Chapter 153 Dr. Fu, What Are You Saying in Front of the Kids?

When getting out of bed, Su He felt her legs trembling slightly.
Seriously, if she didn’t know better, she’d think Fu Tinghua was an athlete rather than a doctor.
That was too much.
Maybe she’d forgiven him too quickly?
But then again, she had been the one to make the first move...
"What do you think you're doing? Are you uncomfortable? Let me carry you." Standing beside her, Fu Tinghua noticed Su He’s odd look and immediately guessed the reason.
He was a doctor, a surgeon at that, so he naturally knew sex could sometimes cause soreness.
He couldn’t help but feel guilty—he had gone too far last night, completely losing himself in the moment.
He needed to be more careful with her from now on.
Just as he stepped forward to pick her up, Su He pushed him away.
"What do you think you're doing?" she demanded.
"Aren't you uncomfortable? I’ll carry you to the kitchen."
"I'm perfectly fine!" Su He snapped, steeling herself to walk out of the room while putting on a calm front.
It was humiliating enough already—being carried would look even more absurd.
Besides, what if the kids woke up and saw?
Watching Su He’s awkward, stiff-legged walk, Fu Tinghua could only shake his head in resignation.
He followed her to get ready, filling a cup of water for her and loading her toothbrush—he was being impossibly attentive.
Once Su He finished brushing her teeth and was about to go wake Zai Zai and Niu Niu, Fu Tinghua stopped her.
"I'll do it. Just stay put and rest."
With that, he headed toward the children's bedroom.
Watching the tall, straight-backed figure of the man, Su He couldn’t help but smile.
Opening the door to the kids’ room, Fu Tinghua found Zai Zai already out of bed, helping little Niu Niu with her shoes.
"Dada!" Niu Niu exclaimed excitedly when she saw him.
"Oh, you're both up already? Such good kids." Fu Tinghua walked over as he spoke.
He patted his son’s head, then picked up the other shoe to help Niu Niu with.
After scooping Niu Niu up from the bed, he ushered both kids toward the kitchen.
Su He sat by the fireplace, spacing out.
"Mommy!"
Hearing her daughter Niu Niu running toward her excitedly, Su He smiled and said, "Morning, my sweethearts."
"Morning, Mom."
Fu Tinghua scooped up Niu Niu, who was already reaching for her mother, and said to the two kids, "Mom's not feeling great today. If you want a hug, go to Daddy, okay?"
"Okay~" Niu Niu chirped.
"Is Mom sick?" Zai Zai asked with concern.
Su He shot him a look: [...]
Dr. Fu, what are you telling them?
Her cheeks flushed slightly.
"She's not sick, don't worry. She's just under the weather and can't hold you right now. What, you don't want Daddy to hug you?" Fu Tinghua knew exactly how to shift the kids' focus.
"I want Daddy to hold me!" Niu Niu was already reaching for him.
Zai Zai didn’t ask any more questions after that.
Not long after breakfast, Su He said to Fu Tinghua, "There’s a family in the village with a cargo trike that hauls goods for people. Can you go ask if they can help us transport the durians into the city today?"
Fu Tinghua nodded. "I had Dad check yesterday. All set—they’re keeping their trike free for us today."
That was Dr. Fu for you—she’d forgotten something she meant to do yesterday, and he'd already taken care of it.
"Hmm, good."
Looking around at the place where they’d lived for several months, her heart ached at leaving.
"What is it?"
Fu Tinghua never took his eyes off Su He when they were together, so he noticed the change in her expression immediately.
"Just gonna miss this place," she said without thinking.
Hearing her words, Fu Tinghua felt his chest tighten.
Crap, was his wife getting cold feet about moving to the city with him?
After experiencing the comfort of holding her close, there was no way he could go back to his old life—the emptiness of a cold, lonely bed.
Before, he hadn't realized, but now, with his wife and children by his side, his life finally felt whole.
"You can come back anytime you want. Or on weekends—if I’m not on duty, I’ll bring you back," he rushed to say.
Su He let out a snort. "What are you thinking? Once I open my shop in the city, I won’t have time to come back often."
His shoulders relaxed—he wasn’t losing her after all.
"No worries, we'll visit during holidays," he said gently, ruffling her hair.
Since when did she need babying?
They had lunch at Fu’s family home. Both Fu Yanju and Chen Waner were all smiles today.
As soon as she saw Su He, Chen Waner darted over and shyly called out, "Aunt."
"Hey, hello Wan Er." Su He bent down and greeted the poor girl with a smile.
"Sister Wan Er, Mom said you and Auntie are coming with us to the city later to have some fun!" Niu Niu excitedly exclaimed to Chen Wan Er.
She and Zai Zai hardly had any playmates before. Su He never took them out, so they just played by themselves.
When they came to the countryside, they finally got to play with the Fu family's children, but now they were leaving again.
Now Sister Wan Er was going to the city with them, and since they're both girls, Niu Niu was instantly happy.
"I...I'm going to the city too?" This was something her mom hadn't mentioned to her.
Actually, Fu Yanju still thought her brother Fu Tinghua's offer to take her to the city for a complete physical exam was just empty talk.
She didn't take it seriously, so naturally didn't tell her daughter.
Besides, a complete physical exam would cost so much money. Fu Yanju didn't want to trouble Fu Tinghua either.
Moreover, she'd never been to the city and didn't know anyone there - it would just inconvenience her brother and sister-in-law.
From the beginning, Fu Yanju never really planned to go to the city with Fu Tinghua, but just didn't know how to say no at the time.
"Yes, you and your mom are coming to the city with us," Su He added.
She had just discussed with Fu Tinghua and decided to have Fu Yanju and her daughter stay with them in the city temporarily.
Mainly because if they stayed with the Fu family, they might keep facing harassment from the Chen family.
Since she and Chen Zhijie hadn't successfully divorced yet, things were complicated.
Even if the Chen family tried to forcibly take Wan Er back, the Fu family couldn't really stop them.
And even if they tried, they wouldn't have a legal leg to stand on.
Wasn't it only natural for them to take back their own granddaughter?
Even if they went to the police, the officers would just mediate and order the Fu family to let them go - to have Fu Yanju and Chen Waner return to the Chen family, since the divorce wasn't final yet.
