Chapter 441: I Promise, After Seeing Her, I Will Confess
by 范氏女子Chapter 441 I Swear, Once I See Her, I’ll Confess
At the time, he didn’t understand. He assumed Wen Yuru’s silence meant she wasn’t suffering.
But later, he realized it was probably because of her upbringing—she simply couldn’t bring herself to keep badmouthing her mother-in-law.
By the time he realized, it was too late. Wen Yuru no longer wanted to see him.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t even see her, because the Wen family had always sent people to protect her.
It was only then that he realized—without Wen Yuru by his side, he was nothing.
He’d promised that if Wen Yuru was willing to stay with him, he would treat her better than her own family ever did.
But what did he do?
Only after Wen Yuru left him did he finally wake up.
When he was arrested and brought to the police station, a group of officers waited for him.
As he passed by Captain Liu, the captain glanced at Liu Jianjun and said to the officers escorting him, "Bring him over."
Then he walked to the interrogation room.
Although Liu Jianjun was the prime suspect in the murder case, the evidence was thin.
So, an interrogation was necessary, followed by pressing for a confession.
Liu Jianjun’s hands were cuffed, and those interrogating him were Captain Liu and the police chief.
They only started questioning after Song Zhicheng arrived.
"What’s your name?" Captain Liu asked.
"Liu Jianjun."
"Why did you kill someone?" Captain Liu got straight to it.
"What evidence do you have that proves I killed anyone?" Liu Jianjun sneered.
He was remarkably composed—facing the police in the interrogation room, he showed no fear.
"Not you? Then what about your mother?" Captain Liu nearly laughed at his nerve—the guy wasn’t scared at all.
"I don’t know."
Liu Jianjun clearly wasn’t cooperating.
"Liu Jianjun! Take a good look at where you are right now. Think I won’t shoot you right now?" Captain Liu was so furious that he pulled out his gun and shoved it against Liu Jianjun’s forehead.
But there wasn’t a trace of fear in Liu Jianjun’s eyes. He stared straight at Captain Liu and said, "Officer, let’s make a deal. Could you let Su He talk to me? I promise, once I see her, I’ll confess. Have her question me—deal?"
His defiant act made Captain Liu furious.
But they couldn’t kill him outright—they had to confirm he was the murderer before closing the case.
If Liu Jianjun wasn’t the killer, and they let their guard down, another victim could turn up any minute.
"Go call Su He over," Song Zhicheng, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke.
"Yes." Captain Liu glared at Liu Jianjun before walking out of the interrogation room.
"Thank you," Liu Jianjun said sincerely.
Song Zhicheng looked at him, smiling without a word.
Somehow, this guy, though silent, had a much stronger presence than the one who had been shouting at him earlier.
The two sat alone, but Liu Jianjun was the first to feel uncomfortable.
After Liu Jianjun was arrested, Su He and her family still couldn’t get any sleep.
Mainly because they didn’t know if Liu Jianjun had any accomplices, so the family decided to gather in the kitchen, figuring they’d be safer in a group as they waited for the police interrogation results the next day.
But unexpectedly, Su He was called in to the police station.
"I’ll go with you," Fu Tinghua said worriedly.
"No, stay home with the children. They need you here," Su He refused.
"Alright." Fu Tinghua said nothing more and went along with it.
When Su He arrived at the police station, she was taken to the interrogation room.
As soon as the door opened, Captain Liu immediately waved Su He to sit down.
"She’s here. Time to talk." Captain Liu said coldly.
Liu Jianjun stared at Su He’s face before speaking. "Ask me anything."
"Were the two recent high-profile murders of two women in Wencheng committed by you?" Captain Liu asked.
"Yes, I killed them."
Surprisingly, Liu Jianjun just came out and admitted it.
"What were the victims’ identities?"
"One—was my biological mother. The other was my mother’s younger sister, my aunt."
Liu Jianjun’s answer was even more explosive.
Unbelievable—he’d killed his own flesh and blood.
"You monster!" Captain Liu cursed in anger.
At that moment, he wished he could put a bullet in the bastard right then and there.
"Captain Liu, keep your emotions out of interrogations. Do I need to remind you?" Song Zhicheng suddenly interjected.
"Right, my bad," Captain Liu quickly apologized, took a breath, and pushed on.
"Why did you kill them?"
Liu Jianjun let out a sudden laugh at that.
"Why? Because they destroyed me."
"That’s bullshit! From what I know, your father died when you were young, and your mother slaved to raise you. According to your neighbors, you did well for yourself—married rich, climbed the ranks in the military. So why the hell would you kill your own mother?" Captain Liu kept pushing.
Liu Jianjun gave a bitter smile and said, "Yes, she worked hard to raise me, and because I knew that, I was filial to a fault.
From childhood, whenever she got angry, she would strip me naked and beat me with a switch, saying I wasn't measuring up.
Every time my grades improved, she would put me down, claiming it was only because others had done worse that my ranking went up.
In front of the neighbors, I was always just her trophy to show off.
Even the wife I married she nearly killed.
I lived under my mother's thumb for years. I was terrified of her, so I instinctively obeyed whatever she said.
But my wife was innocent—she was truly the kindest soul I ever knew.
In all the years she was married to me, she never once said a bad word about my mother.
Yet my mother constantly slandered her in front of me, even calling her loose and saying she preferred her wealthy friends.
My jealousy grew, and I began to resent her more and more under my mother's influence, making her life after marriage pure hell.
Later, my wife was nearly killed, along with our unborn child. That was when I came to my senses, but she divorced me.
I thought she was just angry for a while and would come back eventually.
But she left decisively, and her family withdrew all the resources they had once favored me with. Overnight, I couldn’t even stay in the military.
I struggled during that time and even got into fights out of impulse, which led to the military sending me home on leave.
After that—my mother, who had grown accustomed to a life of luxury after my wife left with her dowry, couldn’t stand living in hardship with a nobody like me.
She demanded I buy her the same things my wife used to get for her, but I had no idea what those things even were."
