Chapter 218: It’s Our Hospital Clinging to Him
by 范氏女子Chapter 218: It's Our Hospital That Needs Him
"Wait forever? No, Dad, can't you help your own daughter? You're the dean—pull some strings or dangle an incentive to make Dr. Fu divorce and marry me, can't you?"
Qin Meixuan finally blurted out the resentment she’d bottled up for the past two years to her father.
She had long wanted to say it. Her father was the dean, after all. Back then, Fu Tinghua was just an ordinary doctor. For the sake of promotion, she was sure he’d cave to temptation.
But at the time, her pride in her pedigree and accomplishments made her scorn such schemes.
Moreover, hearing that Fu Tinghua's wife was plain and frumpy, she was convinced he had married out of obligation and would eventually divorce.
All she had to do was wait for the right moment, and then she could swoop in and claim Fu Tinghua.
Besides, they worked in the same hospital. After spending so much time together, she believed Fu Tinghua would genuinely fall for her.
But it never happened. Before Fu Tinghua applied to serve as a military doctor on the border, he was buried in work and had no time to notice her.
And when he returned, he and his wife suddenly got so close? It left Qin Meixuan utterly fuming now.
She wondered if her pride had caused her to blow every chance to be with the man she loved.
Seeing how the doctors and nurses in the hospital put Fu Tinghua on a pedestal, especially after yesterday, Qin Meixuan's competitive streak only sharpened her obsession.
If he was the prize everyone chased, she had to have him.
Besides, Fu Tinghua was already a deputy director so young—his future achievements were unimaginable.
That man was meant to be hers.
That uneducated nobody—how could she compare to Qin Meixuan? What right did she have to be Fu Tinghua's wife?
Hearing his daughter's delusional words, Dean Qin snapped out of his shock.
He knew his daughter admired Fu Tinghua deeply and had whined about it endlessly, to his face and behind his back, about why he hadn’t insisted on introducing Fu Tinghua to her earlier.
But he never imagined that, even after Fu Tinghua had been married for so long, his daughter was still hung up on him.
No wonder she shot down every match he proposed.
"Qin Meixuan! Is this how I raised you? Chasing after a taken man? Even thinking of using power to bully others?" Dean Qin scolded her sternly.
"What's wrong with that? I love him, and I won’t marry anyone else!" Qin Meixuan said stubbornly.
"Then let me spell it out for you today. The current situation isn’t Fu Tinghua clinging to our hospital—it’s our hospital clinging to him.
Do you know how many hospitals are trying to headhunt him? Do you know the pressure I’m under right now?
Hospitals in the capital have been trying to transfer Fu Tinghua there. If his roots weren’t here and his unwillingness to leave, he would’ve been long gone from our hospital.
I advise you to cut this out right now, and don’t let Fu Tinghua’s wife find out.
If she persuades him to leave our hospital because of this, you’ll wish you’d never been born!"
After saying this, Dean Qin turned and stormed upstairs, slamming the door behind him.
He was furious. The mayor had just recently mentioned wanting an introduction to meet Fu Tinghua.
And now his daughter wanted him to pressure Fu Tinghua into a divorce? Unbelievable!
If Fu Tinghua were forced to resign by then, he'd be the one to suffer.
Qin Meixuan was livid after her father turned her down!
How could her dad be like this, not even backing her up?
Su He had no idea someone was so obsessed with her husband.
Of course, even if she knew, she wouldn’t give a damn.
Fu Tinghua was firmly under her thumb now—he wouldn’t dare cheat. She’d knock his block off.
He had stolen her heart, and she had no intention of letting him get off easy.
They would either stay together for life or cut ties for good.
But she believed that with Dr. Fu’s character, he wasn’t the type to cheat.
If he were going to cheat, he would have done so long ago, back when the original host was acting all crazy.
Su Shiming showed up at the shop to take over a little past three and even mentioned that her mother, Wen Qing, was touched to hear that Su He still cared about her and had packed meals for him.
"Your mother... she’s followed me all her life but never had it easy," Su Shiming couldn’t help but sigh.
"Don’t worry, Dad. From now on, you’ll both have it good—I promise," Su He said with a smile.
Su Shiming was moved. Whether her words would come true or not, her sincerity was enough.
As Fu Tinghua was about to finish work, someone knocked on his office door.
"Come in," he said without glancing up, assuming it was a doctor coming to report on a patient.
But hearing the steady, unhurried footsteps, he couldn’t help but look up to see who it was.
Qin Meixuan blushed slightly. The moment she saw Fu Tinghua, she couldn’t help feeling shy.
Guess this is what it’s like to see someone you liked.
She had only ever experienced this with Fu Tinghua. Around other men, she was always cold and standoffish.
But in front of this man, she was too shy to look him in the eye.
"Dr. Fu," Qin Meixuan greeted with a smile.
Fu Tinghua gave a noncommittal "Hmm," then asked, "Something you need?"
His voice was icy and detached.
Was this how he sounded when speaking to his wife?
Qin Meixuan drifted off for a moment.
"No big deal. Everyone’s been talking about how you pulled off that miracle yesterday, saving that critical patient. I just... wanted to congratulate you."
Before, she and Fu Tinghua had been on okay terms, as he often went to the cafeteria with Wu Di and Yao Wentao.
And since both of them were single and somewhat interested in her, Qin Meixuan had them wrapped around her finger.
So although she and Fu Tinghua had no private interactions, it still gave the appearance of a friendly relationship.
Fu Tinghua heard her words and gave a slight nod, then said, "Thank you."
After saying this, he lowered his head again to continue reviewing the medical records in his hands, and the office fell into silence.
Qin Meixuan, ignored, was struggling to keep her expression neutral.
Sensing that Qin Meixuan was still standing in front of him, lingering, Fu Tinghua looked up again and asked, "Is there anything else, Dr. Qin?"
Qin Meixuan gave an awkward smile and replied, "N-no, nothing. I’ll—I’ll just go then."
"Alright." Fu Tinghua nodded and went right back to scribbling in his notes.
Qin Meixuan walked reluctantly to the door. She placed her hand on the doorknob, then, as if working up her nerve, turned back and approached Fu Tinghua once more.
