    Chapter 71 Danger!

When the kids woke up that afternoon, it was already past two o’clock.

The sky was clear as could be, and Su He couldn’t bring herself to say no to the kids going up the mountain to play, so she decided to go with them.

After all, sending the kids up alone was way too risky.

When they reached halfway up the mountain, Niu Niu excitedly said to Ji Liangchuan, "Brother Liangchuan, we must find mushrooms! The mushrooms on the mountain taste even better. If we find them, we can ask Mom to cook them for us again tonight."

Hearing her daughter's words, Su He thought for a moment before saying, "Niu Niu, you shouldn’t force things like this. Stay calm about it.

If we find them, great; if not, that’s just how it goes.

Don’t set your expectations too high, okay?"

Niu Niu stared at her mom like she was speaking gibberish, looking a little confused, but she still replied, "I understand, Mom. Even if we don’t find mushrooms, it’s okay. We still have tons of yummy stuff at home."

Then she got excited all over again.

    Su He: "..."

This kid was so upbeat that she probably wouldn’t be sad even if they didn’t find any mushrooms.

Her earlier words were actually meant for Ji Liangchuan—this child was still so young, yet he already worried too much.

Hearing Niu Niu say they *had* to find those mushrooms, she was afraid he’d take it hard if they came up empty.

Since they were already here, Su He decided to grab some firewood to take back down the mountain.

So while she was busy chopping wood, the kids started hunting for treasure on the mountain.

Su He deliberately chose a hillside with less dense vegetation, one that villagers often used.

After all, she was bringing someone else’s child up the mountain, and she was really worried they might run into snakes or insects.

But perhaps thanks to his main character luck, Ji Liangchuan not only found the type of mushrooms Niu Niu loved, but even found another type—the same kind she’d sold in her space before.

"Mom, Mom! We found so many mushrooms! Brother Liangchuan found them!" Niu Niu exclaimed excitedly.

Hearing this, Su He immediately went over to the kids, and the sight before her left her speechless.

Under a tree in one corner, there was a large patch of mushrooms growing—like someone had planted them there on purpose.

But Su He knew no one grew mushrooms here. For a moment, she felt like the world she was in had turned surreal.

Main character perks were no joke.

They’d never seen so many mushrooms in one place!

"Liangchuan, nice work! I’ll pick them, and we’ll cook them for you tonight," Su He said with a smile.

"Woohoo! We’re having mushrooms tonight!" Niu Niu cheered even more excitedly, like she’d struck gold herself.

Ji Liangchuan, however, got all shy at Su He’s praise, turning red.

But soon enough, he jumped right in to help pick the mushrooms.

Just as Su He was busy picking, the space system’s alert pinged in her head.

"Detected a rare ginseng nearby, locking in on the precise location."

Before Su He could even react with surprise or joy, the system’s voice added, "Final position locked. You should grab it ASAP."

    What?! 500K points!

    Oh my god!

Su He quickly looked in the direction indicated by the system. Seriously? An actual arrow? The ginseng must be way out there.

But how did the system detect it from such a distance?

Su He steadied herself with a deep breath, swiftly finished picking the mushrooms and packed them into her basket, then said to the kids, "Let’s check out another spot."

The kids didn’t pick up on Su He’s weird vibe and trooped after her.

Especially Ji Liangchuan—this was his first time playing in the mountains, and he’d even found something. He was buzzing with excitement and pride, making him like Su He’s family even more.

Following the arrow’s guidance, Su He walked and walked until she suddenly realized something was wrong—this stupid arrow was taking them right to a cliff!

No way she’d have found this spot on her own in a million years.

No shock it stayed hidden! They’d have had no clue what it was.

"Stay put," Su He said sternly to the three kids. "There’s a cliff ahead—you can’t go any further."

Seeing Su He’s suddenly serious face, the kids froze, totally thrown off, and stood rooted to the spot.

Meanwhile, the guiding arrow pointed straight down the cliff edge, making Su He mentally curse.

Of course it couldn’t be easy. It had to be growing right under the cliff—no wonder no one had ever found it!

This was sketchy as hell. Who knew if the edge would hold or what other dangers were lurking? Crap!

But no risk, no reward. If she didn’t take the risk, how else was she gonna hit the jackpot?

With 500K points, she’d have the capital to buy goods from the space and sell them in the real world.

Su He glanced at the kids again and said, "Stay right here and don’t budge, understand?"

"We won’t budge, Mom," Zai Zai replied obediently.

Then Ji Liangchuan spoke up, "Aunt Su, the cliff is really dangerous. Are you going over there?"

    "It’s fine. I’m just going to take a look. There’s something I need there. Don’t worry—if I can’t get it, I’ll come right back."

Hearing her reassurance, Ji Liangchuan relaxed a little. Kid had quite the worry streak for his age.

Gritting her teeth, Su He inched toward the edge.

When she got close, she belly-crawled forward.

Watching her, the kids’ stomachs dropped.

Niu Niu was fighting back tears. What could possibly be worth this?

Su He slowly moved her body to the edge of the cliff and looked down, spotting the ginseng that had been marked.

Thank goodness—it was growing right on the lip of the cliff, within easy reach.

Just as she was about to move up just a bit more to use her knife to dig out the ginseng, she felt someone pressing down on her legs.

Turning her head, Su He almost had the wind knocked out of her.

All three kids were clinging tightly to her legs, each hugging them as if afraid she might fall.

At that moment, Su He felt both touched and annoyed—why wouldn’t these kids listen?

But she knew keeping her cool was key. She couldn’t panic or scold them, so she had to act fast.

First, she took out the net she had exchanged from her space and positioned it beneath the ginseng. Then, she began digging the soil around it with her sickle.

Soon, the ginseng’s roots became visible. Su He kept digging, not letting up for a second.

Before long, as more and more soil tumbled down the cliff, the ginseng, roots and all, was safely caught in Su He’s net.

She didn’t even dare hold it in her hands, immediately storing both the ginseng and the net in her space—she was dead afraid it might slip and fall into the abyss.
