Chapter 322: Venting Emotions

Su He opened her mouth, wanting to call out to Fu Tinghua.
But just as Fu Tinghua lifted his gaze and saw her, his steps—originally heading left—paused, and he turned toward her instead.
As he walked, he pulled down his surgical mask, revealing his exceptionally handsome face.
Su He had always known Fu Tinghua was good-looking, but it wasn’t until today, watching him stride toward her in his surgical gown, that she truly understood why so many women still pursued him even though he was married.
"Why are you here?"
Fu Tinghua stopped in front of Su He and started to reach out to touch her face.
Then he suddenly remembered he had just performed a surgery. Though he had washed and disinfected his hands, the smell of blood likely hadn’t faded yet.
His outstretched hand hesitated before withdrawing.
"I’m all dirty right now. Don’t touch me," Fu Tinghua said with a sigh.
Su He gazed wordlessly at the man before her. Just moments ago, she had been desperate to see him, but now that he was here, she found herself tongue-tied.
"What’s wrong? Were you scared?" Seeing Su He remain silent, Fu Tinghua began to worry.
He bent down slightly, bracing his hands on his knees, and studied her expression.
"What’s the matter? Hmm? Why aren’t you saying anything?"
The moment he finished speaking, Su He collapsed against him and burst into tears.
In that instant, all the fear, panic, regret, and heartache she had been holding back came flooding out.
She wanted to control herself—she didn’t want Fu Tinghua, who had just endured such an exhausting and high-risk surgery, to have to worry about her.
But she couldn’t hold back anymore. From the moment she heard the news, she had prepared herself to say goodbye to Fu Tinghua for the last time.
Now, with him standing there unharmed before her, her emotions overflowed uncontrollably.
And it was in this moment that she realized just how much she loved Fu Tinghua.
She loved him so much she couldn’t bear to be without him.
Once, love had been something optional for her.
But now, she truly couldn’t lose him.
Su He felt that if Fu Tinghua had really died, she would have gone mad.
Seeing Su He this upset for the first time, Fu Tinghua no longer cared about whether his clothes were dirty. He immediately pulled her close.
"What’s wrong? Did you think something had happened to me? I’m fine, really. Completely unharmed," he said softly, gently patting her back.
Though he was anxious inside, he made himself stay calm, comforting and reassuring her.
"It’s okay. Everything’s okay now. Don’t worry. None of what you feared happened. I’m right here, perfectly fine."
Tenderly, Fu Tinghua wiped the tears from Su He’s face—the first time he had ever seen her cry.
These tears were shed for him. From now on, he swore she'd never cry for him again.
Fu Tinghua mused inwardly.
The medical staff inside the operating room, who were finishing up the procedure, began filing out. Chen Mo had already been transferred from the operating room to the ICU for 24-hour observation.
As soon as the other doctors stepped out of the operating room, they saw their usually aloof Deputy Director holding a woman in his arms, and couldn’t help but stare.
However, everyone was discreet enough to look away quickly before immediately leaving the scene, giving the two some space.
Su He only cried for a short while before realizing they were still at the entrance of the operating room, where doctors and nurses frequently passed by. Her mind quickly cleared.
She pulled away from Fu Tinghua’s arms, embarrassed, then glared at him with a pout, whining pitifully, "Dr. Fu, do you have any idea how worried I was about you?"
Heart aching at her pout, Fu Tinghua rushed to apologize, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault for making you worry."
He stepped forward again, tenderly brushing away her tears from Su He's face, his face etched with concern.
"Is that injured doctor going to be okay?"
Su He suddenly remembered the real concern and, pushing her feelings aside, immediately asked about the doctor who had taken the hit for Fu Tinghua.
"He'll be fine. The surgery was very successful. After 24 hours of observation, he can be transferred to a regular ward," Fu Tinghua soothed, ruffling her hair.
With this confirmation, Su He's rigid posture slumped in relief.
"That's such a relief—"
The moment the tension left her, Su He suddenly felt dizzy, and the world spun away.
Before losing consciousness, she felt strong arms catching her as she fell and heard her name being called urgently.
What happened afterward, she had no idea.
The moment Fu Tinghua caught the unconscious Su He, his thoughts short-circuited.
Despite being such an experienced doctor, he lost all professional detachment when the person he loved fainted right in front of him.
"Su He, Su He, wake up," Fu Tinghua shouted, his voice shaking.
His mind was completely empty—his famed composure evaporated in an instant.
"Get a gurney, now!" he shouted at two passing nurses.
Jumping at his bark, the two nurses hurried off to fetch a gurney.
Only then did Fu Tinghua remember they were right outside the operating room—why waste time on a gurney?
Regaining a bit of rationality, he simply scooped Su He into his arms and headed straight into the operating room.
"Forget the gurney, come and help me first," he called out to the two nurses.
Without hesitation, the nurses followed, bracing for an emergency, given the Deputy Director's alarmed reaction.
However, when the test results came out, the two nurses were stunned into silence.
"Low... low blood sugar?" one of them murmured.
Fu Tinghua: ......
"Deputy Director, should we transfer her to a regular ward?" the nurse ventured cautiously.
"Alright, transfer her to a private room and let her rest well." Fu Tinghua finally returned to his usual calm demeanor.
Just then, someone came looking for him.
"Deputy Director, there's a patient whose condition requires your confirmation."
Fu Tinghua gave Su He one last reluctant look. Though he didn't want to leave her side, he had his own responsibilities to fulfill.
He looked up at the two young nurses and said, "Could you please help me take her to my office? It's quieter there. Thank you."
His tone was as solemn as if entrusting his life to them, leaving the two nurses completely flattered.
"Y-yes, of course."
"Dr. Fu, don't worry!"
They chimed in unison.
