Chapter 104 Don’t Worry, I’m Still Behind You

After returning home, Su He put the two kids down for a nap.
When she woke up in the afternoon, Fu Tinghua was already gone—she didn’t know when he’d left.
At noon, Dr. Fu hadn’t slept at all.
But knowing he had work in the afternoon, he tried to rest.
His wife was sleeping next door, and the thought of Su He holding his hand that morning made his pulse race.
When it was almost time, he slipped into the next room to glance at Su He and the kids, only leaving after seeing them fast asleep.
"Mom, mom, are we not going back to the countryside?" Niu Niu sat up excitedly on the bed after waking up.
"How about you guys? Do you want to stay in the countryside or the city?" Su He felt their opinions were her priority.
Right now, she wasn’t working steadily, and with the kids still so young and dependent on her, her main focus was taking care of them.
So if they really wanted to stay in the city, she could live there with Fu Tinghua.
"Wherever Mom is, I’ll be there," Niu Niu, her little snugglebug, answered.
Her heart melted as she said, "Alright, let’s stay in the countryside a little longer, okay?"
She still needed to plan for the future.
Just selling durians wasn’t gonna cut it. At this point, Su He wasn’t even sure if her durian business could keep them afloat.
Actually, she preferred opening a shop in the city, stocking goods from her inventory space, and selling them in reality.
But the sketchy paper trail worried her—what if someone noticed?
So she wanted to find a supplier, order some goods from them, and sneak in items from her space to stay safe.
What should she sell? Household goods? But those items had expiration dates, and she wasn’t sure if the space could provide products matching this era’s standards.
Turning this over in her mind, Su He entered the space while the kids played with mud in the yard and asked about it.
After hearing her question, the customer service representative politely replied, "Regarding your concern, our system had a fix for this ages ago.
If you want food products from your era with verified expiration dates and ingredient safety, you’ll need to place orders in advance.
Then, hosts from other parallel timelines will fill your orders based on your needs, and our material exchange system will handle the swap."
"Won’t it raise red flags?" Su He asked uncertainly.
"Our system guarantees confidentiality. So far, no host from any parallel world has reported their goods raising red flags in their own world."
Su He: ...
Fingers crossed she wouldn’t break that streak.
But opportunities always came with risks. If she had solid paperwork, who would bother investigating her?
Even if her food products were tested, they’d check out clean—so what was there to fear?
With that realization, the frown on Su He’s face finally eased.
Hmm, tonight I should discuss my plans with Fu Tinghua. I want to rent a shopfront and open a small supermarket first. As for the durians, I could sell them directly in the supermarket later, sparing myself the backbreaking work of setting up a stall in the wet market.
Right now, the country is strongly promoting individual entrepreneurship among the people, but most still think working in large factories or securing a government job is the best option.
So, those who went into business for themselves were usually those who had no connections to get into factories and had no choice but to find their own ways to make money.
Yet, the first group to get rich were these very self-employed individuals.
At this point, hardly anyone had started private businesses yet.
I've roughly outlined my own plan in my mind—all that's left is putting it into action and making contacts.
I need to find a supplier who can provide me with goods.
In the afternoon, I took the two kids to the wet market to buy some meat and vegetables before starting to prepare dinner.
After moving to the city, tofu became available, so I fried up some homemade tofu for the kids.
Back in the countryside, few people had the time to make tofu from scratch.
When the sizzling golden tofu was ready, the kids were bouncing with excitement.
Mom had whipped up something new for them to eat—how wonderful!
By the time Fu Tinghua returned home, dinner was just about ready.
Seeing our once-lifeless home now filled with the smell of home cooking because of his wife and children, Fu Tinghua felt nothing but happiness and contentment. His desire to keep his wife here grew even stronger.
So, during dinner, he straight-up asked me, “Why don't you stay here with me this week instead of going back to the countryside?”
I wasn’t expecting him to ask me to stay outright. After hesitating for a moment, I replied, “Not this week. Do you remember that little boy, Ji Liangchuan, who was at our house last time you visited the village?”
Of course, Fu Tinghua remembered him. Back then, it was because of his presence that Fu Tinghua had suggested I sleep in the same room as him.
“Hmm, he asked if he could come stay next week and spend some time with us. I still owe his grandma big time, so I can’t break the promise.”
“What favor?” Fu Tinghua frowned.
“Last time when we set up a stall in town to sell food, someone saw my pancakes were selling well and muscled in on my pitch. After copying my recipe, they even sent people to drive away my customers.
Though I managed to get the police to arrest those troublemakers, Liangchuan’s grandmother later heard about it and used her connections to put them in their place.
So yeah, it’s a big favor.”
Fu Tinghua wasn’t expecting me to face such risks just by selling food in town. His frown deepened.
After thinking for a while, Fu Tinghua suddenly said, “I have a friend who works at the town’s regulatory office. If anything happens, you can go to him.”
But I didn’t want Fu Tinghua owing favors everywhere, so I shook my head. “Don't bother. I probably won’t be doing business in town much in the future, so don’t worry about it.”
Fu Tinghua's pulse quickened. If not in town, then...
“Are you planning to move to the city?”
Did he really want me to move here that much? I couldn’t help but feel a warmth in my heart. It felt good to be wanted.
“Yes, I’m thinking of setting up shop in the city later.”
Without even asking what kind of business I wanted to start, Fu Tinghua just said, “Good.”
Su He: "......"
Feeling embarrassed about how eagerly he'd shown his hope for her to move to the city, Fu Tinghua said, "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"No, I’ll go look around for a good spot on the street tomorrow morning. I want to rent a shop," Su He replied.
"Alright, I just received a sum of money. You can put all of it toward your business."
Seeing how he was willing to hand over their entire savings to her, Su He was surprised.
But then she remembered that Fu Tinghua had always been like this—even in the past, he gave all his earnings to the body's original occupant.
He had simply been too busy to care for the family before, but he'd never been stingy when it came to family expenses.
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll lose it all?" Su He couldn’t help asking.
"If you lose it, no big deal. If you want to try, go ahead. We can handle the loss. Don’t worry, I’ve got your back," Fu Tinghua said gently, looking at Su He.
