Chapter 304: Stamp What You Love
by 范氏女子Chapter 304: If You Like It, Mark It as Yours
Somehow, Su He could see a face full of annoyance on a child's expression—like the exasperation emoji with sweat drops.
Indeed, Zai Zai had that exact look, shooting an impatient glance at the wailing little girl in front of him.
Su He: "..."
Was her son turning into a little heartbreaker?
"Hey, don’t cry, alright? If he doesn’t want to play with you, why don’t you go find other kids to play with?"
Of course, Su He wouldn’t force her son to play with this little girl.
The girl was clearly being unreasonable.
Su He, who always stood up for her son, would never pressure Zai Zai.
Sure enough, the girl blurted out, "No! I only want to play with him. He’s cute!"
Su He: "..."
Another kid hung up on looks?
Seriously, whose kid was this anyway? How could she cry for so long without any adult stepping in?
Zai Zai shot the annoying girl a glare, then turned and walked away.
Seeing this, the girl dabbed her tears and trailed after him.
Su He: "..."
"Stop following me," Zai Zai said flatly.
Hearing Zai Zai scold her, the little girl’s lip quivered again.
Witnessing this, Su He quickly pulled Niu Niu over and asked her to play with the upset girl.
Niu Niu, being a total mommy’s girl, would do exactly as her mother said.
So she approached the crying girl and said, "Miss, if my brother won’t play with you, I’ll play with you, okay?"
Su He: "..." Her Niu Niu really knew how to twist the knife.
But the little girl wasn’t budging. She shook off Niu Niu’s hand and insisted, "No! I only want to play with him!"
What a bossy little thing—clearly spoiled rotten.
Come to think of it, Su He had seen most kids around the village at some point.
But this girl? She didn’t ring a bell at all.
Only now did Su He notice the girl’s clothes.
Unlike the other village children, who wore hand-me-downs from older siblings, this girl’s outfit was fancy and stylish for the era.
No question about it—she was clearly the apple of someone’s eye.
"Who’s your family?" Su He couldn't help but ask the kid.
To her surprise, the kid replied with unexpected maturity, "Mom says not to talk about our family with strangers."
Su He was speechless.
"Are you from our village?" Su He tried another approach.
"No, I just came with my grandma to visit my uncle's house," the kid shook her head and answered.
Oh, that explains why I don’t recognize her at all.
"Alright, sweetie, did you tell your family before coming here? They might be worried about you."
Only then did Su He realize that a kid this spoiled couldn’t possibly be wandering around without supervision.
"No, but I told them I was going to play with the cute little brother," the girl said matter-of-factly.
"Where is your home? Wait—where is your uncle’s house? I’ll take you to your grandma." Her grandma’s probably freaking out by now.
The kid hesitated for a moment before suddenly asked, "Auntie, can you let the little brother let me kiss him? Just one!"
Su He never imagined she’d be rendered speechless by a kid.
No wonder Zai Zai had been so resistant to the girl earlier—she must have tried to kiss him before and failed.
"Sorry, honey. You can’t force others to do things like that," Su He patiently explained.
"Why not? I really like him! Mommy said if you like something, you should claim it as yours. I want to mark the little brother!" The girl said it like it was totally normal, completely oblivious to how domineering she sounded.
Su He was exasperated. What kind of parenting was this? Who taught their child such things?
"First, even if you like someone, they have to like you back. Second, your little brother is a person, not an object. You can’t just 'mark' him."
If the kid weren’t so young, Su He would’ve given her a light smack.
Too young to be learning such bad habits—being a little troublemaker.
"I..." The kid looked crestfallen, unsure how to respond.
This lady seemed nice, but when she spoke seriously, it was a little intimidating.
"Xiao Ling, what are you doing here? Your grandma’s been looking everywhere for you!" A voice suddenly called out to them.
A woman dressed to the nines walked up to the kid, her expression stern.
She wore a black trench coat, paired with jeans, and her hair was styled in big, bouncy curls.
Her outfit was way ahead of the fashion curve for the time.
Even after living in the city for so long, Su He had never seen anyone more stylish than this woman.
"Auntie," the kid whined.
"Oh NOW you remember I’m your aunt? Do you even know where this is? If someone snatches you up and sells you off, that’s on you." The woman scolded harshly.
"You’re the worst, Auntie!" the kid pouted unhappily.
Just then, Fu Tinghua, after waiting forever for Su He to return, finally came out to look for her.
"Su He." The moment he spotted her, he couldn't resist calling her name.
Hearing this, the stylish woman turned toward the sound.
When she saw Fu Tinghua, her face lit up.
Su He, of course, couldn’t be bothered with this stranger. Smiling, she walked over to Fu Tinghua and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. You were gone too long—just wanted to see what was up." Fu Tinghua frowned slightly.
"Oh, it's nothing. Anyway, the kid’s family showed up, so we don't need to worry anymore." Su He finished speaking and glanced toward the fashionable woman.
The woman shot Su He a dismissive glance before immediately pulling the little girl away.
"Auntie, I wanna keep playing with them!" Xiao Ling, the little girl, protested, trying to break free from the woman's grip.
"You asking for a spanking?" the woman snapped.
"No! You're the worst, Auntie!" Xiao Ling grumbled.
The woman ignored her and yanked Xiao Ling along.
Su He tsked, shaking her head at the scene.
Whether this city woman looked down on country people or not, she seemed to maintain an air of arrogance toward them from start to finish.
Su He picked up on it and didn’t even try talking to her.
