Chapter 102 When Did You Pursue Me?
by 范氏女子Chapter 102: When Did You Chase Me?
Fu Tinghua was over the moon because he had finally held his wife's hand. He replied, "Yes."
"Damn, she’s gorgeous!" the cafeteria auntie said with a grin.
When it came time to grab the trays, Fu Tinghua reluctantly let go of Su He's hand.
Carrying a tray in each hand, he didn’t let Su He carry her own even when she offered.
As they looked for a place to sit, someone called out to him.
"Ting Hua, over here."
It was Chen Jinrong.
Glancing at Su He, Fu Tinghua asked, "Wanna sit with them?"
Su He quirked a brow at Qin Meixuan beside Chen Jinrong and smiled. "Sure."
Three guys and a girl were already there, with two spots left—clearly reserved for Fu Tinghua and Su He.
When Fu Tinghua led Su He over, a doctor piped up with a grin. "Oh, this must be Dr. Fu’s wife, right? Hello, I’m Yao Wentao, Internal Medicine chief."
"Uh, I’m Wu Di," another unfamiliar man introduced himself awkwardly.
The other two Su He knew from earlier, so they stayed quiet.
Su He introduced herself confidently. "I’m Su He."
After sitting down, Fu Tinghua handed her the chopsticks and slid his plates her way. "Take what you want; I’ll eat the rest."
His words made Su He blush. Since when was he this clingy? Saying such things in front of so many people...
What Su He didn’t know was that from the moment she took Fu Tinghua’s hand, a switch had flipped in his head.
He took it as her saying yes to him. For the first time, he genuinely understood what it felt like to love someone—especially his own wife. He wanted to do all the mushy couple stuff.
Big deal—he’d eat her leftovers!
Sure, Fu Tinghua acted aloof most days, like he didn’t care about any woman under the sun. But once a guy like him fell in love, he could go all-in with the romance.
The doctors nearby couldn’t help but rag on him after hearing his words.
"Wow, Old Fu, we always thought you were a robot. Who knew you’d be this soft on your wife?"
Yao Wentao had entered the hospital in the same batch as Fu Tinghua. They were college classmates and roommates, so their friendship allowed for casual banter.
Instead of getting annoyed, Fu Tinghua raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Got a problem with that? Aren’t you six months my senior? My kid’s in preschool already."
That zinger hit Yao Wentao—and everyone else—at the table, including Qin Meixuan, who went ghost-white.
The men were all part of the first batch of medical students at the hospital. Back then, they were swamped—no time for dating, let alone kids.
Now, Fu Tinghua was the lone wolf who not only got married but also had a three-year-old child.
"Easy for you to say—try finding women patient enough to put up with us."
"Right, by the way, does your wife have any friends to introduce? I’d like to find a pretty wife myself."
"Come on, look at Tinghua’s face. Isn’t it only natural he’d land a beautiful wife?"
At that moment, no one thought Su He wasn’t good enough for Fu Tinghua anymore.
Indeed, no matter the era, it’s always a world that judges by appearances.
The group chatted and laughed, oblivious to how sour Qin Meixuan’s expression turned.
"I’m full. Enjoy your meal," Qin Meixuan said before picking up her tray and walking away without a backward glance.
Only then did the men recall—didn’t Dr. Qin have a thing for Tinghua?
Afraid Su He might catch on or feel awkward, Wu Di quickly said, "Dr. Qin finished her meal quite fast today, haha."
As the men continued talking, the conversation shifted to medical talk Su He couldn’t keep up with, so she stopped participating.
Fu Tinghua was tuned into her mood throughout. Noticing she had stopped eating, he asked, "You done?"
"Yeah, I’m good. Take your time."
"I’m done too. Let’s head home."
With that, he cleared Su He’s tray as well. Before leaving, he bid farewell to the others and casually took Su He’s hand as they walked away.
Once they were gone, Wu Di patted his chest and said, "Who knew Tinghua was such a doting husband?"
"If my wife were that beautiful, I’d be a doting husband too," Chen Jinrong couldn’t help replying.
"This time, all those doctors and nurses at our hospital who’ve been waiting for Tinghua to get divorced are in for disappointment," Wu Di shook his head and sighed.
"Someone like Tinghua was never going to divorce easily once married," Yao Wentao, who knew Fu Tinghua best, had it figured out long ago.
"This is our shot, hahaha. Maybe Tinghua’s admirers will switch to me instead? After all, I’m not exactly hard on the eyes either, am I?" Wu Di brimmed with confidence.
"Yikes..." The other two doctors looked at him with disdain.
Meanwhile, Fu Tinghua kept holding Su He’s hand while returning their trays and walked out of the hospital cafeteria.
Along the way, many doctors and nurses greeted them, but Fu Tinghua didn’t loosen his grip.
Su He: ...
When they reached a quiet spot, Su He finally blurted out, "Um, are we going to hold hands the whole time?"
Immediately, she regretted the question—why did I even ask that?
To her surprise, Fu Tinghua just gave a firm 'Mhm.'
Huh?
Huh?
Su He couldn’t follow his logic, but since she had initiated the hand-holding earlier, what could she do now? Just go with it.
The hospital staff dormitory was just over a kilometer away—a short walk.
"Su He," Fu Tinghua suddenly called her name as they walked home.
"What?"
"Thank you for accepting me." He suddenly said randomly.
What?
Su He was totally confused. Since when did she accept him? Wait, had he even pursued her?
"Hold on, let's clear this up first." Su He stopped, digging her heels in on the sidewalk.
"Here?" Fu Tinghua glanced at the bustling street, his ears turning slightly red.
Did Su He want him to confess here?
After all, it was near the hospital, and it was pretty crowded.
"Then let's talk at home." Su He said, grabbed Fu Tinghua's hand and headed home.
Fu Tinghua: ...
Once they got home, Su He immediately asked, "When did you pursue me? I didn't know about this."
The question left Fu Tinghua not knowing what to say.
"I thought... I had made it quite obvious." Fu Tinghua said with a helpless shrug.
