?" Su He asked.
"I can give you 3K points per piece," the person replied.
3K points? That’s a steal!
The system lowballed her at one thousand. "Alright, but I’ve got terms."
"Go ahead," the reply came.
"Some designs are trickier and need further discussion," Su He answered.
"Deal!"
So Su He sold over twenty pieces of embroidery at once, raking in more than 60,000 credits.
This was the first time Su He had made such a large sum of credits in one go—all her mom’s doing.
She planned to buy twenty more durian trees to plant, covering their family’s plot and Aunt Niu’s land.
She spent another 30,000 credits on thirty durian saplings, bringing it up to fifty trees total—enough to fill the two plots Su He had marked out.
Once everything was set, Su He finally went to bed at ease.
The next morning, Su He was up at the crack of dawn.
She went to the backyard to check, and the greens had already sprouted thickly. Still young but ready to pick.
She had used high-yield seeds, which produced better results, so looking at the backyard garden now, Su He couldn’t help but feel proud.
After picking some greens, she rinsed them under the faucet.
In the kitchen, she took out flour from her inventory and began working the dough, planning to make noodles for breakfast today.
Last time, she had made daoxiao mian (shaved noodles), but this time she decided to try lamian (hand-pulled noodles).
Since these were vegetables she had grown herself, they called for fresh noodles.
Su He had considered store-bought noodles, but she felt they wouldn’t taste as good as homemade ones, so she decided to make them herself.
The kitchen clatter woke Fu Tinghua, who was still asleep.
He glanced at his watch—it wasn’t even seven yet.
Getting out of bed, Fu Tinghua felt wide awake. Last night had been the best night’s sleep in ages.
Walking into the kitchen, he saw Su He kneading dough.
Hearing the noise, Su He glanced over at Fu Tinghua, surprised he was up so early. Realizing she might have woken him, she said apologetically, "Sorry, did I wake you?"
Fu Tinghua observed quietly as Su He skillfully worked the dough, pinched off small pieces, and then rolled them into thin strips.
"No, I usually wake up naturally around this time," Fu Tinghua replied.
Seeing that Su He was tied up, he added, "I’ll go wash up first and come back to help."
Without waiting for her response, he went to brush his teeth and wash his face.
By the time he returned, Su He had already finished preparing the noodles and was starting to cook them.
It seemed there wasn’t much left for him to help with, and Su He didn’t ask for assistance either.
Noticing they were running low on firewood, Fu Tinghua went to the backyard and was surprised to find it packed with plants.
Last night, it had been too dark to see anything, but now he could see how Su He had everything in order.
After scanning the nearly empty woodpile, Fu Tinghua gathered the remaining firewood and brought it to the kitchen.
Seeing the things in his hands, Su He realized and said, "Are we running low on firewood? We need to go up the mountain to chop some."
"I'll go with you," Fu Tinghua suddenly suggested.
"Huh? Don’t you need to return to the hospital?" Su He blurted out thoughtlessly.
"You seem in a hurry to get rid of me? Why?" Fu Tinghua looked at the woman before him, who was so different now, and asked in confusion.
Su He: ...
Just as she was about to say something, Niu Niu's voice suddenly rang out.
"Mom, it smells so good!" Niu Niu exclaimed happily.
Every day, Mom would prepare different delicious meals for them—it made them so happy.
"You're up," Su He said. Her focus shifted completely to the children as soon as she saw them, no longer in the mood to deal with Fu Tinghua.
"Mom, what’s for breakfast today?" Zai Zai also ran over, curiously peeking into the pot.
"I'm making you noodles today. See these vegetables? You helped plant them with me," Su He replied with a smile while stirring the noodles in the pot.
"Wow! Are the vegetables ready to eat? Let’s go check!" Niu Niu said, pulling Zai Zai along as they dashed toward the backyard.
"Easy now, take it slow, don't step on the vegetables," Su He called after them.
"Got it~"
Seeing such a heartwarming scene early in the morning, even though Fu Tinghua was unsettled by the current Su He, he was grateful for her change.
"By the way, what were you saying earlier?" Su He suddenly asked Fu Tinghua again after the kids left the kitchen.
