Chapter 134 Already Honest, Please Let Go
by 范氏女子Chapter 134: I’ve Learned My Lesson, Please Spare Me
Hearing the familiar voice, Su He automatically looked toward the door.
Three men stood outside, but her eyes locked instantly on the one with an upright posture and unbelievably good-looking face.
His brows were furrowed, a light sweat beading his forehead—he had clearly rushed over.
His gaze settled on Su He, and only when he saw she was unharmed did Fu Tinghua finally relax.
Hurrying over to her side, he took her hand and murmured, "You okay?"
Su He froze briefly, confused as to why Fu Tinghua was here.
Civilians weren’t supposed to enter an interrogation room.
But someone please explain—why did this man still look hot even when pissed?
Su He, rarely one to swoon, felt her cheeks heat up.
It couldn’t be helped—there were plenty of men in the room right now, but her husband’s face was in a league of its own—no contest.
"Cat got your tongue? Scared?"
When Su He didn’t respond, Fu Tinghua cupped her face worriedly, fearing she’d been frightened or hurt at the station.
Only then did Su He come back to herself, replying awkwardly, "I’m fine, don’t worry."
With so many watching, she felt uneasy.
Remembering the situation, she quickly asked, "Why are you here?"
Before Fu Tinghua could answer, Director Ma barked,
"Who do you think you are? What the hell do you think you’re doing barging in here? Guards! Arrest them!"
"Wow, Director Ma," one of the men beside Fu Tinghua said with a smirk, "big talk."
"And who are you?" Ma scoffed.
Without a word, the man flipped open his badge.
"Prosecutor… Prosecutor’s Office…"
The words made Ma’s blood run cold.
"Oh! From the Prosecutor’s Office, huh? We’re all brothers in justice, haha. Why didn’t you say something earlier? Drinks would’ve been on me!"
Just moments ago he’d ordered their arrest—now he was calling them “brothers”?
At this point, Xia Chengan—who had been watching with amusement—spoke up.
He was the same Xia heir Fu Tinghua had once dragged along as an unlucky chauffeur.
"If we’d announced ourselves earlier, how would we have seen such a great power trip? Right?"
Ma squinted at him, vaguely recognizing the face.
Xia Chengan coolly pulled out his badge and handed it over.
He was the head of the city police force's economic crime investigation unit, and his rank was significantly higher than Director Ma's by a wide margin.
Director Ma was so frightened he almost fell to his knees.
These two men had appeared out of the blue—could they be here to investigate him?
As it turned out, no. Their arrival today was just a coincidence.
Fu Tinghua had originally intended to borrow Xia Chengan's car to return to the countryside, but after Xia Chengan tasted Su He's cooking last time and couldn't stop thinking about it, he insisted on coming along.
Coincidentally, their other friend, Qi Yunyang, the deputy director of the procuratorate's investigation and supervision department, was also present.
Seeing how eager Xia Chengan was to visit Fu Tinghua's hometown, he decided to join in on the fun as well.
And so, the three of them set off in two cars, making quite a scene.
Fu Tinghua wasn’t working that Friday, having swapped his shift instead.
He and his friends didn’t leave until after eight in the morning, but as they neared home, they happened to run into Aunt Niu.
Fu Tinghua knew that Su He often went to the town market with Aunt Niu to sell goods, and after calculating the dates, he realized today must be market day in town.
Unsure whether Su He was at home or in town, he stopped the car to ask Aunt Niu.
When Aunt Niu saw Fu Tinghua, she was overjoyed—what a stroke of luck to run into Miss Su’s husband right there on the road!
She immediately told Fu Tinghua about how Su He had gotten into a scuffle and was taken away by the police.
She also voiced her suspicion that the woman being chased and beaten by a man might be Fu Tinghua’s sister, Fu Yanju.
After hearing this, Fu Tinghua's face went dark.
He sped down the country backroads in Xia Chengan’s car like a daredevil driver.
It was Aunt Niu’s first time riding in a car, but before she could even feel excited, she was terrified by Fu Tinghua’s reckless driving.
Xia Chengan and Qi Yunyang had also caught every word and understood that Fu Tinghua’s family must be in trouble.
Fu Tinghua was usually a straight arrow, but plenty of big shots he had helped in the past wanted to repay him with gifts or favors—he just never accepted them.
Yet in this small town of Xinxu, someone actually dared to provoke their Dr. Fu.
Never mind how close Xia Chengan and Qi Yunyang were to Fu Tinghua.
Back when Dr. Fu served as a military doctor, everyone held him in high regard.
Though his rank at the time wasn’t particularly high, his surgical skills were among the best in the country.
With just one call from Dr. Fu, plenty of people would be willing to do him a favor.
"I’d like to know exactly what crime my wife has committed to warrant being hauled into an interrogation room," Fu Tinghua asked coldly, gripping Su He’s hand tightly in his own.
If he hadn’t returned early today, who knows what kind of rough treatment Su He might have endured?
Though Fu Tinghua hadn’t flashed his badge, the fact that he was keeping company with the other two men suggested his status was no less impressive.
So Director Ma didn’t dare cut corners in the slightest.
This time, he had truly tried to go for wool and come home shorn—who would’ve thought this country girl had such powerful connections?
A street vendor selling pancakes turns out to be married to someone with serious connections.
You should’ve told me sooner! With pull like that, why even bother setting up a stall?
This Chen family has really screwed him over good this time.
Director Ma's in deep shit. In rural towns, looking the other way is standard practice, but this time he messed with the wrong people.
"No offense meant, none at all! It’s those Chen family members who are at fault. I’ll drag them here to apologize to your wife immediately," Director Ma hurriedly said.
"Ting Hua, it’s Fourth Sister. They’ve been beating her and keeping her locked up all this time.
She finally managed to escape and find me, but the Chen family tried to drag her back.
I... I ended up fighting them. Who knew cops would be covering for the Chens?"
After speaking, Su He turned her gaze to Director Ma and the junior officer who had interrogated her.
The junior officer had been frozen in terror ever since Fu Tinghua’s two friends revealed their credentials.
It’s over. Everything’s ruined now!
They fucked with the wrong guy.
When the director asked who wanted to handle this case, he jumped at it to score points.
Who could’ve predicted it would end like this?
"Where is my sister?" Fu Tinghua asked, looking at Director Ma.
