Chapter 502: My Hands—Already Cleaned
by 范氏女子Chapter 502 My Hands—They're Clean Now
Su He was contemplating the possibility of using public opinion when suddenly some noise came from outside.
It turned out that Fu Tinghua had finished the surgery—that was pretty fast.
"I'll go check outside." Su He couldn't stay seated any longer and quickly got up.
"What about us?" Fu Dajun quickly asked.
"You all wait inside for now, don't come out." After saying this, Su He went out.
Fu Tinghua was currently washing blood off his hands. Seeing Su He come out, he immediately washed faster.
"What are you doing out here?" After quickly finishing washing his hands, Fu Tinghua dried them off with a towel before asking.
Su He glanced at the unconscious Gu Yanzhi and asked a little confused, "Did the anesthesia knock him out?"
Fu Tinghua shook his head and replied calmly, "He passed out from the pain."
Su He:...
She totally suspected Fu Tinghua had done it on purpose.
"Let's go, forget about them. We’ll leave the living room to these people. It’s getting late, we should get some rest." After saying this, Fu Tinghua took Su He’s hand to leave.
Just then, the old military doctor stopped Fu Tinghua again.
"Dr. Fu, could you please go check on our Squad Leader Fang?" The Squad Leader Fang he referred to was Fang Zhigang.
Someone had earlier told the old military doctor that Fang Zhigang was unconscious, and the doctor didn’t think it was serious.
But now, seeing that Fang Zhigang was foaming at the mouth, it didn’t look like poisoning or a normal illness.
So, he had to ask Fu Tinghua for help.
Fu Tinghua looked at the old military doctor for a long time before finally bowing to him and saying, "I’m sorry. No matter how compassionate I am as a doctor or how much I believe in turning the other cheek, I cannot bring myself to treat someone who aimed a gun at my mother."
Hearing his words, the old military doctor was left speechless.
Not only speechless, but also ashamed.
"I’m sorry, my family is waiting for me. The surgery was very successful, though I can’t guarantee there will be no aftereffects, but I did my best." Fu Tinghua nodded to the old military doctor, then took Su He’s hand and headed to the fire room.
"My hands—already cleaned." Only after holding Su He’s hand did Fu Tinghua realize she had seen the blood on his hands earlier.
"What are you talking about? It doesn't bother me," Su He said helplessly, then clasped his hand in return.
The two held hands until they reached the fire room door before letting go.
After all, there were many elders present, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for them to see.
As soon as they pushed the door open, before Wu Yanhua could say anything, Aunt Lan rushed forward and hugged Fu Tinghua, anxiously asking, "Did he do anything to you?"
The question left Fu Tinghua momentarily at a loss for how to respond.
"Mom, I was the one operating on him. You should be asking if I did anything to him," Fu Tinghua said, completely exasperated.
"Yes, Mom's being forgetful." Aunt Lan wiped the tears from her face and smiled as she looked at Fu Tinghua.
"Don’t worry, just stay with us. He won’t dare bother you again." Fu Tinghua patted Aunt Lan’s shoulder reassuringly.
"Yes, I’m not worried, really. I’m just afraid of holding us back."
Before she could finish, Su He interrupted her.
"Mom, you overthink things too much—that’s why you’re so weighed down. We’re all family now. There’s no such thing as holding anyone back."
Wu Yanhua jumped in, "Yes, what’s all this talk about holding anyone back?"
Fu Tinghua glanced at everyone in the kitchen and added, "Let’s all go back to sleep. They won’t try anything else."
With Fu Tinghua as their rock, everyone really felt a lot more at ease.
"Are you sure it’s alright?" Fu Dajun stepped forward and asked.
"It’s fine. What’s there to worry about? They’ll probably be staying in the living room tonight. Don’t worry, we can just get some sleep." Fu Tinghua said calmly.
"But how can anyone sleep peacefully like this?" Su Shiming couldn’t help muttering under his breath.
He was closest to the living room, with only a wooden panel separating him from it, so he could hear every little noise outside.
"Oh, just sleep peacefully. Don’t you trust our daughter and son-in-law?" Wen Qing shot him a look.
Su Shiming glanced at his wife and didn’t dare say another word.
Aunt Lan watched them with envy, thinking that this was how a relationship should be. She felt she had wasted half her life living the way she did before.
From the moment they got married, Gu Yanzhi had never once compromised with her.
And whenever she spoke, he never really listened.
