Chapter 131 Avenging My Sister
by 范氏女子**Chapter 131: Avenging Her Sister**
"Aunt Niu, they’re not here to start trouble, are they?" Aunt Niu quickly stepped beside Su He and asked.
Seeing the hulking, mean-looking guys, the customers who had been about to buy fried buns from Su He’s stall immediately backed away quickly, too scared to stick around.
Noticing this, Su He looked up and saw about five burly young men approaching her stall. They soon stood right in front of it.
The leader's face twisted with anger, but when he got a clear look at Su He, his eyes gleamed.
Who would have thought this country girl running a food stall would be so pretty?
But no matter how bold he was, he wouldn’t dare mess with Su He in broad daylight.
Too many people were watching, and the cops were cracking down hard these days.
So he took his anger out on the woman behind Su He. "Fu Yanju!" he bellowed.
Hearing his voice, Fu Yanju flinched.
Realizing what was happening, she shot up from the stool and hid behind Su He.
This was her knee-jerk reaction when frightened—she had truly been terrified of his beatings.
Wu Yanhua, having only one daughter, spoiled her rotten growing up.
In the Fu family, men and women were treated equally, and Fu Yanju’s brothers always looked after their only sister.
Who could have imagined that after marriage, she’d encounter life’s cruel side and get a brutal wake-up call?
She hadn’t inherited her mother’s good judge of character, lacking the ability to tell a decent man from a bad one.
Now she kicked herself. Back then… back then she had been pregnant six months ago, but Chen Zhijie, that monster, beat her until she miscarried.
Fu Yanju and Chen Zhijie currently had only one daughter. Over the years, Chen Zhijie constantly used the excuse of not having a son to start shit with her.
After getting hooked on gambling, he began hitting her.
Her in-laws egged him on, with no one standing up for her.
Every time she returned home, afraid of worrying her parents, she only put on a brave face.
Speaking up would just make things worse—she had chosen this path, and she had to endure it, no matter how painful.
In this era, divorce was barely even a thing.
Especially for a woman—divorcing would be a disgrace not just to her, but to her entire family.
So Fu Yanju had never dared to speak of it.
But now, if she didn’t, she feared she would be beaten to death.
Recently, Chen Zhijie’s violence had grown increasingly brutal. Fu Yanju was convinced he really wanted her dead.
"Who the hell do you think you’re yelling at?" Su He shielded Fu Yanju and asked coldly.
"Hey, brat, this is my family matter. You're getting involved where you shouldn't," Chen Zhijie gave Su He a disgusting once-over.
"Am I? She's my sister. If I don't stand up for her, who will?"
Chen Zhijie stared at Su He and suddenly burst into laughter.
"Oh, Fu Yanju, you’ve got some nerve, huh? Picked up a sister that fast? Get your ass back home now."
After saying that, he pointed at Fu Yanju in the crowd and laughed, "This woman is my wife. She’s not right in the head, so I’m here to take her home."
Hearing his words, most of the onlookers actually believed him.
Fu Yanju did seem off—trembling, clothes torn, face hidden behind Su He, though her messy hair was clearly visible.
If Fu Yanju had sought help from a stranger today, that person would’ve probably let them take her.
Nobody wants to deal with a crazy person’s drama.
Su He realized this too, her face hardened. This Chen Zhijie was too cunning—no wonder Fu Yanju could never escape.
"She is my sister. Cut the crap—she’s perfectly sane. The problem is you, you disgusting criminal. What kind of coward hits a woman?" Su He retorted coldly.
Hearing Su He insult him like that, Chen Zhijie snapped.
"Little brat, what the hell are you saying? Want me to slap you into next week?" he snarled in a low, threatening voice.
"Go ahead. Let’s see how you’ll make me ‘lose my way.’ Or maybe I’ll beat you so badly even your own mother won’t recognize you," Su He shot back in a low voice.
Chen Zhijie wasn’t stupid—and neither was she.
She wasn’t about to let the crowd peg her as the troublemaker. If a fight broke out and the cops showed up, she couldn’t afford to be blamed. Cops would grill witnesses for sure—with so many people watching.
"You—!"
Chen Zhijie, provoked, raised his hand and swung at Su He’s face.
The onlookers froze. The street was loud, and Su He and Chen Zhijie had been whispering—how’d it come to blows so fast?
Hope the pretty baker doesn’t get her face messed up.
But just as Chen Zhijie’s palm was about to strike, Su He caught his wrist.
With a sharp wrench—*crack*—the snap of bone rang out through the street.
"Ah—!" Chen Zhijie howled.
"What kind of man fights with slaps? Pathetic little coward. Let me teach you how to throw a punch."
Su He then drove her fist straight into Chen Zhijie’s face.
She moved too quick—the other men who had come with him, lurking nearby and watching the show, figured two women wouldn’t put up a fight. They could’ve dragged them both away without much effort.
But before they knew what hit him, Su He’s punch sent Chen Zhijie sprawling on the ground. Before he could even blink, she drove her foot into his gut.

Seeing Chen Zhijie clutching his stomach in pain, the other men finally realized that Su He had martial arts training.
"You dare hit my brother?! Get her!" A man who looked strikingly like Chen Zhijie shouted, motioning for others to surround Su He.
Aunt Niu took this chance to quietly move the items from Su He’s stall out of harm’s way.
There were burning coals and hot oil nearby—who knew if these vicious dogs might come to their senses and use the oil to splash Su He?
She knew Su He was a fighter, but if she were hit with scalding oil, the consequences would be horrifying.
Meanwhile, Su He was now surrounded by several hulking men, yet she didn’t seem the least bit frightened.
Fu Yanju had been frozen in shock after seeing Su He knock Chen Zhijie down earlier.
Now, watching Su He encircled by the Chen family’s young, strong men, she felt panicked.
"Wait, Miss Su!" she cried, rushing forward.
"Stay back!"
With that shout, Su He threw the first punch and launched into battle.
