Chapter 91: Transformation-Level Beauty
by 范氏女子Chapter 91: A Stunning Transformation
Su He also dressed Zai Zai in a nice shirt, which, paired with his calm and collected air, made him look like a little young master.
Seeing Su He still in her pajamas, Niu Niu asked, "Mommy pinkie-promised Niu Niu a dress!"
This kid really won’t let this go.
"Mommy’s got stuff to do," Su He replied with a smile. "I’ll change into the dress when we’re ready to leave."
While Niu Niu was eating her bun, Su He sat beside her and put her hair in a cute braid. Paired with the dress, she really did look like a little princess.
After the two kids finished breakfast, Su He took care of all the odds and ends at home before finally going into the room to change into a dress.
The dress Su He chose was cut to flatter her figure. The neckline and chest area were trimmed with white lace, while the skirt itself was made of black polka-dotted chiffon fabric.
The dress looked to be of excellent quality, making her skin glow and her figure appear even more graceful.
"Wow! Mommy so pretty!" Niu Niu exclaimed dramatically as she saw Su He in the beautiful dress.
As for Zai Zai, he was totally speechless.
Su He braided her hair into two pigtails, making her look even more youthful. Pigtails were all the rage at the time.
Though she was already married with children, Su He was only 21.
With this styling, you’d never guess she had two kids—she looked more like a college student from the city.
"Let’s go catch the bus, or we might miss it."
Grasping both kids’ hands, Su He walked toward the village entrance.
There was a shortcut from their house that led to the main road, but the bus didn’t stop there, so they still had to go to the village entrance to catch it.
By the time they left the house, it was already past eight. Most folks were already off to the fields or construction sites, but when they saw Su He and her two children, they stopped dead in their tracks.
There was no particular reason—the three of them were just that striking.
Under Su He’s tender care, Zai Zai and Niu Niu had blossomed into real lookers, something the villagers already knew.
But this was the first time Su He had dolled up in public.
Though she lived in the village, she hardly ever mingled with the other villagers, so many hadn’t seen her in days.
Today, with her new look, some even did a double-take before recognizing her.
It was only after spotting Zai Zai and Niu Niu beside her that the villagers confirmed it was indeed Su He.
"Whoa, *this* is Ting Hua’s wife?!"
"That’s her!"
"Whoa, Ting Hua’s wife is this pretty?"
"That can’t be Ting Hua’s wife—I remember her being chubby."
"Oh, you’re behind the times. She’s already slimmed down."
"That’s her! That’s her!"
Just then, someone called out to Su He.
Su He turned and recognized the person—it was Aunt Liu, who had previously complained to Fu Tinghua about her not greeting her.
"Oh, Auntie," Su He immediately stopped and greeted her.
"Where are you off to, dressed so nicely?" Aunt Liu asked, gossiping.
Dressed so beautifully, she must be going to flirt with other men, right? The thought of juicy drama thrilled Aunt Liu.
Su He rolled her eyes inwardly but smiled and replied, "Not at all! I’m going into town to see Tinghua. He’s been asking me to visit him there."
After speaking, she even added a shy smile.
Oh, so that’s how it is.
No drama to enjoy—Aunt Liu couldn’t be bothered to chat more.
Passing by the Fu household, Su He stopped to greet Wu Yanhua and explained she was going into town to see Fu Tinghua.
Most of the Fu family had already left for work, leaving only Wu Yanhua and her third daughter-in-law, Chen Sufen, at home.
Seeing Su He’s pretty, refined features, Wu Yanhua was delighted.
Her youngest daughter-in-law had successfully lost weight and looked so beautiful now. She couldn’t wait to see who would dare say her son had married someone unworthy.
"Be careful on your trip," Wu Yanhua said with a smile.
Once so hung up on looks, Wu Yanhua had been dissatisfied with Su He’s appearance. But now that Su He was not just beautiful but also poised, she found herself liking her more and more.
"Sister-in-law, you’re so pretty," Chen Sufen added, staring enviously at Su He’s face.
"You’re lovely too, sister-in-law. It’s all about how you dress—if you dressed up, you could look just as lovely."
Honestly, the wives Fu Tinghua’s three older brothers had married were all quite attractive, thanks to Wu Yanhua’s influence—she wouldn’t let her sons marry anyone plain.
"Ah, but I’m always out working in the fields. Wearing nice clothes would ruin them," Chen Sufen replied with a laugh.
Su He simply smiled and let it drop.
In this era, rural women were too busy scraping by to bother with dressing up.
But Su He was originally from the city. She dressed well and didn’t do farm work, yet none of the other Fu daughters-in-law felt jealous.
After all, her father was a schoolteacher, and he had even paid for her brother-in-law’s schooling. Who would dare badmouth Su He?
After chatting a bit longer with Wu Yanhua and Chen Sufen, Su He finally reached the bus stop.
Seeing a few others also waiting to go into town, Su He relaxed a little.
The city-bound bus didn’t always run on time—sometimes it arrived a little earlier than its scheduled 9 a.m. pickup.
After about ten minutes, the bus arrived, and Su He and the two children boarded smoothly.
The driver charged half-price for the kids, but Su He held Niu Niu in her lap while letting Zai Zai have his own seat.
The journey was smooth, though the two children got carsick and nodded off soon after getting on.
By the time they reached the city bus station, the kids were still dazed.
As the bus entered the city and skyscrapers began to appear, Su He gently woke the two children.
"Zai Zai, Niu Niu, wake up. We're in the city now. Want to see Daddy?"
Zai Zai drowsily opened his eyes and, upon seeing the scenery outside the window, exclaimed, "Mom, we're in the city!"
By then, Niu Niu had also woken up. Her motion sickness was worse than Zai Zai's, so she remained silent.
Su He carried Niu Niu as they got off the bus, since the little girl was still queasy from the trip.
After a moment's thought, she decided to catch a pedicab to the hospital to find Fu Tinghua.
At the time, she had forgotten to ask where Fu Tinghua's assigned housing was now—even if she had asked, she wouldn't have been able to find it.
But then, the second she stepped off the bus, she immediately spotted the strikingly handsome man standing not far away, looking like a painting—completely out of place.
The man was dressed in his usual work attire—a shirt and trousers—and had likely spotted the bus from Shangyao Village long before. The moment Su He appeared, their eyes met instantly.
